Less is More - Challenge #304 - Emboss Resist Technique

I added up how many Christmas cards I think we need just the other day and it looks as if we might well even have some left over! However, it's still nice to make a few Christmas cards at this time of year - albeit without the pressure to 'batch bake'.

Less is More have a really great theme this week, use the 'Emboss Resist Technique'. I've only done this a few times before now but immediately thought of a NBUS Christmas stamp which needed an outing. And this is what I made:
I used:

- 5.75" x 5.75" square white card blank

- a snippet of white card for the stamped layer, rubbed over with an anti static bag

- stamped the image using VersaFine and a 2012 wood mounted Penny Black stamp called 'Crystal Drops'

- sprinkled a good coating of Stamp n Stuff 'Detail White' embossing powder onto the image and tapped off the excess before setting it with the heat gun

- used a blending sponge to add Tim Holtz Distress inks over the image from the following ink pads: Milled Lavender, Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass

- rubbed over the whole panel with a piece of kitchen roll to remove any ink from the white outlines

- trimmed the image down to size, backed it with a full layer of white fun foam and glued it to the card front

Slap my wrists for not using this stamp before now! I think all the very fine detail worried me a bit - am now thinking of how it would look on black card and embossed in gold :)

Edit: Encouraged by Darnell and Loll, I'm also playing along in this month's CAS Mix Up Card Challenge, where you need to use Stamping + Sponging + Your Choice (my choice is resist/heat embossing).

  3. Fabulous card, Di. I love the delicate colours and it's such a beautiful image. I'm sure the image would look great in gold on black or white on navy. xx

  7. So pretty end elegant - and I agree, the black/gold combo would look great and totally different. Or in greens on a white background to use as a background for a die cut deer.... I'm sure now it's seen ink once it will see it many times in the future

  17. Beautiful card, Di. The resist technique is lovely and shows that NBUS stamp to perfection. Love the ink colours you chose, very delicate. Having some cards left over means there is less pressure for next year too - you could even take January off! Hugs, Elizabeth xx

  32. Gorgeous!I too have not done this emboss resist technique very often. In fact, only at a class methinks!

Yours is so pretty and feminine looking. A perfect card for a single girlfriend!

Thanks for the info about the healing of your sliced knuckle...
Mine looks not too badly now. Just red still around the first knuckle...but oh so tender to touch. Doctor now thinks there may be some nerve damage as it was a deep cut. I did manage to pull out the debit card today a few times as I was on a mission to finihs up my Xmas shopping. Just Al and son-in-law left now. Methinks a Costco trip might finish them off. Seems there are always things in the manish aisles...tools, electronics, cameras.etc) I just want to be finished!

I am off to pack Mums house and sort with my sister as to who gets what and where everything else is going. Then it is just a matter of getting it all packed. Sister is a farmer and time is short for her, so once she shows me what she wants, then I can just go on a packing spree. Shouldn't be too bad and Mum pout labels on a lot of items so it narrows down shat is left to be sorted.
