Contemporary NOEL

The current challenge over at Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge is to use stripes and/or spots.  I used both:
I used:

- 7" x 5" white card blank, with an embossed line run round the edges using the Hougie board

- Woodware stamp called 'Huge Noel', stamped with Memento 'Tuxedo Black'

- paper piecing using snippets of spots and strips from the Wild Rose Studios 'Wintry Christmas' paper pack

- the 'frame' is SU's 'Perfect Plum' card stock

- sentiment is from the same Woodware set, stamped in Memento 'Tuxedo Black'

- brushed silver Josy Rose nail heads

I did a fairly similar card, but in much more traditional papers, a while ago for Sunday Snippets. This time I made two really clean and fresh ones in different papers while I was at it - trying to keep on target with 12 Christmas cards a month :)

Oh, and this is also for Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra of course, where it's always anything goes for Christmas.

Need to catch up on Playground commenting, it's been a busy day here but thank you so much to those of you who took the time and trouble to grab the snippets playground button and put it on your sidebar, 'cos actions do speak louder than words :) It took me ages a while to do and it's really very gratifying that so many of you girlies have genuinely cared enough to grab the button and pop it on your sidebar. If anyone is stuck, let me know - I won't snitch on you, hee, hee!!

  1. Awesome! You've nailed this one flat to the boards! Glad you're seeing lots of action on the nifty button. Hope you are feeling so appreciated. Which you ARE!!! :-)

  2. This is gorgeous Di! love that stamp lots of huggles Sue xx

  3. gorgeous card!! I have blog candy... I hope you can join in!

  4. I like the colours you have chosen Di. If the playground looks like its been done over in der morning it's snot my fault. Viv hid der glu. hugs Mrs A.

  5. Your Noel card is very sweet. How fun to have one more card in the Christmas arsenal! I did it Misses! I grabbed the button all on my own...now aren't I the smarty pants! I had a good teacher....A few years back, I remember you helping the newbie me.See....I did learn!

  6. Grabbed the logo...no problems there. Still struggling with why your Mr Linky won't work for me.

Took my computer to the geek squad today and they couldn't figure out how to fix it other than to say that it is reading my images as text???
No problem linking anywhere else tho...have been googling it and hope to get it sorted.
Your card is lovely. The paper piecing is fab...love the soft, pretty colours and patterns you chose. A perfect snippets card.

  7. Cool card - great stamp

  8. Hi Di - great card. Would love to grab the buttin but as think I've onky managed to join in a couple of times I should wait and earn it! Anne x

  9. Hi Di

I fell in love with this stamp the first time you used it.

I can tell it is going to have to make its way further up the list of "one day I would like" stamps.

12 Christmas cards a month!!! I thought I was doing well doing one each Sunday and two for Sandra!!! LOL!!!

    Have a good day.

    Love Jules xx

  10. Brilliant card Di, and wonderful paperpiecing.

  11. DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEElightful card, AND a great way to use up some more of those pesky snippets!

  12. MISS MISS MISS ----- that 'orrible Valery is the biggest SNITCH - I only hid a couple of tubes of the sticky stuff... next time I will stick HER to somefink and see how she likes that

Did Santa bring you this stamp? You must have been very very good. (Unlike 'oribble Valery)

Oh and I have grabbed the button all by meself. x

  13. Gorjess Di.........lovely paper piecing and those backing papers are gorgeous from wild rose studio xx

  14. Fantastic snippets use. LOVE this Noel card.

It sounds like you need to bang Valery's and Viv's heads together!

    Hugs, Sarn xxx

  15. Perfect for paper piecing! Love these big letters!

  16. Beautiful card Di - perfect paper piecing and lovely colours.

  17. Thanks Di for deleteing those...that was the Geek squad trying to figure ot what was wrong. The fellow had no idea...I get to the chose a photo part and a red message pops up that Mr Linky cannot read the file extension of my photo...and when i right click on my photo to open it in another window, it displays text instead of the photo...Weird!

Some new picture program keeps trying to open on my computer and blocks my other real program. I have the top line Norton installed at the shop when I boughtthe computer. They say it is a real program on my computer...an optional one...I had them delete it. Those photos that won't open where posted to my pictures folder thru that now removed program.

I am hopeing that my next post which will be loaded and edited the old way, will be accepted by the Mister!

I did two versions of that same image...one red and one blue!

  18. Fabulous use of the stamp and the colour choice is very refreshing.

    Kath x

  21. I love these big letters and they look great paper pieced.I like the papers you used as well.
I managed to get the keys logo onto my sidebar eventually!!. I have done it before but couldn't quite remember how, but got there in the end.
    Jean x

  22. Teacher! Teacher! I'm stuck and don't know how to make the keys work!!!

I like your spotty and stripy non-traditional colored Christmas cards. I think 12 a month is a good goal. I opted for 4 and then made 8. I'm an overachieving underachiever!!!! Go me!

  23. Wonderful paper-piecing, Di--love this pretty card! I'm going to add the badge now--thanks for making it.

  24. Hmmmn! I think I am glad I been out of the squabbling in the Playground these last few days!
Great card there Miss. I liked it first time round and I like it now.

  25. Beautiful, but I must not buy any more Zmas cards until I have used all my Xmas stamps to create at least four cards, that is the mantra I am having to remind myself of everytime I see a Xmas stamp I like lol!

  26. Love it, Di. Thanks for entering both of my CHNC challenges with your lovely card - hope to see you again soon. x

  27. Super card, Di. A great way of combining both the spots and stripes Hazel asked for this week. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

  28. I love this fun and modern Christmas card and the way you've made it shine with both stripes AND dots!!

Thanks again for the logo! I hope you've gotten my other thanks! It's proudly displayed on my challenge button tab and now everyone sees it right in the middle of my posts every time I come to play, which is great for advertising! (Although it was fun to use your photo to spice up my posts!)

    Hugs, Darnell

  29. Hallo Di, wat heb je dat leuk gedaan! Mooie, niet-traditionele kleuren gebruikt! Leuk dat je meedoet bij CHCC Extra. We zien graag nog meer creaties van je!

    Groetjes, Renate
