Here's the/our snippets card for this week - and in fact it's not my card at all! It was made by Janice HERE and I loved it so much it was an instant choice as a weekly pick. I also wanted to offer what Janice used as a prize. I was also very cheeky and asked Janice if I could use her card to showcase the goodies - she kindly agreed and so here it is:
Now for a peek at my picks from the past week:
As always, I could carry on with more picks - but time is extra-precious right now. Goodness know how I found time to write this post to be honest.
We had 54 Playmates playing along this last week - with two new little friends joining us:
Love this card too, made by Anna of 'Karasiowa' - a beautiful vintage piece, using loads of snippets and so very tactile as well.
Hope you come back soon to play along with us :)
This coming week's prize is, as usual, linked to a snippets card - not mine, it's Janice's card:
It's the Marianne Design Creatables - Shoe die (LR0291) and the Docrafts - Xcut Embossing Folder - Wicker. Both items are on order (the embossing folder has just arrived here in fact!) so I had to 'borrow' these images for now! You get a better idea of the finished effect if you look at Janice's card (above) of course.
The toy box is actually looking a little bit empty right now after all the Christmas prizes have flown off - but in a lot of ways that's a good thing. Fresh start and all that - although I DO still have some wonderful prizes that have been donated, yet to give away, some have been here for a loooong time as well! After that I might move away from the 'showcase the prize idea' as this craft room can't take much more! But my plan is to still offer prizes, although perhaps not every single week - but these are just vague ideas at the moment. To be honest it's come close to me locking the Playground gates for good more than once over the last 12 months - but in the absence of anyone wanting to totally take it over I'm soldiering on for as long as possible. I was advised that a DT (Design Team) is like 'herding cats' so really don't want to even think about going down that road. I have really appreciated the times that some of you have stepped in to take over the commenting and weekly picks for me so please never feel that your efforts didn't make a massive difference!
Prize draw time now and our winner of the Lil' Inker 'Filled Christmas Trees' stamp set and pair of matching dies is:
And here's the confession - I'm going on 'teachers training' later this week so that was what all the panic and running round was after New Year. Right now I'm still scurrying round but feeling more in control having decided that some things will just have to 'slide'. In all the rush though I managed to overdo things with this ole back of mine so have been snuggled up to the heat pad for a couple of days. I think the heat pad will be coming with me!
So, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks this time and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 21st January. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.
A maximum of ONE entry and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of this fortnight's prize. You might wish to play for one or other of the items and if so please say in your comment and if you win then I'd do a second draw for the other part of the prize. I think they work so well together though. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.
Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone :)
Have a lovely week! I'll be watching and hopefully commenting from elsewhere. Love from Parsnip (poor baby, he'll be in charge of the Playground aka 'Home Alone' ) - and of course me,
See Di, I am sticking with my New Years resolution :) - my date is behind - due to the time difference between the US and England - I hope you don't mind....Such an elegant shoe card! The embossing folder fits perfectly! Great showcase - as usual. This week I am just playing along for fun.
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful cards! Love the elegance of the black and white! I would love to win this...I will be entering in the morning US time. Hugs, Robin
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely surprise that you picked my card to show ,in such esteemed company of all those fab picks, thank you so much. I really like that new year clock, but all the picks are fab, and I like the elegant shoe card. I'll just play for fun this time, good luck with the training, I can't believe you are managing that as well, no wonder some things have to slide! I'm sure we'll all appreciate whatever you can do to keep the gates open, life just wouldn't be the same. Please look after yourself, don't forget the heat pad xxx
ReplyDeleteI'll be entering my card in a few hours but will be playing just for fun this week. :-D Love the shoe!!
ReplyDeleteOh what a bummer your back is acting up again--so sorry, Di! I don't know how you keep up The Playground, but am glad you aren't locking it up. Would it help to do 2 wk challenges all the time? I'd be glad to have a bit more time to get something made. Love Janice's elegant card & all the great picks! I'll play just for the embossing folder. Take care--hope the training goes well! PS--glad you like the card--I was thinking we both love pink, so that's why I chose that one.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and I can surely see why you let Janice's card show off the prize!! Wow. Yes, please, to the prize this fortnight.
ReplyDeleteThank you for choosing my card as one of your picks this week. I am honored for it to be among that line up of amazing creations.
Take care of yourself and have a good time at training.

Di... I'm so sorry to hear that the Playground has caused you such grief at times... but I'm not surprised as you do so much and put so much time and effort into it - that's easy to see.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Playground could take a proper break for a bit and you could put yourself first for a change? Or at least as Greta suggested change to bi weekly or even monthly?
I hate to think of you soldering on because you feel you have to... That actually makes me feel quite sad.
X
How fun that you shared Janice's great card as it showcases the prizes perfectly! And I'm glad it gave you a bit of a break, Di, although writing up this weekly Snippets post with all the highlighted cards is VERY time-consuming in itself! We so appreciate all you do for this challenge, especially during those times when you have felt like carp! I hope you, Len, and the HP enjoy your time away and that you stay fit as a fiddle! And don't worry about the Playground ~ Hammy and I have booked a flight for two days from now to help keep the Parsnip company. I'm teaching Hammy "proper English" without a bit of pepper so's not to lead the poor lad astray! Please disregard any police dispatches that might popup in your feedster whilst you're on your hols! xxoo Darnell
ReplyDeleteI love that showcased card. I think I left a comment that I thought it was so elegant!
ReplyDeleteIt is perfect to showcase this weeks prize!
How many clever inspiration!! Love them all and Janice 's card is really a brilliant exemple of CAS, so elegant and feminine :D !Wow!
ReplyDeleteWow, I love that elegant CAS card but am so sorry to hear that you've overdone it and caused your back to flare up again. Congrats on your new teacher training adventure. Yes please to the fun prize, so one of us can make a card as pretty as your sample!
ReplyDeleteLots to take in here today Di and as I need to reply to you anyhow will mail you shortly so as to save the arm and hand.
ReplyDeleteB x
Back to drop off a card! Thanks for our fun challenge and all the hard work you do to make it so fun!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards :) love all the inspiration!! Yes please for the prizes :) would love to play along and glad that we have 2 weeks to get an entry in. This is a wonderful place full of support and creative ideas and i really hope it continues.

Lovely make and selections again this week, as always. Congratulations to you, Jane on your win.
ReplyDeleteJust playing for fun this week
Happy Sunday
Kathyk
More great picks this week and another card for inspiration. I'm sure you know that what you do for the playground is very much appreciated but of course you must consider your own health and happiness as well so if the gates are opened fortnightly or even monthly so be it. Hope the 'training' goes well and that you don't have any more back problems while you are away - take care. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI will pop a card on shortly but only playing for fun this time.
I love Janice's card snippets card, so classy in black and white. Gorgeous picks too, especially love the spinner card - such a clever design. Congratulations to Jane on her win.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you've overdone it and your back is playing up again, Di. Enjoy your 'teacher training' and remember to take it easy. However you decide to change the format of the Playground, has to be what's best for you. I just hope the Playground gates stay open, as it's a great place to hang out. xx
What a lovely card from Jane and a super prize Di.Yes please to the chance. So many lovely picks too. Enjoy your teacher's training and look after that back. You know how I appreciate your hard work here but I do think you need to make it a pleasure not a chore for yourself. I am totally amazed how anyone runs weekly challenges...it must take so much time.I agree with the others..how about making them fortnightly. The other thing perhaps is to have some guest designers occasionally making something??? I also agree with Liz that whatever you do decide it needs to work for you. I love the playground here...it is fun, caring, creative and full of some of the friendliest crafters in blog land. Hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm back with my card today...the 2weeks has proved great to get my snippets used. Yes please to the lovely prize and enjoy the rest of your much deserved holiday dear Di xxx
DeleteAll pick up card are really fantastic. But for me Lesley´s are the most innovative card.
ReplyDeleteMarjeta
Wonderful collection of cards by our playmates, well done to Jane on her worthy win too.
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope you're really careful on your teacher training Miss... not shenanigans to put backs out even more...😉
Love the prize and hope to be back later in the week all being well.
Thanks for sharing so faithfully Miss, enjoy your break from us!!! 😄

{Calligraphy Cards - Shaz in Oz}
Thanks for the shout out Miss - am glad to be able to play along.Lots of lovely picks this week - we have some clever playmates don't we!!
ReplyDeleteHoping you are somewhere nice and am hoping that i will get across to play this week just for fun.
Me and Parsnip are gonna practice making our own 'oringe jooce' whilst you're away - cos being in charge is thirsty work he says.......
I love Janice's card using the pretty shoe and the basket weave embossed background, so elegant and pretty in black and white. Sorry to hear you have jiggered yourback a bit Di but hope you will be relaxing and enjoying a break over the next two weeks. I'm sure we all appreciate what you do to keep the playground going and you must make it work for you! Great picks this week and congratulations to Jane for winning this last week. I am a 'yes please' for a chance to win this lovely prize. x
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card, I loved it as soon as I saw it on Janice's blog last week. I would love a chance to win this gorgeous embossing folder and die.
ReplyDeleteLove the picks this week.
Sue xx
Thank you to both you and to Mr Random for showcasing my card and picking me as the winner. I hope you enjoy your "holiday" - well, OK it's work, but it's a break from the blog and all the troublemakers in the playground.
ReplyDeleteI've often wondered how you manage to do all this on your own, week in week out, I know how much work it is and with your back problems and your other recent health problems, I'm really amazed that you've managed to keep the gates open at all. But if they ever were to clang shut for the last time we'd all be heartbroken. I'm sure we'd all rather play along less often, and perhaps not for prizes unless somebody occasionally donated one, than let that happen.
jane
Lovely picks Di and I'd love a chance of winning the prize, please.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your teacher training and take care of yourself. I agree with other comments that it would be a shame if the playground gates closed. I notice that several challenges have moved to fortnightly instead of weekly which could mean less work for you or maybe you could have a playground prefect again some weeks to give you a break? Just a few thoughts!
Kath x
What a wonderful elegant card Janice has made and which showcases the prize wonderfully. Amazing picks and great inspiration (as always) and two fantastic cards from the new Playmates as well.
ReplyDeleteMiss Di you do an amazing job keeping the Playground up and running week after week with only Parsnip and the occasional Prefect to help out and I can well understand the temptation to lock those gates on occasion.... but like all the other Playmates I'd be so sad if that was to happen.
How about asking for volunteer GDTs to do a snippet make (unrelated to any prize you may offer) or have Mr Random Org pick a number for a GDT each challenge. I'm sure people would still play along if there were no prizes and fortnightly challenges may give you more breathing space....
But whatever you decide you must put yourself and your own health first. Take care and enjoy your 'teachers training' xx
This is absolutely how my first thoughts are coming together Andrea! I've been jotting them down off and on here today. I truly don't want to disappoint people by closing the Playground altogether so you're likely to be stuck with me anyhow. So, as Len would say, 'I'm working on it'. :) Besides which, what would Parsnip do with his time?! Tee, hee. xxx
Deletethanks for spotlighting my card as a newbie to your blog :). Yes I'm a friend of both Loll and Susan, great to have crafting buddies. Love the dramatic black and white of Jancies card it really pops. Playing for fun :)
ReplyDeleteI entered and Yes for the prizes, please! :) They are both fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYes please to the prize! That embossing folder is just great, and the shoe die would be excellent for cards for some of my cousins! :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous inspirations showcased today. Whatever you decide to do with the Playground is okay with me. If you lock the gates, I will be sad, but glad that you did something for you. I am in for the fun this week. Take care. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHi Di
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day you have to make sure you do what is right for you .. .. you are the most important part in all of this.
You certainly do a really fantastic job and I for one do not know how you keep on top of it all.
Enjoy that teacher training .. .. sorry to hear that back is being naughty again .. .. let's hope that heat pad works its magic.
Love Jules xx
Aww I'm sorry to hear that your back is playing up again Di :( Hope the heat pad helps and that you enjoy your training. I'm sure it is a LOT of work keeping the blog going, what about trying it fortnightly or monthly?
ReplyDeletePS just playing for fun this week :)
Really fabulous card to showcase this weeks prize, CAS/LIM at it's best.
ReplyDeleteSome fabulous picks and I especially love Trina and Lesley's cards.
I hope you have a great time at the Teacher's Training.
So very sorry about your back problems rearing their ugly heads again but hope the rest from the Playground will do it good.
Major decision for you regarding the future of the Playground, at the end of the day as some people have said, it hast to be what is best for you. I can not think of anyone who would have soldiered on for so long as you have, well maybe one person (not me as I do not have any back problems).
Kath x
Love the simple look and I think you can never go wrong with black and white. Beautiful embossed background. Every girl loves their shoes, right? :)
ReplyDeleteI will probably not make into this week's playground but just in case ...yes please for the prize/s.
Hugs,
Eemeli
I made it! And it is not even mid-challenge yet :)
DeleteThank you ladies for your lovely comments regarding my card, and of course to Di for showcasing it for the prize this challenge! I'm sure you can imagine how thrilled I was when she asked me! :-)
ReplyDeleteFantastic picks this week as always, what a talented group of crafters there are.
Like others have said Di, maybe it's time for a change to the playground to suit you. You must put in so much time and effort each week, along with your generosity with the prizes.
Know that we will support whatever decision you make, you must look after no.1.
In the meantime, you enjoy your teacher training, rest, relax and enjoy!
Janice x
Janice's card is gorgeous and so much fun! Congrats to Jane on her win and to all of those wonderful showcased picks for the week. Whatever decision you make will have my support Di, as I know you handle a heavy work load with details galore, and major costs for distributing prizes. You need to take care of #1 because no one else can do that for you! Please take good care of your ailing back as you travel - and rest when you can! Thanks for all you do!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Jane on her win. LOVE the showcased cards and calendar. Fab card by Janice too.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the Playground, you do a sterling job in the face of adversity at times and we all REALLY appreciate it. I see lots of suggestions on here for alternatives and I hope you can work out something that suits you. Health comes first and foremost.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Some very cool cards Di, I keep saying it but there are some VERY talented people out there! I'm working on a little snippit which hopefully I'll link up later in the week (takes a few days for the glue to dry!). Take care of your back lovely xx
ReplyDeleteOoooh wow what a gorgeous card from Janice simplicity too! another great showcase Di sending lots of love xx
ReplyDeleteSo many gorgeous cards, Di. Great showcase and picks. I'll be back shortly to link my entry and it's a yes please from me :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Em xxx
Ooops, today's card is a single layer so can't be entered, but at least I'm covered when I do ;) xxx
ReplyDeleteSeems so long since I played along. I'm glad the celebrations went well. I hope the heat pad has worked it's magic and the pain has eased. Look after yourself on your travels and enjoy whatever you're up to x
ReplyDeleteForgot to say, just playing for fun this time x
DeleteSo simple but so very cool, Janices card you are showing!
ReplyDeleteI am playing for the embossingfolder this time and if I should win, probably someone else could be pleased with the shoe die.
Lia xx
Janice's card is lovely with that elegant shoe. Congratulations to Jane on her win and thank you for including me in your spotlighted picks this week and congratulations to the other playmates too.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that you have managed to keep the Playground going for so long with only occational help. It must be an incredible amount of work each week and I'm sure everyone appreciates your generosity.
I would be happy to play along without a prize being offered as I've made so many friends in the Playground. However I think you must really do what is best for you and your health. Enjoy your time away and I do hope your back is soon better again. Hugs, Barbxx
Love all the inspiration and Janices card. Im playing just for fun this week.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for showing my calendar in the picks - you should definitely get some for next year...they're lots of fun (and great quality...my Mum refuses to use anything else now she's experienced the lovely thick paper/card of the Papermill ones!).
ReplyDeleteJanice's card shows off the fab prize perfectly - really elegant!
I'm playing just for fun this week...and to try to do something about my mountain of snippets!
Thanks so much for keeping the snippets playground open...I know I'd still play if it was fortnightly, or monthly...and while it's nice to win something from time to time...I play to try to get my paper stash down to a respectable size!
Helen x
Thank you, Di, for featuring my card. 😊 It was a fun idea.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Trina
xo
Hi Miss Di, a wonderful week last week with the fun of your 5th Anniversary of taking over the Playground, love to play along however often you open the gates, as Helen said above, it helps me to keep using up my scraps box (but I always seem to have more), hope the heat pad has eased your back a little and the 'teachers training' is of interest to you, (sometimes they can be so boring).
ReplyDeleteJust wondering if you have a volunteer guest designer create a snippets make whether if they had same set at home if it could be offered as a prize... we don't have many crafty stores down here and I have been given a couple of duplicate items, (still in the packaging) I could offer as a prize or prizes...
The Playground is one of the nicest and friendliest places in blog world to hang out in...
Wishing you and Len a Happy, safe and Healthy 2017 (and that cheeky little bear too)
Have a great week... Megan
Whoops... playing just for fun this week!
DeleteHi Megan!
DeleteThat's an idea! I do still have the lovely stamps you sent in the toy box here ready to offer as well :)

Love that EF, but 6x6 won't go through my Cuttlebug, so I'm just here for the fun this week.
Hi Sandy
DeleteRe my shoe card, I just wanted to let you know that I used the embossing folder through my Cuttlebug. 6x6 folders go through no problem ;-)

I, and I am sure everyone, sooooo appreciates all you do to give us this awesome challenge but not at the expense of your health, fun and sanity! Not to mention purse! Whatever changes you make will be absolutely fine with us! Take care of yourself. Luv and hugs and oodles of appreciation! xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yes please to the prize...and I am happy to see so many beautiful picks this week, including my blog friend Janis' Graphic 45 design. We share an aversion to cutting into those lovely papers so always try to heap on the praise for taking the big step!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous card you chose to demonstrate the prize! I'm a total shoe girl, so any card with shoes is a good one in my eye. : ) But this one is fabulous and so is the texture on the background. Obviously, I'd like to play for the prize. : )
ReplyDeleteWonderful and elegant card. Love the shoe die. I'd like to play for the prize.
