Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #359

We've had a few days of rain here - desperately needed but the drop in temperature was a bit of a shock!

It's been a fun week - I'd forecast to at least a couple of friends that I had an instinctive feeling that our washing machine was nearing retirement - and sure enough, it sighed and just stopped working last Sunday. After a major false start with one supplier a new machine arrived from AO as promised yesterday (Friday) and is working away as I type this.

Let's dive  straight into my snippets card for this fortnight, and a little warning that one of the dies I used isn't forming part of the prize this time round:
I used:

- 5.5" x 4.25" white card blank, tent style

- a snippet of baby blue pearlescent card, which I die cut using the main Sugar Pea 'Letter Board Messages' die

- a snippet of white card, die cut using a die from the Avery Elle 'Postage Stamp Elle-ments' set of dies and then fixed to the card front using red line tape before I then added the letter board panel which is a perfect fit, also using red line tape (the main die cuts slits right through the card so any glue would have seeped through to the front)

- snippets of white card, backed with Stick-It and then the required letters were die cut for the 'letter board' part of the message and popped into an upturned plastic lid for safekeeping for after I'd finished the die cutting and also trying out the spacing

- a snippet of X-Cut adhesive backed silver sparkle card, popped onto a snippet of white card and then backed with Stick-It adhesive sheet before die cutting the word 'hello' using Lawn  Fawn's 'Scripty Hello' die

 - die cut the word 'hello' again from Stick-It backed white card and layered the sparkly silver die cut on top

- then added the letters plus the word hello to the card front

- finishing touch, a few white/iridescent sequins

It's only fair to say that I spotted this design, or very similar, when Googling ways to use the Sugar Pea set of dies - you get the main message board panel plus the plain alphabet. The ways you can use this particular die set seem to be endless - black background with different coloured letters, add a flower with a plain message instead of the way I used it, perfect for back to school cards - and of course you can make up umpteen messages! The 'Scripty Hello' is a lovely die as well, a dream to use. And the die set that's missing from the prize is the Avery Elle 'Postage Stamp' set - although I mostly try to just use what makes up the fortnightly prize, this card really cried out for a frame but my pension will only stretch so far :) Plus it was actually a prize about two years ago - you don't really need fancy frames of course.

So, the prize this fortnight is:
Of course it's a Sugar Pea 'Letter Board Messages' set of dies and a Lawn Fawn 'Scripty Hello' die - both items make up the one prize BTW, I don't want to split them.

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 31st August. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.

It's a maximum of ONE entry, please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.

Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you want to be in the draw in a comment on here, then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' on the blog post itself - just in case you're only playing for fun - otherwise I don't add you to my little list.

No photos of Dudley this time. He's just the same as always - full of fun and very entertaining! And always so curious about absolutely everything too.

Lots of love from us all - Parsnip, Dudley and of course me,

  1. Just love your card & the prize, so will put my name in the draw--thank you, Di! The pearlescent paper is so beautiful! Glad you had some relief from the heat. It's been better here the last couple days, but heat is coming back, unfortunately!

  4. You've made a great card with this lovely letter board die and with the alphabet to write whatever you please, and a super 'hello' die too and it fits perfectly into that postage stamp frame. A beautiful card Di. If I get a card in I will be playing just for fun this time. x

  5. I'm always sad not to see Dudley but your card is fantastic. That letter board is awesome and so many uses for it. In fact, useful for every occasion. The paper is beautiful and enhanced with your white and sparkle letters.

  8. A great simple card, love it. Yes please for the prize. I am sorry I have missed a couple of challenges recently, I have been struggling with time. There are just not enough hours in the day. I am glad you received your order from SSS OK. It is all a bit too nerve racking for me so I think I will stick to what I can get here. That is a gorgeous die though. I shall look forward to seeing what you make with it xx

  9. Hi Di what a great card and yes please to the prize. I'm glad your new machine is working well...nothing worse than no washing machine is there. I can hand wash when the dishwasher packs up but not the washing machine! Let's hope we get another blast of summer before September comes, it's been very changeable. Hugs xx

  10. Our washing machine broke down one yr just as we came home from holiday and
I put the first load in. I think it was only that fact that made The Doc agree to a new one. Hugs Me,

  11. Great card, Di. I love the die set, really useful for so many different occasions. I'd love the win this, so will be a Yes Please in the draw.

Glad you've got your new washing machine installed. It's a real pain when they break down. xx

  13. Yes please to the prize! Isn't it funny how a new washing machine can just make your day? I guess that's when you know you're a real grown-up, lol!

  14. I hate being without a washing machine - when ours broke down there was a problem with the replacement and I had to use the launderette for 6 weeks. I reckon it cost me just about the price of a new machine, the price is ridiculous these days!
Just playing for fun this week.

  16. Your card is so very clever and cute, and the prize would be incredibly useful with all the letters and "billboard" to post them on! I love what you've done with it, and I'm definitely a "Yes Please" to the prize drawing this week! Thanks much! Hope you are feeling well these days?

  21. The problem with your WM breaking down is that suddenly EVERY SINGLE piece of clothing you own NEEDS washing!!! lol.... Same with any of our modern-day conveniences. When my well or water system is glitching, everything in the house seems dirty and in need of cleaning. Ha. So glad you were able to get a new WM promptly.

Your card is so pretty and shimmery. Yes, please, to this prize...so interesting and like nothing I have in my collection!

Thank you for another fun challenge, Di. Take care and have fun doing laundry!!! :)

  22. What a delightful card, Di. So much detail in the making but the overall effect is one of pure simplicity! Very clever. I'm going to play for the set of dies. I see so many possibilities with the alphabet and the Letter Board and one can always use a fun "Hello." Crossing my fingers that I get lucky this time. My card will be posted in a few more hours.

  28. Hello Di *waves hello* It's fun to see one of those message board thingies as a card and I love the colours you've used. The touches of glitter are gorgeous and those sequins... what IS it with me and sequins? (Perhaps I'm just yearning for the return of Strictly!)

Loved reading that you have welcomed a gorgeous little pup into your lives - although he's probably not so small by now! Eva sends wags and licks :)

What a fab prize! That's going to perk up someone's craft room! Not mine though - I'm sans cutting machine currently so I'm just playing along for fun xx

  29. Well, Miss Di, I just can't figure out why I can't upload … I always get to the part where it shows my card and when I click on it, it gives me the error message. I am so bummed - and I feel like I am a pain in the tushy when YOU keep having to upload it for me!!! :-(
    Here is my link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/133625822@N05/48592415331/in/dateposted-public/
But PLEASE email me (rebyah1 @ gmail.com) and let me know if this is just too much of a pain for you. I would not be offended at all!!
I do so love playing in your challenge, your cards are always inspirational, and you are so generous with prizes! :-) I would love to play for the prize. I just bought a set of lower case letters, but need some upper case! :-) Have a beautiful day!

  30. Oh my goodness, I love that background die! Yes please to the prize - I'll certainly be keeping my fingers crossed for this one. The card you made is just lovely.

  31. What a sweet and cheery CAS card design Di. Yes please to this prize package, as it's unlike anything that I've seen before.
Major appliances, cars, and computers are all things we take for granted UNTIL they break down. Then it's disaster! Nothing as depressing as having to lug laundry to the laundro-mat when your machine breaks down, so I'm glad you were able to replace it so quickly. Happy wash-day!

  32. Oh what a fun die. Love your card. Please include me in the draw Di. Hugz

  33. That is a fun message board die with endless possibilities! Love the hello design you made, Di! Sorry I've been so scarce, my friend. I went off to the Midwest for a while to help one of my sisters pack and move in with her daughter. A big change and lots of emotion. And we've had lots of time with the boys. Now school has started and hopefully things will settle back into a routine! Fingers crossed!! Thank you for another fun snippets challenge! Hugs, Darnell
