My visit to hospital was a little more productive than I thought, had x-rays taken - and after those are reviewed there may or may not be a MRI scan as the next step. Watch this space folks :) But don't hold your breath either!!
As always, a huge thank you to everyone who came to play this past fortnight - loads of gorgeous entries.
This is my snippets card for the coming fortnight:
I used:
- 4.25" x 5.5" white card blank, tent style
- snippet of white card stock, with the bottom die cut into a scalloped chevron using a die from the Frantic Stamper 'Chevron Edgers #2 - 130 degrees' die set, Tip, at this stage I kept the panel wider and also taller than I knew it would be at the end, allowing room for some play
- snippets of pink and SU's 'Wisteria Wonder' card stock were then selected so I could match the colouring I intended to do
- stamped a cat from the Waffle Flower 'Flora Cat' stamp set onto the white panel - using the Misti and Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink
- coloured the decoration on the cat using Faber Castell Polychromos pencils
- then die cut the pink snippet using the same chevron edger dis as before and set it to one side
- stamped the words 'take care!' from the 'Flora Cat' set, using the Misti and Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink onto the 'Wisteria Wonder' snippet
- at that point I measured up the vertical centres of the panels, marked them using a soft pencil and then glued the three layers together
- only then, once the glue dried, did I trim the whole panel down to just under the size of the card front
- added the panel to the card front using a piece of white fun foam to lift it
- it looked a little bare to me, although I reckon it could have worked without more additions, but I did add a pink punched heart (SU's discontinued 'Itty Bitty Heart' punch, recently purchased from a SU pre-loved site) plus some sequins
The way I tackled the card is so much easier than trying to make everything line up to the exact dimensions as you go along - I made sure there was plenty of spare card to trim off the panel at the end of assembling it and it works a treat!
Love the chevron edger dies! The set comes with two dies, one is scalloped (the one I used) and the other one is straight stitched lines - perfect for male cards! Also, you can die cut and use the negative part of the cut as that is also designed to be used. A great set, you can use them at an offset angle of course rather then symmetrically. Oh, and of course you could use them as inverted V shapes as well! I make that eight options without even including the 'offset angle' idea. I was on a waiting list for them for absolutely ages and had almost given up hope! But, they arrived this past week and I just had to have a play of course :)
Probably don't need to spell out what this fortnight's prize is made up of do I then?
Oops, got my reflection again :)
I will split the prize if necessary, am mindful that not everyone would like both parts of the prize - although I do think they go together well. I'm more of a doggy person but can still see me using my own set of these stamps quite a lot - and they would look pretty good without any colouring either! And of course, you may already have the dies or very similar as they've been around for a little while now. But, as always - both items are one complete prize if you wish to play for them as a pair.
The Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks from now on and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 27th May. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.
It's still a maximum of ONE entry and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. The prize is both items together as a single prize, unless you really do only want to try for a 'split' - in which case I'd do a further draw for the other item. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.
Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you're wanting to be in the draw then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' just in case you're playing only for fun. Thanks!
Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone :)
Be sure to call back next week to see the winner of last fortnight's prize (those fabulous dies that you all seem to love!) plus my picks from the past two weeks - as well as another lovely guest designer too!
Love from Parsnip and of course from me,
Oh, this card is so sweet and feminine! Love this floral cat and the chevron edgers diecuts in pink and white on the grey base panel! Great make, very elegant, different and also fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm just in time to enter in the challenge and YES, please, I would love to win these wonderful prizes!

I'm pleased to hear that you are being given some attention and they are doing some tests! And I'm pleased to hear that your animal kingdom is flourishing! Thanks, as always, for another fun challenge! Lots of hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteA really pretty card Di, I love the combination of white, dusky pink and grey. Your design reminds me of looking at a corner of a pretty lacy tablecloth!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that your hospital visit went well. I will be playing along later in the week, but would love to be in the draw for the dies please.

You certainly keep coming up with some great snippets cards and the usual tips of how you achieved the result - always very helpful. Pleased to hear that the hospital visit appears positive for you. Just playing for fun this time.
ReplyDeleteMorning Di, l agree May already the time just goes so fast! Ooooh your card and image is so adorable l love it and the edged dies are so effective stunning as always hope you enjoy your day xx
ReplyDeleteHello, thats a really pretty card and the cat is just a sweetie. I'd like to take part in your challenge and its my first time so many apologies if I've done anything wrong, I'm like a little fish in vast open waters atm, but I'm getting back into the swing of things. Anyway, I will pop by all of your lovely blogs and leave a comment on your delights. Have a lovely day everyone x
ReplyDeleteOK I forgot to mention that I will play for both the dies and the stamps... sorry, my bad ;)
ReplyDeleteNot bad Claire - just new to the Playground. And very welcome you are. Added you to the list of 'prize players', think it's a popular one this fortnight! x
DeleteThank you for your nice comments on my blog. My apologies for the link error, it's been over 8 years since I last had an active blog - a touch rusty. Next time I'll nail it ;)
DeleteAwww, so sweet Di! Love the cute image and edge dies! I always love to see your delightful creations!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win this week awesome prize for both!!!
I love the cute cat Di and the shaped edger dies go beautifully with it and the pink and wisteria is a great colour combination too. So sorry I didn't get to play last time and especially as I was certain I would, but my card making has been a bit slower recently for various reasons, but will try to do better next time. I'm glad that your visit to the hospital has led to further investigations and hope that there are some positive outcomes. How lovely your hedgies are back and it is always lovely to see the birds coming to the garden too. We have quite a few house martins that come back to the village year after year, but not many in evidence yet. x
ReplyDeleteLovely card Di...unusual too! Just playing for the dies please this time round! Hugs xx

ReplyDeleteI have just entered my card Di and would love to be in the draw for both the cat stamps and the dies. Thank you for your enquiry. I am fine but my cardmaking has been rather spasmodic and have only been making cards when I have a specific reason.... I put it down to the lack of fat in my diet..lol, but I am trying to gee myself up a bit. x

Your sweet card is adorable and I always appreciate your tips and hints on how you put it together. My scrap pile never seems to get any smaller, no matter how many snippets I use, why is that?

Hi Di! I'm glad to hear the hospital visit went ok. I absolutely love your gorgeous kitty card. As I type this Tiger Lily is having a good growl at Spot because he is daring to go too near the window - silly cat! Yes please to super prize and hugs to you and Parsnip (air kisses at Spike & Co!) Xx
ReplyDeleteHi Di,
ReplyDeleteFinally made it over to the playground, it's been a mad few weeks and crafting has taken a back seat. So glad the hospital visit went well, here's hoping they come up with a solution for your pain very soon. Great card, love the CAS design! I adore hedgehogs, would love to have a Spike of my own. I did see a hedgie crossing the end of our road last week, it was quite late and the little chap was motoring along, clearly on a mission - made my day, I so rarely see them these days!!
Love to you and Parsnip,
Jacky x
P.S. Just playing for fun this time (wanted a go on the swings!!) Thank you!!
Hi Di,
ReplyDeleteAt time I don't enter very often here. But when I visit, I see wonderful inspiration projects. So why do I not pop in more frequently?

Hello. Very happy to be joining the fun at the snippets playground again. Please include me in the prize draw. Thanks for a fun place to play. Hugz
ReplyDeleteHi Miss Di and the lovely Parsnip.
ReplyDeleteYes if I'm lucky.
I seem to have got quite confused lately and think I have already entered, but on checking I notice I hadn't entered this time around.
It must be that the weeks are going by so fast.
So luckily my card posted had quite a few snippets die cuts, but as I said thought I had already entered.
Love your wonderful card and the design is super and gorgeous.
Love that wonderful V shape and the colours.
Hope all is okay as you have been for an Xray.
Usually you have a few more weeks wait for a scan.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
