I used:
- 5.25" x 5.25" white card stock
- Cuttlebug 'Swiss Dots' embossing folder
- backing paper from a lovely pad by Teresa Collins called 'Sweet Afternoon', sent to me by our snippets playmate Mary Mac (thank you again Mary!)
- re-inkers in TH DI colours, 'Milled Lavender', Tumbled Glass' and 'Spun Sugar'
- baby wipes and an acrylic block
- butterfly stamp and sentiment from the SU set called 'Butterfly Prints'
- SU 'Bashful Blue' to stamp the sentiment - it's not as pale in real life as in the photo :)
- SU punches, one for the butterflies (but you could fussy cut) and one for the sentiment
- snippet of pink ribbon from the ribbon box
The main thing to remember is that the stamp should have a solid image - I've got a maple leaf stamp lurking somewhere that would look great in Autumn shades.

This is so precious using the pale colors, Di, which never even occurred to me. I've only done it once with vibrant colors.
ReplyDeleteAnd, not to worry, I only learned of this technique myself about three weeks ago in a post where they called it "puddle colors." It is cool. I, too, wondered how long it has been around!

Hello Di, beautiful card and I love the butterflies against the embossed card. And I've never heard of this technique - so you are not on your own. I don't have any reinkers either. Clearly, I'm a deprived crafter :( Off to check out your link - though I may have to spend some of my pocket-money afterwards so I'm not sure whether to thank you or not for encouraging me :)) Only joking. Color me silly, but can't you use reinkers to um... I dunno.... reink your ink pads too? So it isn't like they are useless.
ReplyDeleteInteresting technique. There is another version where you put the baby wipe over the edge of a squee-gee type thing (large spatuala) ink it up in different places and then wipe it onto a glossy cs to make a streaked background. I've never done it, just seen it done. I tend avoid baby wipes as much as I avoid babies. Don't trust 'em. Either of them.

Like the way you have left the white border round the butterflies, love the pink background paper. Great card, well stocked up now with butterflies, wonder if you will use them, I never seem to if I make a job lot of something.

Blown away by this Di. That tutorial is really good as is all the site it was on. Got lost for 1/2 hr reading all the other ideas on there. Shouldn't have really as I'm meant to be making giant flowers to go on a wall for this Sunday. Just one Q. though. wot u dun with yer baby wipe.? If yer bined it can you get it out and post it tooo me!!! Honest not joking. I have a pile of used ones on me desk waiting to be made into a box!!!!!!

I am always up for trying something new, and I must admit I haven't come across this technique before. I shall dig out some solid stamps and have a go, though I only have a very limited choice of reinkers.
