Oh well, we're into Lockdown 2 here in England - as predicted. A huge thank you to all the idiots who helped us into it by ignoring the COVID rules - and as we know, they're probably unlikely to be badly affected by it themselves, such selfish people. None of us want to be in this situation but it is what it is and we just have to get on with it.
Our NHS is carrying out an ongoing study into a cross section of the population to ascertain the presence of COVID antibodies. My name popped up in their random selection process and the other day I did the home test - which came out as negative, which was no surprise. The toughest part was completing the online questionnaire - which only just stopped short of asking why I was born!
Let's dive straight in with my picks from the previous challenge - which was so, so hard to whittle down this time:
I really love this card - it's such traditional choice of colours for a Christmas card, looks really stylish and also, Karen (of karenscardkorner) used up a good few snippets in her really lovely design.
Great use of loads of little snippets on this super card, made by Katrina to celebrate one of her nephews passing his driving test. I love all the little signs and bet it took a fair bit of planning and making - great stuff!
Such a lovely Autumn wreath card, made and shared with us by Heather. I love absolutely everything about this card - and the dog tooth check paper just pulls the whole design together perfectly!
So that's three picks, as is almost always the case. It's a bit busy here and I'm typing like crazy even though, given more time, I certainly could have added a few more picks from my initial list of possibles!
We also had three new Playmates:
Joy Stagg |
Hayley |
ScrappyHorses |
Welcome to the Playground girls - lovely entries and do please come back and play again soon.
We had 62 entries in total - perhaps the rather nice prize had something to do with it, It's certainly very heartening to see!
Now for the prize draw, which is a set of Lawn Fawn 'Be Hap-pea' stamps and matching dies. And the winner is:
Congratulations Kate. Just shows how worthwhile it was coming back to play with us - all the way from Spain! I'm so pleased for you, and from your comment when you entered your snippets card (which was on my initial short list as a possible pick!) I think I know where the first card you make using these goodies will be heading! Please send me your address, even if you know that I know it already, with your full name at the top as well so I can copy and paste for speed and ease. It's also confirmation that you still would like the prize of course and I'll do my best to post your prize ASAP this coming week. Please put Playground Winner or similar in the subject line of your email in case it drops into my junk mail. Email address is on RH sidebar as always.
Remember folks, there's still another week to run on Challenge #390 HERE. The prize is a set of Lavinia 'Whimsical Hares' stamps, an Inkylicious 'Mountain & Valley Sun/Moon' Stencil & Masks template plus a set of 10 lovely soft make-up brushes for blending inks.
Dudley
is off for a grooming session on Thursday afternoon. We'll have the usual performance of me having to drag him through the store on his bottom no doubt. They're only allowed to groom dogs for 'reasons of welfare' as per Government Guidelines at the moment. So, when they phoned to let me know, it seems as if he'll be bathed, brushed and dried - but no overall trim. Apart from between the pads on his little feet, around his eyes/face - and the 'other end'. As well as having his nails clipped. They can only do a full body trim on dogs that are heavily matted and need to be shaved down. It's a bit weird really as I still have to go and drop him off and collect him so I can't really understand why the limitation has been set. If it continues then we may have to finally bite the bullet and set to with the clippers.
He's still loving his home baked treats and has one at breakfast time each morning. Len calls them 'Doggy Flapjacks'!
The little monkey (Dudley) had us laughing earlier in the week. His morning walk is always his main toilet time of the day. We always carry 'poo bags' when he's out and about but it's easier if he 'performs' at home. First of all he's let out into the back garden, sometimes it's just a wee and nothing more. So then he likes to poke around on the artificial lawn in the front garden as he sets off for his walk. A neighbour's cat (Penny) is often curled up in the border and Dudley likes to mosey on over to gaze at her and pay his polite respects. We think he was too close the other day and Penny hissed at him in warning. Whereupon Dudley turned his back to her, then crouched and produced a nice poop for her inspection! Almost as if to say, 'Take that if you're gonna be rude to me'! He is so like a naughty little boy at times!
Love from Parsnip, a happy 'high-five' and woof from Dudley - and of course hugs as always from me. Stay safe, wear those masks - and keep on crafting.
Great picks! Love the Dudley stories--made me laugh! Fritz acts like he isn't going to do anything when we get near a cat & then suddenly he tries to run. I have to have a firm grip on the expandable leash! Covid is way higher here, but no lockdown. Avoiding haircuts for us as long as possible, but they aren't closed. The groomer is considered "pet care" so has been open all along. I agree on your groomer rules not making much sense. You're so right--people are selfish & stupid not wearing masks & social distancing. Sad state of affairs! Thank goodness we have our crafting & so many friends we never see in person anyway--so take that, Covid!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see Kate win! Some lovely pics, and newly discovered bloggers for me to follow. Dudley is so funny giving the cat a pressie! Mad rules about grooming, I expect there’s a good reason, just wish they explained a bit more xxx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Kate on the win and what a fab selection for your top picks, Di - Congratulations to those too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday to you all
Kathyk
Great picks as always and lovely to see some new playmates. Congratulations to the winner of course. Good luck at the groomer's this week - just had to smile at your penultimate paragraph - typical naughty male!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous picks Di and many congratulations to Kate enjoy your win...never a wrong word spoken so many idiots and like you wrote they won’t be the ones getting the virus 🦠let’s just hope they have a heart this time and realise we are all in it together and hopefully thins this pass take care enjoy your day hugs to Dudley love what he gets up too x
ReplyDeleteSome really lovely picks as usual Di, and yes so agree re the limited grooming rules, very weird, it’s almost as if they want them really bad before they’re done. “Curiouser and curiouser”, as Alice would say... or dinna make sense!
ReplyDeleteDudley is definitely a hoot! Life is very varied!
Keep safe and well over there.
Thanks for sharing, and God bless, Shaz in Oz.x

Lovely picks again. I can imagine you dragging Dudley across the floor. If you didn't have a leash on him he'd be out the door before it closed. Dogs has such a keen sense of smell so he knows where he's at when you open the door to the doggie salon. Glad to hear he's enjoying his treats. I still want to know WHEN you and Len are going to try them. I'm in agreement about people having no respect for this COVID until it hits someone in their family. I can't wait for a safe vaccine that will work. [Bunny]
ReplyDeleteThe world may have gone slightly(!) mad, but at least it's business as usual and some fun to be had in the Snippets Playground. YAY!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Kate on her win.
Congrats also to those who have been showcased. Waving hello to the newbies.
Good luck for Thursday Di.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
What great picks you have. It's nice to see new people join in too. What a fun story about Dudley and the cat. He sure got his point across!
ReplyDeleteThanks for highlighting my card! So many wonderful creations and a big congrats to Kate!
ReplyDeleteGreat picks, Di, and congrats to the winners!
ReplyDeleteDogs! Gotta love 'em but sometimes their messages can be so funny and precise
Great picks as usual Di! Sorry you are on lockdown again... now that the election is over, I have a feeling we might be headed that way in the USA.... Maddie has a grooming appt on Friday... and it's HER BIRTHDAY! 5 years old... I didn't think about it when I booked the appointment... that's not a very nice birthday present from me to her :)
ReplyDeleteNot fair...I had a sip of coffee in my mouth when I read the Dudley poo story! Thank you so much for picking my card, though. Congrats to the other picks and Kate's winning the prize. I'll be playing again next round, not only for the challenge, but for the antics of your precious fur babies!
ReplyDeleteFabulous picks as usual, and welcome to the three new playmates, and congratulations to Kate for winning the lovely prize this time. Your Dudley stories always make me smile and hope you manage to get him into the groomer without too many problems. As you say it does seem strange that they can do some things but not others as they are open, but there do seem to be a lot of different interpretations of rules all over the place, but never mind. Glad your home baked treats are a highlight of his breakfast time and more nutritious than the bought ones. x
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks for making me one of your picks and congrats to the others & Kate. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteKatrina x
Congratulations to all the winners, well done! xx
ReplyDeleteA fabulous array of picks, some really great cards. Oh how I would love to be a secret shopper in the store when you take Dudley for grooming. I think that I am pretty handy with clippers so would love to stand in if
ReplyDeleteyou have any problems getting him to store. You can't ask my Mum but you could ask my Sister for a recommendation, oh better not????
Have a lovely week
Kath x
Lovely picks and congrats to the winner! You made me laugh with the "Dudley's poo story" :D Such mischievous dog!!
ReplyDeleteHugs (and cuddles to him)
Gorgeous picks, congrats to Kate and nice to see new playmates. Hugz
ReplyDeleteGood I have carrots on my shopping list for delivery this afternoon then!!!! Email on the way. Hugs me.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous picks, Di xoxo
ReplyDeleteThere were so many wonderful entries, and it makes me heart HAPPY to see people using their precious snippets. Our paper scraps don't belong in the trash....they need to used creatively (like all these entries have done). LOVE this challenge so much. Thanks for hosting it, Diane.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it doesn't make any sense to limit Dudley's grooming session to the bare minimum when your exposure is the same whether he has a full trim or just a pat on the head and a "good boy". Since I do all of Toby's grooming at home, I have no idea if they are allowing regular appointments at groomers here or not. Thank goodness I'm handy with the trimmers, and Toby is clueless about my lack of design skill, haha!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winner and top picks! So many gorgeous cards to admire there.
Fabulous choices as always Di! Congratulations to everyone.
