I made these last week and, for once, I'm straight into Scrappy Mo's Rudolph Days Challenge (for July) which runs until the end of the month. In fact, I think I first saw this stamp set over at Mo's?!
Made four exactly the same:
I used:
- 5" x 5" square white card blank
- white card square, already cut to the size I wanted - onto which I stamped the image, using the Misti, Ranger Archival 'Black' ink and Hobby Art's 'Christmas Past' stamp set
- then positioned and stamped the sentiment, from the same stamp set, using SU's 'Real Red' ink
- ha, then I went to use my Zigs and thankfully tried on a piece of scrap card first - oopsie, I hadn't used the right card for the four images lined up ready to be coloured and it was certainly going to 'bobble'
- quick about turn and used Faber Castell Polychromos pencils with Sansodor blending solution instead - phew, close call!!
- ran a gold Calligraphy pen around the edge of the coloured image square
- mounted the image square onto slightly larger dark green card (snippets, yay!) and then onto gold mirri card
- glued the whole panel onto the card front and felt there was just 'something' missing
- out came the Josy Rose hot nail heads and I just covered the three holly berries with red, shiny nail heads - what a difference, and still small letter size!
Cutting the little image squares to size before stamping was helpful - but, I wouldn't like to try it without the aid of the Misti 'Creative Corners' - which 'push' the card away from the very edges of the Misti base. I can thoroughly recommend those and am sure they would work well with (ahem) other similarly designed brands of stamp positioner :)
Elegant CAS Christmas, Di. Lovely image and I love the red nail heads, a perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteI used my 'similarly designed' Misti for the first time yesterday. I see now why everyone raves about them! Not sure exactly what the Creative Corners are, but it sounds like I might need to check them out. 😉 xx
They're great Liz and allow for all sorts of extra tricks, apart from being able to stamp really closely to all edges on a card. x
DeleteLove this pretty card. The red nail heads really make all the difference.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous CAS Christmas card - love the shiny red berries! I will have the Misti corners soon as they will be part of my birthday pressi from Darren. He bought them for me ages ago so I can't wait to get my hands on them! Hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteA beautiful holly stamp and sentiment Di and a great one for multiple makes. x
ReplyDeleteLovely Rudolph Day card mate. Love all the white space+ crisp look.

Beautiful card, Di, so elegant. I'm getting a misti for my birthday next month and looking forward to using it - although I'll still be keeping my old L-and-rectangle stamp positioner to use with red rubber.
ReplyDeleteWe're all up-and-at-em for Rudolph day, aren't we? Except Maureen, she hasn't even posted her usual day before get ready post, so I hope everything's OK with her.
Jane
Yes, I'm a bit concerned too Jane. Maureen might just be up at the lake though. x
DeleteA beautiful CAS card Di, so elegant. I may have to look into these corners for my Misti...

That's four more for the Christmas box - Cas but very effective. Lucky you tested the zigs before you spoiled the images.
ReplyDeleteSuch an elegant entry too, Di
ReplyDeleteHappy Rudolph Day

I love this classy Christmas holly design, Di! So glad you stopped short from using your Ziggies! I love that you rimmed your panel in gold before adding the fabulous matting!! Hugs, Darnell

This is a lovely, elegant card with a very peaceful feel.
ReplyDeleteI do not recall this image but that does not mean I have not used it before. I have a few cards made with images my friends stamp off for me whilst attending Langley Stampers Club!
Thanks for taking part in the July Rudolph days challenge.
Sorry that I have not been in the playground lately. I finally had a cortisone shot this week and feel like a new woman so should get back to my old routines shortly We are up at the lake and just had the kids and grandkids leave...it is cleaning day for me! teehee
it's so nice card!
ReplyDeleteHi Di,
ReplyDeleteback again with my GD comment.
As I said before you card and that stmped image is brilliant, and as always your cards just have such a very super finish to them.
Thank you for joining the Rudolf Challenge.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L. GD
This is a lovely CAS card.
ReplyDeleteI got the MISTI accessories now! I'm going to a workshop in Oct with the designer so hoping to be able to learn how to use it to its full capacity.
Beautiful card, the simplicity of the design makes it stunning, but a swine to get right! Yay, for stamp positioned. I bought the memory MISTI which I love even thought the cheaper alternatives came out a few weeks act I finally gave in and bought it! I had delivered today a much cheaper smaller version as I struggle to find space on the table to store and use it. One day I'll have a craft room for it to live in...
ReplyDeleteVery elegant cards, love the simplicity of them, those nail heads really do make the finishing touch
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous hun, luv Sam x
