Pixie's Snippets Playground #342 - Prize K

Here's the next prize in the 'Snippets Playground Celebration' prize draw - I posted this card on the blog way back in April 2013 and it's still one of my very favourite images for Christmas cards although I don't use it enough, so here it is again with a reminder about how I made it. It's so long ago that I didn't even have a watermark - and in those days I added ribbon, charms or buttons and pretty twine to most of my cards! A technique I still love but rarely have time for these days:
I used:

- 5" x 7" white card stock

- Nellie Snellon image called 'Hokey-pokey', stamped in Memento 'Tuxedo Black', coloured with Pro Markers and tickled with Glamour Dust here and there

- SU glittery silver card, scallop die cut for behind the image and then cut with the 'scallop' blade on my Woodware trimmer for behind the patterned card and sentiment

- Kanban's 'Merry Mistletoe' patterned card - I love the soft blue and lovely pattern of this card for a change and still use it loads - even almost six years later!

- sentiment is by Hero Arts called 'Twinkle Border', bought for a 'snip' and then bravely embossed with Stampendous 'Sterling Silver' without any mishaps

- iridescent ribbon wrapped round the patterned card and topped with a 'looped bow thingy' then an iridescent sparkly snowflake button, threaded with doubled iridescent cord tied in a bow - that's a lorra iridescent :)

And today's prize is:
Three chances to win one of these adorable little stamps - which are a delight to colour in. Remember, it's called 'Hokey-pokey' by Nellie Snellon. Took a bit of tracking them down as the stamp was first made at least six or so years ago but I'm sure the winners will absolutely adore this little poppet! She looks really lovely in traditional red and green of course.

In case anyone is wondering if I robbed a craft shop or a bank, apart from one prize coming up later which was donated by a very sweet friend, I bought all the prizes out of Parnip's illicit earnings from selling hooch behind the Playground bike shed! Joke! I already said that I look for the best deals I can find over a lot of the year, without going for cheap stuff. Only offer prizes I really like, am happy to use and would have chosen for myself - which is why 99% of the time I make a sample card to show how you could use your prize if you win. Just thought you might be imagining me with a pair of tights over my head, Pro marker masquerading as a pistol, Parsnip with a Zorro mask on waving a pokey tool as a weapon .............. and Dudley keeping lookout, ready to run away and leave us if needs be, or just to flop down flat and disguise himself as a sheepskin rug ☺

At the end of all of the celebrations I'll do a massive draw session for all the prizes using the one Mr Linky - which is on the main snippets post HERE - so you do need to have entered one snippets make over on that post during this fortnight to be in with a chance :) Maximum of one entry please - to keep things fair for those who may not have time to craft. Mr Linky closes at 11am on Saturday 5th January so you do need to have added a snippets make by then to be eligible for the draw.

Just leave a comment on this post if you would like the chance to win today's prize.

Hope you've recovered from New Year celebrations by now. Dudley has, but it was a bit too close for comfort. We went to bed early and at 10:30pm as it was all still quiet Len took Dudley into the garden for a toilet trip ........... and with brilliant timing someone let off a really loud firework/banger. Poor little chap shot back into the house like a rocket himself and was shaking like a leaf for a while. Ha, ha - Dudley wasn't too happy either ☺☺ So, Dudley spent the night on our bed once he'd calmed down. We had the TV on to muffle the outside noises and of course he's so soft and cuddly there was a lot of hugs for him. We don't think there's likely to be any long term effect although his head was popping up every time there was another outburst of fireworks. Needless to say I'm absolutely furious - I've always thought it so unfair and of course, since I last had dogs, things have become much worse. Ha! It remains to be seen if he thinks he's sleeping on the bed tonight though, have given him a fresh 'milky flavoured' nylon puppy chew bone and that may well help! He's teething and those bones plus a couple of others we have (thanks Sarn, he loves and uses his red rubber one in the patio pen!) are so valuable.

Keep on checking in - more to come :) I need to clear this Toy box of all that is Christmas - and also give the ladies at the Post Office the vapours when I trundle in with a huge bag or three of packages to post!

Love from Parsnip, Dudley and of course me,

  1. That is such a gorgeous stamp Di - yes please to win it

We were bombarded with noise on NYE - some one had firewotks on the beach just along from us and two other lots were a few hoses back. Sorry but I do not enjoy all the loud bangs

  2. I'm all for the illicit story about selling the hooch. That cracks me up. I come from a long line of bootleggers and can picture this happening. However, we don't want Dudley to learn any bad habits and don't want him to think there's a way to purchase extra milk bones.

We wondered how there could be so many people around the neighborhood that had so much disposable income to blow up in fireworks. I hope there aren't any leftovers for tonight.

Oh how lovely your card is. Such sparkle. This is a huge yes to the prize. Please and thank you. [Bunny]

  3. How gorgeous card with that cute stamp and all the sparkling o it and around on the frames! Love the ribbon, too! Very elegant! Yes for this prize, please :)
I'm still giggling for your hilarious story about you, Parnsnip and Dudley robbing a craft shop or a bank... :D Such fool scene!!!:D :D
Poor Dudley and all the animals scared by the fireworks... :( I hate them too, their bangs seem a war to me, not a happy habit.
    Hugs and Happy 2019

  4. The picture in my mind of you with tights over your head--had to giggle out loud! So sorry Dudley got traumatized, but always good to have more excuses for extra cuddles! This card is absolutely gorgeous, Di--love the ribbon treatment! Please leave me out of the drawing. Happy, Happy New Year!

  5. Hi Di, a very pretty card, love the tale of you and Parsnip robbing a craft store but, I can just see Dudley being Parsnips getaway dog. Have a wonderful week... Megan (no to today's prize)

  6. Wow, what a gorgeous card..even though it's got more embellishment than you use these days. Love all that glitter, which gives it a magical feel and goes perfectly with the sweet little Christmas fairy. Awww, poor little Dudley. What a rude thing to be startled in his own yard. I hope he hasn't had any lingering fears from that ordeal and that his potty training wasn't pushed back weeks. Yes please to this cute stamp.

  9. I knew it wouldn't take him very long, but didn't think you'd fall into the trap of having him on your bed so soon!
Joking aside, I love fireworks, but hate seeing animals suffer because of them. We are lucky, only one distant display here, would be much better if everyone went to the big displays instead.
Very pretty card Di, and another lovely prize
    Yes please :) xxx

  11. Such a sweet card! Yes please to the prize. Hope Dudley is recovered from the scare of the fireworks. As pretty as I can be I've really come to dislike them, a big part of which is because of the effect they have on animals. It just seems so unfair. x

  13. Your card is so pretty and that blue is lovely. Poor Dudley! Luckily we didn't have any fireworks nearby, but we could see some further away in the village. I hope he has recovered and doesn't want to be on your bed again :) . Oh and I will be a yes please for the cute stamp, thank you xx

  20. This is the cutest card ever! It just makes me smile. I love the paper, the sparkle, her little foot reaching out, her wand and that sparkling snowflake. I'm relieved there has been no bank robbing or any crime involved in this give away. I take Molly out around 10 pm on New Years Eve to avoid the fireworks. They are loud and she runs right back to the door too. Dudley will be happy to continue sleeping in your bed now that he knows what it's like! May be a happy blessing for him.

  22. Yes, please. You always have a good tale to tell. We were all in bed before the fireworks began at our house. All three of our cats were with us in bed however.

  24. Your card is absolutely gorgeous, Di! Love the colour, love the sparkle, and love the silver embossed sentiment! Sweeeeet! I'll be a "yes, please" for this prize too! Poor Dudley! I know how you feel as two of my kitties are terrified of fireworks, or any loud noise or siren, really. Thankfully we live out in the country now so we don't have to worry about fireworks this time of year (too cold!), but there are some locals who set of fireworks for Canada Day in July, and the poor kitties hide under the bed, scared to death. I hope Dudley forgets all about it and focuses on that milky chew bone! Thank you for your generosity in prizes, Di, it is truly appreciated. You certainly have sought out a lot of awesome deals for us!

  31. Your card is simply adorable Di! I love that little fairy girl on top of the presents, too cute! Love the beautiful papers you have chosen as well. The glitter and the pattern paper work so well together. But it was your post that had me chuckling! I can so identify with the New Year's Eve firecrackers. We have it hear too and people shot off their guns. First we had a winter thunder storm, so Kahlua didn't know what the heck was going on, then the firecrackers started and then come midnight, the shooting began with the firecracker. It was crazy and Kahlua didn't like it one bit. Savannah, she could have cared less. lol I guess she is a pro at it now. Hope Dudley is better and I hope Parsnips doesn't get caught selling hooch behind the Playground bike shed! I can see you now with a pair of tights over your head, a Pro marker masquerading as a pistol and Parsnip with his Zorro mask waving a pokey tool as a weapon. That just had me rolling! Dudley, I can see him ditching the both of you and disguising himself as a sheepskin rug for sure. lol Thanks for the laugh Di! Happy New Year, hugs, Brenda
