I used:
- A6 white card blank
- a snippet of white card, die cut across almost the centre using the Memory Box 'Piestra Tile' die
- the die cut panel was then popped onto a panel of 'rainbow card' - found in the snippets folder
- sentiment is by Hero Arts, from their 'Truly Appreciated' set - stamped using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink pad
- then the assembled panel was trimmed down and popped onto the card front using very thin sticky pads
- final touch, a butterfly die cut from the last of the rainbow card snippet plus some white - using Memory Box 'Vivienne' and 'Darla' dies
There are a lot of fairly similar cards out there, on Pinterest and such, using the Piestra die along with a butterfly. Bit of a match made in heaven!
Onto this weeks picks:
I wish I could just keep adding to the picks, there were so many brilliant entries to choose from!
And we had no new playmates this past week - although there was a really serious risk of a horse joining us! What next?!?! A little group of 'rebels' decided it would be fun to accommodate said horse in the bike sheds - until I sent Parsnip out on guard duty right though the freezing nights we've been having - shame on you girls!
The winner of last week's prize (the Roses stamp set) is:
This coming week's prize is a Memory Box die just like one I used on my snippets card today:
Yup, it's the lovely 'Piestra Tile' die. I absolutely love it and am sure most of you would too. The great thing I found is that it cuts without any 'buckling' of the card - I do have a couple of other MB dies with repetitive patterns which aren't as good as this one for maintaining perfectly flat card.
SLIGHT CHANGE OF SCHEDULE. The Snippets Challenge will run for eight days as I'm out playing all day on Saturday 31st January- so the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Sunday 1st February. The gates will open again at
midnight UK time on the same day.
Maximum of three entries and please say 'Yes please' (or similar) in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize.
Maximum of three entries and please say 'Yes please' (or similar) in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize.
Mr Linky is below - do please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone :)
Remember girls, it's Rudolph Day today over at Mo's!! I'll be joining in and hope you came along to give Mo every encouragement on her first running of the Challenge since she took it over from Sarn, and you have until the end of January to join in. Mind you, Sarn was one of the protagonists wanting a horse in the Playground so I'm wondering if she actually now has too much time on her hands?!
Di and of course, Parsnip!
That little chap has been stomping round in his wellies in a very grumpy frame of mind - sure I heard him muttering something about 'horses, not while I'm around'!

xx
This is such an impressive die, and you've showcased it so well using that background that is peeking out. Of course that lovely butterfly showing a similar background really makes the day - This is Uber spring-like and so very pretty in the crisp white & pastel. Love it! I see some good highlights this week too. Good to get a closeup of Shaz' pretty WoW card that was on her desk earlier. TFS & Big Hugs
ReplyDeleteWhat a great die that is, Di. It looks lovely with the rainbow card behind it and the butterfly is the perfect embellishment - a gorgeous card. Once again you've chosen fabulous cards to showcase. Congratulations to Sally H on her win. Snippety Bailey says hi to Parsnip :) Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteHi Di, your card is so beautiful and that die is just amazing !! Just linked up my card project. They both are made of snippets entirely. Except the base for the card and the base for the tissue box. (that's too big of a paper you need) But for the rest I only used snippets and left overs. great huh ? LOL LOL LOL
ReplyDeleteSo thank you for this challenge Di, it forces us to use our snippets and left overs.
Really great ;-)
Hugs, Veerle xxxx
Hi Di your card is gorgeous. I would love to join in and try to win the die it is beautiful. I hope you have a fab day out on Saturday. Hugs Jackie
ReplyDeleteI love the rainbow colours in your card Di. I haven´t come across that die before but it is definitely one I would like in my collection, so ¨Yes please´! Kate x
ReplyDeleteIf I kept a scrapbook of my favorite cards of yours, Di, this would be pasted on the cover. I love every square bit of this!! I'm tempted for the first time to say yes to the prize, but I do have a couple of similar dies that I think will serve equally or almost for CASEing your stunning design. The die alone with the delectable pastels behind would be breathtaking enough, but to add the pastel butterfly raises this to heady heights in my eyes!!
ReplyDeleteSo I've been a pretty bad playmate with my visits - can't imagine why - and now I'm back, I see I've missed an entire discourse on obtaining a horse! You mean a pony, Shirley? We can't none of us shinny up a horse, mind, let alone not pitch off tother side if we DID get upon her! No doubt someone will attempt to fly off the ladder leading to the tree house and stick a landing on the back of the nag, but ... dear me. Oh, dear me. If it's just a rodeo everyone wants ... What? Oh, it's just cowboys everyone wants?! Oh, well, why didn't you SAY so? We've tons of them here in the States. I'll round 'em up and bring 'em over!!
Have a good day! Hugs, Darnell
Gorgeous card and it looks like it took more work to put together than I'm sure it did (since you said you were rushed). I like that muted rainbow backing.
ReplyDeleteStunning picks Di and your own card is gorgeous! I love the rainbow backing peeping through the die.
ReplyDeleteYour choices this time are really great cards. I love them all. And your card is delectable! That is the word that came to mind when I saw it. I love those soft colors peeking through and the butterfly is beautiful.

I love your shout outs, what awesome projects by all! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteLike Brenda, I have just joined in for fun and to join in the playground fun. I am with all those who want a horse in there, even two or three, but not the Thelwell kind, please. I will be back later in the week to look at everyone else's entries when Blogger is kind enough to let me see them all. Does this school close for snow or can we carry on playing in the yard, please? See you soon. xx Maggie
