I used:
- white card blank, trimmed to 5.5" x 4.25", side opening
- a 'frame' of Tonic mrror card in 'Inca Gold' - trimmed to 5.25" x 4"
- a piece of the same white cardstock measuring 5" x 3.75" - onto which I glued the strip of card with already made up washi strips (3 of them). I trimmed it flat across the top, glued it in place and then trimmed off the overhang using Fiskars sharp dressmaking scissors (kept pirely for paper I should stress)
- then did the little sentiment strip - using a NBUS set of stamps and dies by Apple Blossom - called appropriately enough 'Vertical Sentiments and Stamps Set'
- first I stamped the selected sentiment onto a snippet of leftover white card, using a Misti and VersaFine Clair 'Morning Mist' ink
- then die cut the sentiment using a matching die from the same set by Apply Blossom. It's always best to make a 'jig' to do this by die cutting the aperture into scrap card, place that over the sentiment, image or whatever then 'nestle' the die in place so that it cuts perfectly lined up to where you want it - low tack sticky tape is always best to use to make sure things are held well in place during the process
- die cut the gold backing panel from a little snippet of 'Inca Gold' mirror card then glued the actual sentiment onto the gold panel before gluing it to the card front, left hand side
- final step was to add the whole panel to the card front, using narrow strips of thin foam tape - finished!
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
- Darnell's NBUS challenge #67 - HERE - the Apple Blossom set of vertical stamps and dies were being used for the first time
- Allsorts Challenge #801- HERE - under the 'Anything goes' option.
Dudley Pupdate: Dudley has got it into his head that one treat at a time simply isn't enough and so he comes back asking for a second one before the first one has had time to even hit his tummy. It's tough but for his own good - Len will give in at times, I just don't look at the little scamp's pleading little face. Yesterday it was time for his monthly application of flea prevention, always a battle as it means a really thorough grooming session beforehand - not just the lighter ones in between times. Dudley looks on it as his total responsibility to give me a good workout as soon as he sees the dreaded grooming trolley! I'm typing this whilst watching him out of the corner of my eye - immediately after the workout/grooming session and he's lying on the floor looking super smart, telling Honka all about what a bad Mum I am. Not sure which one of us is more worn out ..... and, I didn't even give him an extra treat!
Remember, the results from Challenge #487 are now published in the Snippets Playground HERE.
Do come and play with us in the Snippets Playground - I think, given the recent drop in temperatures over here, there could well be hot chocolate and even toasted muffins on offer! I think that Brenda might even turn up with a load of conkers - I'll bring the string! Sarn is super efficient and I'm counting on her to arrange the practice sessions and if nobody has resorted to biting and scratching, let alone hair pulling - perhaps we'll think about a proper knockout competition!
Love as always, Dudley and yours truly,
So beautiful this card. Love to combo with the mirror card. I have a lot of washi and need to use it sometime. This is a perfect way to use it. Thanks for the Inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Di, the colours are design really speak to me.
ReplyDeleteI know that exhausted feeling at groom time, three of ours love it but Holly at nearly 12 has never got the idea it's a serious time and still rolls about certain it all about play. Ever tried grappling on the floor with a 38kg 'well built' (that's a kind way if putting it) lab?

Luscious card Di, gorgeous colours and the rich gold. It certainly sounds exhausting grappling with a wriggly dog! Xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous effect here using that washi tape panel which works so well with the gold. Dudley is a crafty little scamp trying it on to get extra treats 😊
ReplyDeleteOh! What a pretty Washi tape card. Love the layout and the vertical sentiment plus the lushness of the gold.
ReplyDeleteNaughty wriggly Dudley. He should’ve cottoned on to the fact that he gets an extra treat once he’s been a GOOD boy by now, and not otherwise!!!
Ooh - a conker championship? I feel bruised knuckles coming on already!!! Please tell me we don’t have to wear high viz vests, safety gloves & safety glasses to play! Let’s just do it the old fashioned way & to hell with the consequences!!!🤣
A lovely card Di and great use of the beautiful washi tape.

This is a beautiful card Di and as for Dudley l can imagine treating him being a hard job they don't stay still x
ReplyDeleteI haven't used a vertical sentiment in forever but this looks great with that pretty mirror card backing and the washi tape with those panels. Your doggie sounds more exhausting than having a toddler in the house with his grooming rituals LOL
ReplyDeleteFabulous card Di, so stylish. I love the colours.

What a great way of using up those beautiful snippets of washi tape Di, and I love the accompanying gold with the white...a gorgeous card. I'm sure it doesn't take long for Dudley to forget about the heavy duty grooming that he has to have..he is very lucky to get such great care and attention, though maybe he doesn't look at it like that...lol. x
ReplyDeletePopping back to say thank you for sharing your beautiful card in the Allsorts Challenge this week.

This is gorgeous, what great snippets to have to create with!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us at Allsorts this week!
I used to give our dog flea treatments on the farm.
Pretty sure neither one of us ever got fleas!
That is stunning washi tape Di and teams so well with the gold.
ReplyDeleteDudley is so funny but good for you not falling for his outrageous demands! Hugs, Vicky xx
I keep coming over to visit and then I get called away so if this is a duplicate, I'm sorry, Di! This is turning out to be a super fun, but whirlwind month. Anyhoozle, I love your card design and how you pulled it together in such a fabulous way using that stunning Washi! I'm a lover of vertical sediments and wish more of them were available for compositions like this. As for His Honor, I'm in awe that you can resist that face! We are Nellie's slaves, lol! Thank you, my friend, for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful card with that stunning Washi! I can just imagine the flea med application session with pup Dudley! Hopefully Honka is a good listener!
