Running along with bunting

I think this is such a sweet image, it's from the Penny Black 'Love London' set, which is also ideal for the Olympics. And, the patriotic paper came from Forever Friend's 'Best of British' paper pack. It's a great pack and, apart from being perfect for the Jubilee and the Olympics, what's an added bonus is that the papers are double sided with more 'everyday designs' on the reverse, so they won't be wasted when all the fun and frolics are over:

I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card stock

- Penny Black image from the Penny Black 'Love London' set, stamped using Memento 'London Fog' (how appropriate!) and coloured with Pro Markers. Sentiment also from the same set, stamped in SU's 'Real Red' and the heart filled in with Pro Marker.

- paper from Forever Friend's 'Best of British' paper pack

- blue Core'dinations card for backings

- strip of red Core'dinations card, edged using a MS punch

- card candi

- little diamantes on the bunting string just to put the 'Diamond Jubilee' bit onto the card :)

I can't believe the cold, miserable weather over the past few days - I reckon these little chaps in the image should have had little pack a macks added to them!

I'm adding this into St. Luke's Charity Cards Challenge, where this month's theme is to feature a furry animal. OK, so a hedgehog is prickly but the little mouse is furry! Why not make a card and join in the fun?

And after a prompt from Jen, I'm also entering this into Digi Doodle Shop's current challenge which is 'Get the bunting out'. Ahem, it's more like wring the bunting out, yet another wet day :(

Rudolph Day - January 2012

Every 25th of the month is Rudolph Day and your chance to make a Christmas card ready for next Christmas - more if you wish! More details at the end of this posting. I almost got caught out so rustled up three cards all the same yesterday:
Whilst tidying in here, making some room to craft without having to kneel on the floor, I found some stash that I hadn't put away from before Christmas so used that. Rubbish photo - by the time I'd finished the light was going :(

I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card

- image and backing papers from the Forever Friends Timeless paper pack (bought in Hobbycraft)

- pearlised mink and white card - also from Hobbycraft - for the backings

- sentiment from Craftwork Cards

- snowflakes from a pack made by KanBan

- a teensy little diamante gem at the top of the Christmas tree in front of the cottage - from a pack of nail art gems bought in the local Pound Shop ages ago (not for my nails either - I wondered if they'd come in handy one day for crafting)

Why not join in the fun, make a Christmas card and hop over to Sandra's blog, Stamping For Pleasure to see what she made and also to link in 'cos there's a prize too :))

Have fun!

Forever Friends Christmas card and a Cuttlebug to win

First of all - 'eyes right!' and take a peek on my sidebar. My great friend, The Crafty Elf, is offering a Cuttlebug as Christmas Blog Candy! Phew, how generous! Go and see - and, while you're there it's worth taking a good look round all of the Elf's Christmas tips too. I actually know the Elf's 'human' name but am sworn to secrecy - it's a lovely name but I have to respect Elfin secrets!!

And onto today's card, I love this paper pack - it's called Timeless by Forever Friends - and it comes with topper sheets too!  Plus, the papers are an unusual colour for Christmas, sort of shades of mink. There are 12 toppers in the pack and I'm sure there's enough paper to make 12 cards - if I go 'canny-ways' as they say 'oop North' - ie. carefully:

The papers are pearlised so apologies for the light bouncing around - it's was so dark when I took this photo yesterday I had to use the daylight lamp :(

I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card

- image and backing papers from the Forever Friends Timeless paper pack (bought in Hobbycraft)

- pearlised mink and white card - also from Hobbycraft - for the backings

- sentiment from Craftwork Cards, on a die cut circle on mink pearlised card

- organza ribbon from stash

- a twinkling of Glamour Dust on Santa Bear's hat, cuffs and the tree decorations

I made three the same of this card - I seem to like little production lines at the moment, and panic is setting in here just a little bit :)) I don't really want to be like a whirling dervish in December!

Remember to go and see the blog candy, link on my sidebar :)

Yesterday was Rudolph Day - Forever Friends

Sandra (Stamping With Pleasure) dared me to join in Rudolph Day. Basically, as I understand it, you make a Christmas card (or maybe something Christmassy?) on the 25th of each month throughout the year. I'm always up for a dare - got me into a lot of trouble at school for sure - and I liked the sound of this one. Firstly as I have only one, made for a challenge a month or two ago, lonely looking Christmas card in my special box and secondly 'cos I need a swift kick in the rear end so as not to be in a total panic in December. Mind you - we send a lot of cards for Christmas so I also have a LOT to make....maybe 10 on the 25th of each month might help :)

So, yesterday I rootled round in my Christmas stash from years gone by for the makings of a quick card. This used no stamping, no colouring, no die cutting, no ribbons, no flowers.............it did make me realise how much we do change our ways over the course of a year. But, it was quick, easy and kinda cute:

It's a Forever Friends Bear of course - but I confess it's from an embossed transfers set:( It's my favourite of of the three transfers that came in the set - bought goodness knows when but it was a bargain I seem to remember so I got a couple of sets and will rustle up a second one the same I think. The Santa Bear was transferred onto brown card then layered onto deep red card - both from my snippets :) I resisted the urge to add some white Flower Soft to the fur trimmings as I wasn't sure it would look right with the brown papers.

The background paper is - you guessed - wrapping paper. I bought it ages ago and of course it's a cheap way to make a background. As often happens, the two browns in the card and the backing paper haven't come out the same in the photo but they're a perfect match in real life. Bernie explained the reason to me a while back, all to do with dyes and inks, so I don't fret if I know it looks fine to the naked eye.

Whilst rummaging round I did come across four House Mouse stamps plus some LOTV ones from last year, so some colouring is on the cards next (colouring, on the cards, geddit?). Ho, ho, ho - am gonna be getting festive for at least one day a month.

That reminds me, the new LOTV Christmas stamps are out  - not all are tugging at my heart strings, or should that be purse strings, but one or three are calling to me so I just might hop over to their website in a moment or two! Always dangerous though.
