Sent with love

Altenew goodies are always so lovely. I've been using their 'Vibrant Spray' die cut tape a lot recently and needed to order more from Seven Hills Crafts. Ooopsie, a roll of Altenew's 4.25" wide black and white striped washi tape also fell into my basket at the same time - and here's my first play with it. I had to take the photo at an angle - the sun was streaming in here:

I used:

- 5.5" x 4.25" white card blank, tent style

- piece of white card trimmed to 5.25" x 5.5" or so - just so long as there's extra width on each side, over the width of the washi tape

- then added the washi tape down the 5.25" length of the piece of card (it's called 'Gradient Lines' by Altenew) and wrapped it over the top and bottom of the piece of card

- then trimmed the sides of the resulting panel down to 4" width

- wrapped a piece of Altenew's 'Vibrant Spray' die cut tape around the panel, slightly lower than centre to allow for a sentiment. I had to hold the die cut tape in place with sellotape on the back of the panel BTW

- glued the whole panel to the card front

- added a pre-printed sentiment from the Clarity Stamps 'Clarity Christmas & Celebrations' set (so useful for speed!)

- finished!

Hey, ho - and it's another card for Darnell's NBUS Challenge #15. The 'Gradient Lines' washi tape is NBUS. I already had my pat on the back as a Random Pick - so why not come and play along too?

Dudley made a Father's Day card!

Well, I did really - but Dudley watched me very closely and gave it his 'nose dab' of approval every now and then:

I used:

- 5.5" x 4.25" white card blank, side opening

- piece of yellow paper from Lawn Fawn's 'Really Rainbow' paper pad, trimmed to 5.25" x 4", glued onto the card front

- snippet of white card, cut to 5" x 3.75" and set aside for now

- snippet of the Lawn Fawn yellow paper, stamped using a shirt stamp from Woodware's 'His Birthday' set of stamps and fussy cut

- then used a striped snippet from the same paper pad to stamp the tie, fussy cut it and glue onto the shirt front

- found another snippet in the same paper pad, this time red with a faint stripe - which I die cut using a Creative Dies 'Wonky Square' die - not that the faux stitching shows up too well in the photo

- checked where I wanted the image piece to go before stamping the sentiment using a Misti, Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and two different stamps. The 'You're so Special' is from the Hero Arts 'Truly Appreciated' sentiments set and the word 'Dad' came from the Woodware 'His Birthday' set of stamps

- glued the white panel on top of the yellow one

- adhered the red striped panel in place then added the shirt and tie to it

- finally .......... let Dudley blow a kiss into the card after I wrote it for him

Len loved it!

And the Woodware stamp set is yet another NBUS item, so I'm entering this into Darnell's NBUS Challenge #15. It's a great encouragement to break open something unused for sure!

Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #379 - results

 

We finally got some rain here! And then some! But, the grass is greener and the air is fresher as a result. OK, can we please have the sunshine back again? Apparently we can ....... according to the weather forecast it's going to hit new 'highs' this next week!

Let's move straight into this fortnight's picks:

This is two weeks running for Karthikha - Gold Star last time and a pick this time! I love this shaker card and the clever use of the interwoven snippets meant I had to share it with you for inspiration. Brilliant!

What a great card, made by Janice. It's 'punch art' made with a mix of dies and punches - and very cleverly done too! I used to make cards for a little boy who adored diggers and would have loved to have this as inspiration - err, instead I bought a die one year and other times used Len to create images using Clip Art.

I instantly knew this had to be a pick when I saw Charlotte's entry! What a cracking idea and a super way to use up snippets of course. A perfect card for a chap and so well explained by Charlotte - follow the link! Love it!

And last, but by no means least, take a look at this fabulous card, made by Franka - one of our newer Playmates. It's a double fold and to really appreciate it you need to check Franka's blog post out. She uses the name Inkami for her blog and what really delights me is that she uses my snippets card for inspiration. Not a CASE, it's always a lovely fresh twist based on one of the elements - in this case it's the roses on my snippets card I used for the challenge and such a compliment.

I've noticed that Franka tries to comment on all your entries and would love it if you could visit her to return the favour - comments are always so welcome as we all know. You won't regret it - her work is fabulous.

I managed to post off all Overseas prizes this past week. Spent ages weighing then checking and double checking the right postage. They're coming by Airmail so that's something for previous winners to look forward to!

Dudley finally had his grooming session yesterday/today actually as I type. He looks gorgeous, albeit so much shorter. The process was quite well controlled and I skipped to the head of the 'social distancing queue' for the other pet supplies. He's quiet right now so no photos - but nothing like as stressed as he was after his previous brutal treatment with the other 'groomer'. He's been treated with love and care - and for that we're so grateful.

Am more or less used to the new Blogger interface. Hooray! Time will tell if there are any hidden trip wires I guess.
