Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #351

Time for another new challenge fortnight in the Snippets Playground. Am writing this on the day before the challenge goes live - and it's damp and windy here. Let's hope we haven't had our Summer already - we've had some glorious days recently, at least the children were off school on holiday to make the most of it.

First of all an apology, I might have rectified things by the time this publishes, but with one thing and another I just haven't managed to keep up with commenting on entries for the challenge that just closed. I'll be there ASAP I promise!

And here's my snippets card for this fortnight:
I used:

- 5" x 5" square white card blank, side opening

- a snippet of green card for the 'frame'

- a snippet of white card for the image panel (some challenges I tend to use just a couple of larger snippets -  depending on what the prize is and whether it lends itself to a variety of smaller snippets or not). A snippet is still a snippet!

- stamped the rockery onto the white panel, using a stamp from the fairly new Clarity Stamp 'Lizzy & Rockery + masks set and a Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink pad

- then used one of the re-usable masks to cover the rockery before using the lizzy stamp to stamp the flowers and foliage. The masks made by Clarity are brilliant, wish more companies did that

- coloured the whole image using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and Sansodor blending fluid

- only then did I trim the panel down into a square before adding the sentiment using a stamp from the Hero Arts 'Messages' set of sentiment stamps and Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink (and the Misti of course!). The set of sentiment stamps is dated 2007 - and sadly no longer available (I did try!)

- then trimmed the snippet of green card (chosen so I could match some of the foliage to it) to just slightly larger than the image panel

- glued both panels onto the card front - all done!

As so often happens - the colours are so much more vivid in real life - especially the bright (almost neon) orange, sigh.

I love Clarity stamps and this set is so lovely to stamp as well as colour. It came with the Clarity perspex mounts (one for each of the two stamps) - which I did use - but the Misti or any perspex block would have worked just as well. Plus, the mounts/handles take up a lot of extra storage space - the stamps are the usual clear cling material (great quality and very well made I should add!) and really I think that Clarity could save work, postage and costs by selling their stamps without accompanying mounts - just my opinion of course. Their products are still fabulous!

And of course, the prize this fortnight is this:
A Clarity Stamp 'Lizzy & Rockery + masks set. Now, I do of course also have the two mounts which came with the stamp set, as shown in the photo, and they're also part of the prize. But, if you win and are happy not to have them sent then that's just fine. It's easier and cheaper postage for me (the difference between a large letter and a small parcel) - but as they came with the stamps it's only fair to give you the option. I think my own ones will end up in the 'donate or throw out' pile of stuff when I do my intended blitz of the craft room!

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 11th May. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.

It's a maximum of ONE entry and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.

Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you want to be in the draw in a comment on here, then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' on the blog post itself - just in case you're playing only for fun - otherwise I don't add you to my little list.

Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone ☺

And finally, a few photos of Dudley for your enjoyment taken just minutes apart the day after his 2nd part of being groomed (so only taken on Tuesday or possibly Wednesday. They do show how he can look so puppy-like one minute - and rather elegant the next! Captions as dictated by Dudley:
Aw come on Daddy. I'm doing my 'please come and play' pose here!
Just to prove that there's still a lot of peach on my ears and down my back (aka saddle). And I'm trying the 'look a bit mournful' approach now to see if anyone will play
Me - being a real Havanese and doing my 'regal' look! Puppy one minute and a real 'poser' the next. And I'm so good when Mama fixes my top knot - I lie very still with my chin on my paws now and rarely move during the whole process. To be honest, it makes life much easier to get it over and done with rather than putting up a fight - but that's just between us!
Lots of love from us all - Parsnip, Dudley and of course me -

Dudley is so handsome for a little handful. heh heh. Your card is lovely. I'd like the stamp set if I win but wouldn't need the mounts. Like you noted, they'd end up in the donation box. As always, thanks for your generosity, Di. YOu are so very sweet.

I wish our Bernie would be as easy to ohotograph as Dudley. Whenever I try to snap a picture, he come up to me, hopung for a cuddle or play. His favourite toys are two tennis balls right now. DH will throw the second one as soon as he gets back with the first one. That's the easiest way to make him let go of the ball lol. Of course, with temperatures finally going up here, It may become too hot soon to make him ripun so much.
Love your card, and I share your frustration about pictures not doing the card and colours justice. But your flowers are still looking very pretty and I love the combinationation of the flowers and the rocky border.

Hi Di.
Don’t Surry about catching up on comments truly, I get that. I’m way behind here. Life bit Topsy Turvey here. 😊
I really love those stamps and agree re the reduncy of Stamping doohickeys too. I’ll put hands up for stamps/ masks ( that sounds like real fun combo!) but not holder thingies.
Love the card really shame re photo seems that way with oranges/ pinks too they look off...
And Dudley, how adorably cute...my fav is the last photo. Cuteness personified.
Happy snippets day (which is every day!!😁)

Fabulous job of masking, Di! I love how the flowers are truly 'behind' the rocks. I'm playing for fun again this week and will probably have my card posted tomorrow. Depends on how the photographing goes.

Well I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one getting behind with my blog visits... but at last I'm finally catching up with all the housework.

As for the photos of Dudley, well isn't he the most cutest little lad on the block especially with his little top knot.

And not forgetting your wonderful card, great layout and those are super stamps. Will be along later with a card but only playing for fun xx

What a pretty card and an ADORABLE DUDLEY!

Such a pretty set of stamps and used beautifully by you Di, so I am definitely a 'yes please' for the prize but without the mounts as I already have a couple anyway and they do take up an awful lot of room. Dudley is growing but is still as cute as a button and looking very handsome after his second lot of grooming. x

Di, I love that card. I've never seen a rock stamp and I love it. The flowers are so sweet too. Oh, that Dudley. He is the cutest! I love his topknot.

Oh my goodness--I just wish I could get my hands on that adorable Dudley! Such a gorgeous coat & oh the looks! How wonderful that he stopped fighting the topnot process! I've never heard of Clarity stamps, but what a neat set & I agree about the masks. I know Altenew now has them for some of their stamps, but haven't gotten any yet. Love your card--beautifully colored, Di! I'll just play for fun.

Such a pretty card and could you please pop my name in the draw for the stamps and masks but without the mounts. Nice as these mounts are I agree that they take up valuable storage space. Don't fret about not keeping up with comments as I'm sure everyone understands that life gets in the way from time to time.

Hi Di,
I have now been in Germany for four weeks and could not make a single thing with comments etc from my iPhone. Hope I can post this comment and my entrance. If not, Blogger looks at me as a dangerous person ;)
Such a wonderful card, dear Di! I love the stone wall! Yes please, I would like to be in the draw!
And Dudley! Have no words for that cutie! So glad you post photos of him also on fb.
All the best for you!

Love your card and this fun stamp set as the prize. I have dropped off a masculine card, I don't make too many of them, but was inspired by the Kinda Cute by Patricia Alverez Seagull Fishing and wanted to create a non-feminine card... Yes.. I would love to win the prize stamp set ... have a good week. hugs

My friend Pat alerted me to your blog and challenge as I am always making cards with bits! Love your card and your dog!

Hi Di, I'm back after linking up my card.
Yes, please for the prize. I have seen Barbara use the mounts on her gel press prints, and was wondering if they would work well for that purpose. I had no idea, though, that Clarity included a block with each stamp. That does seem like overkill.

What a cute card! I really like the fun sentiment font. I'll be playing just for fun this time, thanks! Oh, and Dudley is looking super cute!

Wow, loving this card Di!!! Love that stamp set, it makes a pretty card for sure!!! You have done well showcasing it Di! I am playing along for the prize. Never saw mounts like those before I must admit. I also love the adorable photo's of Dudley! He does indeed have quite a bit of "peach" still on him. It just adds to his uniqueness and cuteness! I love all his looks, but I especially love his look in the last photo. So cute! Hugs, Brenda

Dudley is adorbs. Your card is beautiful. I don't have any clarity stamps so I am glad you showed the mounts to satisfy my curiosity. I agree, selling the stamps without them would save costs all round but maybe they make a good storage idea?? Anyway, count me in for the draw please and have a lovely day. Hugz

Oh gosh! Dudley cuteness overload, Di. Fabulous pics... love them. Great card, too. xx

Love this card, Di, great choice of colours. The stamps are really lovely and if it's okay to go into the draw again after a recent win, I'd love to be a Yes Please. xx

EdenLand Designs said...

I adore your card, Di!! I'd love to be in on the draw for the lovely stamps, but don't need the mounts, as I agree with you about them being unnecessary, as well as an added shipping cost. Wonderful pictures of Dudley. He sits so very nice....something that my pup has never quite got the hang of for more than a few seconds, and rarely with a camera pointed at him!!!

What a lovely card, Di! I have a weakness for floral stamps (and every other kind, too!!) and this is esp pretty with the rock wall. Not sure I have seen one just like this before. Yes, please, to the prize, but I do not need the mount.

Dudley look so sweet with his bath and fresh grooming!! I love that beautiful peach color on him. What a precious little guy!!!

Happy Spring!! I think it is finally here, even in Idaho!! The cherry tree outside my craft room window is in full bloom and the hummingbirds are visiting the blossoms and fighting over the feeder I have hanging nearby, too.

Thank you for another fun challenge!!

Yes please to this fun stamp set. It's just different enough from any of my other floral stamps that I feel I MUST have it, haha! I love your CAS design and the way you colored that rock wall! As for Dudley...what a little sweetie...and you know he's fully aware of how cute he looks!

Karenladd said...

Forgot to mention that if I do end up winning the prize, you can skip the acrylic mounts. I agree that they would do better not to include those with their clear stamps because how many of them would one stamper need?!!
