ScrappyMo's Rudolph Days Challenge is one event I won't miss - it helps to boost my very small (for me) supply of cards for Christmas 2019 for a start! And Maureen is such a sweet lady you really should join in if you don't do so already! I can still see me buying a lot of cards this year - and having come to terms with that - do feel less stressed about targets etc. Amazing what we put ourselves through isn't it?!
This is what I made - hopefully 'simple but effective':
I used:
- 5.5" x 4.25" white card blank, side opening
- a 'ready made up' topper, which was included in an order from Tracey at 'Dies To Die For' some while ago. Am not sure that my recent orders have included little 'freebies' - but this one from an old(ish) order has been on my desk for quite some time, patiently waiting to be used
- backed the topper with a scalloped circle, using a snippet of matching red card and a scalloped edged die by Spellbinders, then glued both layers together
- time to look at the card blank and, though I wanted to keep it simple, it was too plain. So, I used my Scor-pal to run tram lines down the right hand side and across the bottom of the card front
- then stamped the sentiment using a stamp from Uniko's 'Most Wonderful' set of sentiment stamps and my usual Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink pad - and the Misti of course. I did need two stampings for the intensity I wanted, so thank goodness for the Misti!!
- finally just added the little topper using thin sticky pads. The pads are so thin that, although they add dimension, they also post as a normal letter rate card! Mine are usually made by Sellotape and I buy them online
So that's my total now up to 27 cards made for Christmas 2019.
This is cute and a bonus that it mails as regular rate. My favorite! [Bunny]`
ReplyDeleteThat is a darling Christmas scene. I love this card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous freebie!
ReplyDeleteThat is one cute penguin and i love the bright colours of the card stock!

Once healed I can get back to your challenge, Mrs A's challenge and my Christmas Card Club!

ReplyDeleteHow cute Christmas CAS!! Lovely design and that penguin makes me smile!!
ReplyDeleteSuper sweet RD card Di. I agree with your sentiment about what we put ourselves through as card makers, and like you, I will be using shop bought cards as well as hand made again this year.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sarn xxx
It may be simple but as you say effective - love this little penguin topper.
ReplyDeleteA lovely card and such a cute image.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about targets - I think we all put too much pressure on ourselves. A lot of the cards I sent last Christmas were super quick to make!

ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet, Di. I've already made my first Christmas card, and although it won't be blogged for months, it's the earliest I've ever created one! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSuper adorable penguin, next to house mouse and cats they are a favourite love the little scene you made and the red scarf just puts that extra pop of colour. great thinking about the scoring although there are some that love all that white blank space, (shudder). Super card.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Di anything to do with Penguins 🐧 l just love all the more great layout too x
ReplyDeleteI adore your cute penguin Di and love the bright red scalloped mat behind, and a great sentiment to finish it too. x

Such a sweet card, Di. I'm behind on my Christmas cards, but I intend to make duplicates when I can. In addition, Ardyth (MASKerade) and Ingrid (Creative Grove) challenged each other to create 5 Christmas cards using a single set, and they are inspiring me to try and do the same. And yes, Maureen's challenges are a good incentive too.

This is an adorable Christmas card Di!!! I love that little penguin and I love how you put this cute scene in your scallop. So fun, so cute!!! I might have to CAS this one! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the RD win! Nice you'll have a prize coming with all the prizes you send out! Just read your comment on my blog--love hearing about Dudley! Schnauzers are very vocal, too, when anyone comes hear their property--including walking across the street! Fritz is the first one we've had who will actually stop when I tell him no, but then if I go in the other room he's likely to start up again! If they're in the house he just wants to be included, but not everyone is comfortable with a curious puppydog sniffing them--haha! Cold is better, but coughing spells are obnoxious! Hugs, Greta
ReplyDeletesuch a cute and festive CAS card, di! congratulations on your rudolph days challenge win! thank you for playing along with the april rudolph days challenge.
