Less is More #336 and #337 - OLC coloured Cardbase

The current challenge over at Less is More had me chewing my thumb nail for a while, not the one layer stipulation - but because I very rarely use coloured card as a base these days.

This is what I came up with - not very adventurous but rather pretty in real life (despite being an absolute 'piggy-wiggy' to photograph!):

This photo has slightly picked up the shimmer from the Brilliance ink layers

I used:

 - 4" x 5.75" card blank, made using Neenah 'Desert Storm' card stock

 - Penny Black stamp called 'dreamy' and the Misti to position the stamp first of all

 - tapped all over the stem using VersaMark 'Hint of Pesto' chalk in pad and stamped it a couple of times

 - tapped Memento 'Summer Sky' dye ink all over the wispy fronds and stamped

 - next added some Brilliance 'Pearlescent Lavender' to the middle part of the wispy fronds and over stamped 

- then added some Brilliance 'Pearlescent Orchid' to the lower section of the wispy fronds and overstamped

 - added a sentiment from the Paper Smooches ''Sentiment Sampler' set, using VersaMagic 'Hint of Pesto'

I'm always in a quandry here over Sympathy cards. When you need one you generally need it fast. But if you make one or two in advance to have ready, then it maybe doesn't seem as personal (to me at least). I guess the balance is to keep one or two on standby for those times when you just wouldn't be able to produce one quite quickly.

    Very elegant and pretty :) that flower is lovely and I love the color gradient look you gave it. I haven't made any sympathy cards yet but I think I should have a few too.

    I do love the blended colors and the shine. I agree when you need them it's right away. I am going to make a few as I have two people really very sick. It is such a hard thing to do but I know it brings comfort to others.

    Elegant and calming, a perfect sympathy card. I feel a bit superstitious about keeping sympathy cards in, as if it is tempting fate, so I have a few very quick and simple designs that I can make in a matter of minutes when I need one

    Beautiful card which I know has to be impressive in real life. Great for a sympathy card - unusual font too which is an extra touch.

    A lovely card. The pearlescent inks are beautiful!! - I try and keep a couple of sympathy cards on hand as you generally get no warning when they will be needed, and if you are busy... a handmade card is always appreciated, taylor-made or not the recipient doesn't know that!!

    That's a very elegant sympathy card Di.

    For what it's worth, I like to have a couple to hand, because, like you say, you often need them in a hurry, and it's difficult to feel creative when feeling sad. The words inside are the most important thing generally anyway!

    A beautiful card, I love your stamped flower. I usually keep a card in my box for the times I need one quickly but don't have the time to make one - I think it's the message inside which makes it personal.

    Hello Di. Beautiful card. I love the colors you used; reminds me of a peacock feather. I can understand about making a card in advance but it definitely is nice to have some on hand. Think of it like your Christmas cards. You make them in advance, with love.
    I bought myself a VW Bee convertible!! Retirement is going to be great.

    This is so beautiful! The colours you have used on that fabulous stamp are gorgeous! I think it's a good idea to keep cards like this in reserve. Sometimes you just can't make one when the need unfortunately arises. Hugs xxxxxxx
