Bet that's got you going - Part 1 of the Playground. That's because I've been forbidden to sit too long in the craft room by Len, so Part 2 should follow tomorrow with luck. He's out right now (Saturday) so while the cat's away I want to at least kick-start this coming week's Mr Linky and show you the prize. Plus I did manage to make a snippets card and this is wot I did:
I used:
- 6" x 6" square cream card blank
- a snippet of cream card stock, onto which I stamped such a jolly Santa, called 'Noel 1' - made by PaperArtsy, and I used Versafine 'Vintage Sepia'. I rounded off opposite corners on the image. I'm afraid the photo is rubbish BTW as right now I can't easily raise both arms at once :(
- the very dark brown card backing, both behind the DP and the image, is from the snippets folder - then I popped the image on using sticky pads to raise it - the bulky bow has already taken this card into large letter thickness so what the heck
- the patterned paper was cut from a fresh sheet (slap my wrists) from the LOTV 'Krafty Christmas' paper pad
- the ribbons are from the ribbon box, plain brown satin and brown organza with a striped edge, layered and tied together in a bow
- then I just added a snowflake charm (from a packet made/sold by Inky Doodles), originally silver but 'vintaged' using my darkest brown Pro Marker and some black too, tied on in 'Jules style' with brown shiny cord
This coming week's prize is, as so often, connected to today's card:
It's a stamp exactly the same as I used - the detail is lovely plus it does come with an additional sentiment. And there's also a packet of the Inky Doodles charms - I've plonked mine above the winner's sealed packet to give an idea of what there is, snowflakes, stockings, bells, trees, a snowman and a sweet little deer.
The Playground gates will close at 11am UK time
on Saturday 23rd November and the gates will open again at
midnight UK time on the Saturday as usual. Maximum of three entries and please
say 'No thank you' in a comment if you wish to still play but not be the
winner of the prize this week, as shown above. In fact, you might
want to play for only one part of the prize - both items do constitute
one prize but if there's only one thing you'd use please do say in a
comment and I'd just draw again for the second item as well.
Mr Linky is below - do please
let me know if you have any problems linking, I can sort it out for you
quite quickly and am always happy to do so.
So, I 'm sorry this is only half a snippets Playground post - I'll be back (no pun intended!) tomorrow with the results of last week's draw (it takes me time to double check that potential winners haven't already commented 'no thanks', I normally note this down during the week but my brain was elsewhere I suspect!), picks of the week and of course our usual welcome to our new playmates.
See you then I hope!
I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards where the theme is 'monochromatic'
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for November ' Anything goes'

Super monochromatic card here Miss I know there is a challenge asking for this but not got me list to hand at the mo so will let yer know which one it is ASAP. Sounds like your still struggling with your back . Hope it settles down soon. I had the next session at the back clinic and she went to town on both sides of my spine. I could hardly get up off the table by the time she had finished!! What a right pair we make. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteOh Di and Mrs A I really feel for you - this evening I told John I was going to give up all my crafting, what with my back and caring for him ... but I think I'll carry on. And John nags at me too, Di (for my own good, of course - lol!). What a wonderful snippets card - I hope in part 2 that you're going to add it to the ever growing list of entries at CHNC extra for November. Take care xx
ReplyDeleteOh no not another friend with back issues - sending you hugs, give Parsnip a squeeze he's always up for a quickie, naughty boy he is. Rest and don't worry about the gates - you know we won't desert you. Huge hugs to you and Mrs A, what a load of decrepids we are lol!!! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh Di!!! What a wonderful card. This is a real traditional type Santa...vintage looking some would say!
ReplyDeleteHe is the Santa of my youth and the one that instantly comes to mind when I hear the S word.
So sorry you are still suffering. DH is the same...very protective of me...and good about reminding me when I do too much or take too much on...mostly cuz he is the one who has to pick up the slack if I am down for the count! hahahahaha
Can you get in for some deep tissue massage...you will be yowling on the table but usually will feel better next day.
Hope you get some relief as I know how awful back pain is.
Crafty hugs...but gentle hugs!

Your vintage Santa card is so lovely, Di! Is that a wine color? He looks like he might have had a bit of wine, now I say that! I love the little charm, too!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping you might take it easy and not open the Playground this week, but since you didn't listen to this old girl, I'll come on in and play then! I'll do my best to not squeal so maniacally on the swings, promise, so you can get your rest when Mr. Len shoos you off the puter desk.
No thank you on the treats. The only treat I want is the post that says your back is all better! Gentle hugs, Darnell

ReplyDeleteArrghhh bloomin' backs! I'm sitting here all wrapped up in my dressing gown, keeping warm after two hours of leaf raking yesterday. Very sore and moving slowly!! We'll hobble around together shall we? Hope you're up and about properly soon again, at least mine will ease quite quickly and I plan on taking it easy today! Lovely card, very traditional santa. Make sure you rest, we're not bothered about the whole write up thingy, just get well again.
