First, here's my snippets card for this week:
I used:
- 6" x 6" square white card blank
- snippets of card in SU 'Real Red', silver, Centura pearlised white and mirri blue already sprinkled with silver stars
- Memory Box 'Winter Cabin Landscape' die, cut from Centura pearlised white card and tickled with 'Icicle' Stickles
- the blue starry background card was a little bit tricky-woo as I had to make sure there were no stars peeking through the windows or the door :). I glued the cabin landscape down using some Crafter's Pick Incredibly tacky glue - the stuff I was banging on about here - and it worked a treat! Oooer though, that there cabin is leaning a bit to one side, sigh :(
- the snowy foreground was cut in two sections, the top one by using the edge of the MB die to get the correct curve and trimming off the little bit of outline that had been die cut, then they were both run through the Cuttlebug using Cuttlebug's 'Snowflakes' embossing folder before being stuck in place and the ridges also tickled with 'Icicle' Stickles. I've said previously that as am so clumsy, to apply small amounts or narrow lines of Stickles I squeeze a small amount onto a scrap of paper and pick it up with a very fine stiff brush
- Poppystamps 'Santa's Magic Sleigh' die cut from SU 'Real Red' with silver trim cut using the same die then a few small clear sparkly gems added. Tip, keep the other pieces as you will then end up with two sleighs in reversed colours
- the sentiment is by Craftwork cards, popped onto a SU punched 'Large Oval' snippet of 'Real Red' and one teensy clear gem above the letter 'i'
- both the sleigh and the sentiment were added with thin sticky pads
When my in-house critic saw this he immediately said - 'But the red frame at the back doesn't go right round' so I told him it was deliberate to offset the red at the bottom of the card. Snort, he didn't buy that one of course - rightly so as I didn't want to cut into a larger piece of red card - but I like it for a change anyhow - so there Mister Hawk Eyes :)
Right, moving smartly onto this week's picks - and we still didn't reach the elusive 60 entries - but what smashers you all brought!
I truly think these are two of the loveliest baby cards I've ever seen - well done girls!
I could go on and on with loads more picks but it's time to welcome three new Playmates into the Playground!
Gill came to play for the first time with this really elegant Christmas card- love the design and such a pretty blue.
A HUGE welcome to you girls, we do hope you had fun using up your snippets and come back to play again.
OK, so now it's time for the draw for the lovely traditional Santa stamp and packet of charms I showed you last Sunday - and the winner is:
Tamara
Oh well done Tamara! Can you please drop me a little email (di_wray@hotmail.com) just to confirm your address and the stamp will be in the post ASAP.
And as you might guess, this week's prize is connected to my snippets card, it's two dies the same as the ones I used:
I think you'd love these, if you don't already have them. So sweet the way the sleigh looks almost quilted and the runners and the top trim are cut separately so you could (say) make it all white or do as I did for my own offering. And as you might guess, this week's prize is connected to my snippets card, it's two dies the same as the ones I used:
A slight change to our closing time this coming week girls! I'll be missing in action all day next Saturday.
Therefore, the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Sunday 1st December and will open again at midnight UK time on the Sunday as well. Maximum of three entries and please say 'No thank you' in a comment if you wish to still play but not be the winner of the prize this week, as shown above. In fact, you might want to play for only one part of the prize - do say in a comment and I'd just draw again for the second item as well.
Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, I can sort it out for you quite quickly and am always happy to do so.
AND, if you hop back tomorrow I'll have news of our bumper prize which is in addition to the normal weekly draw. There's so much to it I need to write about that separately as I've done my allocated time at the desk for today. All you have to do to be included for a chance to win that is to enter a total of three snippets makes over this week and next (100 and 101) - not three per week, unless you want to - just three spread over the two weeks. You might want to start sorting out your snippets in readiness for what's coming!
PLUS, on Monday (tomorrow) it's the final Rudolph Day of this year, over at the lovely Sarn's blog - so remember that you can combine a Christmas snippets card with the one entry Sarn allows into Rudolph Day too.
Almost forgot in the excitement, I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Allsorts Challenge - 'Bring on the bling'
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for November ' Anything goes'
Have a lovely week, stay warm and cosy and keep those snippets coming :)
Di ( and Parsnip - who is currently rifling through the bumper prize. I'm gonna have to frisk him!)
x
That's artistic that is having the red offset to one side behind the main layering. Elf has gone oop North to create Mayhem. Last I heard was he had unrolled the new loo roll all the way down the stairs and that was just in the house he stayed in overnight before finishing his journey travelling firmly shut away inside a shoe box. hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteLovely Christmas card, Di.
ReplyDeleteTell Len that your red corner is arty!
Gosh those are beautiful dies! And you have created such a pretty scene with them!
You know who is off to watch the game at one of his friends house...all his friends from elementary school will be there!
Best of all I will have the house to myself to get my Rudolf card done and the start of my entries to you. Can't wait!
Love all the highlighted projects today...so many wonderful ones!
Great card, Di! You did a fabulous job with those dies!

Well done on achieving 100! And here's to 100 more. Love your card, the Memory Box scene die is gorgeous and I love the pops of red - really beautiful work. A very impressive line up this week, just love Darnell's snow couple. Hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteHi Di,
ReplyDeleteHow about this then nice and early entry for me today! Can I have a prefect badge please?!
Your card is absolutely fantastic! That blue mirri board looks stunning with the white. I don't think that your cabin is leaning - we are our own worst critic's!
Hope you have a lovely pain free weekend! xx
Hi Di, Oh this is lovely the dies are stunning and l like your red sleigh and gorgeous background with your paper makes the white stand out even more both the dies are stunning l'd like a chance to win these lots of us would l'm sure .....gorgeous array of picks Di and congrats to Tamara and can't forget Mrs A's Elf he's so adorable take care xx
ReplyDeleteThat's one fabulous, chic, crispy Christmas card Di just love all the detail and would certainly be glad of the chance to win those amazing dies this week. Amazing showcase cards too and Mrs A's elf is just too cute! I've entered my card so hopefully in with a shout! Hugs Sarah x
ReplyDeleteThat's a fabulous christmas card and I for one love the way the red border is offset xx
ReplyDeleteDear Di, here I come over to upload yet another card and what do I see - you showcased one of my cards again! Wow I feel truly honored! Thank you so much!!! I love your card - the shiny metallic background is such a great idea! The whole card twinkles!
ReplyDeleteIn case I be part of your lucky draw again - I don't think I would use the sleigh, lovely as it is, so make somebody else happy with it. The house die - would love to have it! :) Hugs, Cornelia
Great showcase of cards again this week!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your beautiful card Di!!! So pretty and a beautiful Christmas scene!
Lynn
Stunningly beautiful Di, I think you need a new in-house critic! The red is a great touch, very artsy. I don't think the cabin is leaning at all, but with a winter scene like that it's most likely in Canada or somewhere really cold, and that means a lot of snow, which is probably what's on the roof making it look like it's at an angle! It'll be straight when it melts, guarantee it!!
ReplyDeleteWow, 100 weeks! It's you who needs a mega prize for sticking with it! Although a lot of playground friends ships have been forged in that time.
It's a bit nippy here too.... -10C last night, wasn't above freezing all day yesterday or today and it'll be 1C (whopee!) tomorrow and snowing! Bleurgh!
Hope the back is on the mend,
Hugs
Brenda
PS. Thanks for picking me again this week and welcome to the new peeps and well done to everyone else.
OMG thanks Di and all ladies here for congrats and comments on my blog.
ReplyDeleteJipi I am so happy!!!
thanks again
hugs from/with sLOVEnija

ReplyDeleteThe dies you used on your card really are gorgeous! I just love that little red sleigh against the navy night sky in your "town!" Such a pretty card Di!
ReplyDeleteAnd all the notables for this week are truly exceptional as well! NJ everyone!
Congratulations on the 100th post, Di! Thank you for all you do to make this a fun and ever-more-popular site for us crafters!!
ReplyDeleteYour card today is over-the-moon gorgeous!! I am really tempted to throw my hat in the ring, but I must refrain, so no thanks. I'm not decent yet with using the NBUS piles of schtuff I have!

Love your wintry scene! And I am playing again this week at the playground (as you might have already seen) but I am saying No Thanks to the beautiful prize, just because I have something similar and don't use that often enough...

Susanne

ReplyDeleteWoohoo, 100 weeks already. I can't believe it. I am sorry I haven't been playing along as much, stuff going on that is occupying my time, all good though. I have already won so many of your prizes I am going to say "no thank you" this time to let others enjoy the wonderful feeling when a playground package with a card from your favourite teacher arrives. Hugs, Amanda x
ReplyDeleteYay Miss Di .. . I have managed it!! The first time I have managed three entries in one week.
ReplyDeleteA memorable week for two reasons. Your century snippet challenge post and my hyper snippet activity. How come I still have so many left?!?!? LOL!!!
Hope your back is improving.
Love Jules xx
Erm, a quick question... Why does my snippets pile never get any smaller despite the fact that I use them?!
ReplyDeleteMorning Di . . . here I am at No. 67 . . . so you've gone past your 60 barrier - CONGRATS.
ReplyDeletePlaying along for the fun of it, so please exclude me from the prizes.

ReplyDeleteGurl! You have a zillion and one entrants. I hope the playground is big enough to accommodate us all. Look at all these great cards and inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteHave tried again to upload my entry - keep getting some sort of warning message. I popped back to see how many entries there were and realised mine was not showing - think I was no. 75 - now I'm 82 but no picture of my card. Maybe that will show up later.
ReplyDeleteAnnie xxx
oh no hope I haven't messed up the system - either it's my eyes or blogger playing up but my card is now on show. How weird - if there are suddenly loads of the same entry from me please delete as I tried over and over again and they just were not showing up on my screen. Eeek what a dipstick.
