Three Christmas cards - two whole days work!

I'm in serious trouble here, it took me two days (albeit not constant I admit - we do have to eat plus I broke out for a hair appointment and also did some housework plus a baking session) to make three identical Christmas cards. But, overall - the going is very slow and half hearted I fear. There was a lot of stamping and die cutting admittedly, but it's clear that am suffering from a real lack of enthusiasm. I still need to make my snippets card for Sunday in fact! Ooopsie!

Anyhow, less of the whining - this is what I made - one of the set of three identical ones:
I used:

- 5" x 5" square white card blank

- a frame made using gold ever so slightly sparkled card, SU's 'Real Red' card and a white panel on top

- the fabulous SU 'Wondrous Wreath' stamps set and matching dies. First I stamped the wreath using SU's 'Certainly Celery', 'Wild Wasabi' and 'Real Red' ink pads

- then die cut the wreath using matching dies - used my 'card template' method for perfect placement of the dies. I've described it loads of times but if you want a reminder then here's one link that will help

- stamped and die cut the red bow, same set of stamps and dies

- die cut the word 'Joy' from the same set of dies, using the gold card

- assembled the wreath, bow and word 'Joy' onto the card - using Collall Glue as always and a fine tipped applicator

And that's was it. The Misti was absolutely marvellous BTW, I'd have given up totally without it!

  1. Hi Di, a super set off cards, love that you have a template to go to when Mr. Mojo goes on holidays. Three more cards for your Christmas stash, mine is only at a pitiful one. Have a wonderful weekend... Megan

  2. This is a beautiful design. And very complicated with all the stamping. No wonder it took a long time to make three!! Glad you persevered because now you have three brilliant Christmas cards. :) xx

  5. Hi Di,
what a wonderful card, and your design is fab.
I don't think Mr Mojo is in any way gone walkabout with this lovely creation.
You are being too hard on yourself, as you always come up trumps with your creations.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  13. This is such a pretty wreath and the accompanying bow and word die look fabulous Di. I think we all suffer from lack of mojo at times and you have had a lot to deal with recently so you are bound to be feeling a bit lacklustre, but you will get the enthuiasm back, just don't push it and you will begin to miss the creativity and there will be no stopping you. You have made a gorgeous card here so you definitely haven't lost the knack. x

  15. It is super cute. I have weeks like that too, when it seems to take forever to make anything. You never know when it will stop though, so keep crafting!

  18. Looks really great to me but sorry that you have found it slow and half-hearted but i do know what you mean. Sometimes I can do 2/3 cards in one and I am amazed at how quickly I have done them, then other days I think am I ever to to get this card finished. Not done anything crafty today, very unusual but I just didn't get the urge.
    Chin up, it will pass.

  20. A fabulous result even if it did seem to take forever!! I reckon quite a few people have the 'winter blues, can't be bothered' syndrome when it is so easy to fall into displacement activity mode. Just don't ask how I know this!!!!! Spring is just around the corner and maybe Mr Mojo will wake up. I'm sure you will come up with something great for Sunday.

  25. In spite of the time it took you to finish up, this card was well worth it. and to have made three is a great accomplishment.

I well know the feelings you are mentioning that seem to steal our mojo or our creative energy. I have 3 shoeboxes of UFO's simply due to the feelings you mentioned.

I think the majority of the time an idea for the card we are about to make, or a technique we want to try, grabs us and we can complete that card (or multiples of it ) quite easily.
If we are sharing our time with outside worries or stress or simply time constraints, then that card can become a burden to finish. My Mum passed a way last week and even though she was welcoming joining my Dad who predeceased her, and even though I knew it was her time and for her best, it still has thrown me for a loop and I have not even walked downstairs to my craft room.
Maybe a wee distraction is in order...perhaps a lovely weekend away with Len, or even a few nights out doing some lovely posh outings for meals etc. will help.

    Hugs
    Maureen

  26. Well it was definitely worth the time it took as it really is a wonderful card and that wreath is fabulous. I know what you mean about lack of enthusiasm, I'm feeling just the same... especially when it comes to housework xx
