We walked into the hotel restaurant for dinner on our first evening (Cape Panwa, Phuket, Thailand) and the resident group, who we knew well from many previous visits, spotted us. I was wearing red - albeit not with long black gloves, snort - and they immediately stood up, grinned a welcoming 'Hello again' across at us and began to play that very song. Heads turned and I think my face also turned ....... the same shade of red as my outfit ...... as we practically danced across to our table :)
This card was made toot sweet the other day for Len's SIL - it had to be quick and easy so I turned to some Kanban images for a rummage.
I used:
- delicious ready embossed and gilded card stock which was a free gift with an order a while back, can't remember where though, just very slightly trimmed and folded to fit into an A5 envelope. That's a trick I've learnt the hard way, always check that the ready made envelope you want to use isn't a smidgen smaller than the card - unless of course you have the time to make an envelope
- topper is by Kanban as is the sentiment
Told you - it was made toot sweet :)
And this is for all of you lovely folks who are celebrating Thanksgiving:

Way to make an entrance!!! It sounds like something right out of a movie :) The card is stunning and oh so elegant! I love the sparkly jewels!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and sparkly!
ReplyDeleteBet she loved it.
You have some Lovely, dark, and rich looking colours on this card. Heads will turn for it as well!
LOL! Tis the night before and I'm stopping in on my way to my bed. Thank you for the best wishes for our holiday! Your lady in red card and story are both wonderful, Di! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteA super card Di and a lovely story to accompany it too xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Di - Kanban toppers have saved me many a time. I did wonder what magical moment you were going to share with us and whether we'd be blushing so glad it was your redness not ours x
ReplyDeleteGreat card Di and love the story.

Great story and gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteLovely story Di, I'm filling up here; I'm getting so much soppier in my old age :)) Super card ... still mourning the loss of Kanban :( Hope your bag is a bit easier today. Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteI love the card, but I love the story more! It's one of my favourite songs too. Kate x
ReplyDeleteHee hee . . . at least your face matched your dress - of course, MOST people match their bags or shoes to their dress . .. but I know you like to be different! LOL!
ReplyDeleteGreat story and I really like the card too.

Tee Hee! Love Sandra's comment!
ReplyDeleteLovely card. That song was played at our Wedding reception. I was wearing a red suit. So it holds a special happy thought for me too!
What do you mean it hasn't been out that long?!!!
Hugs
xx
I can just see you sashaying 'cross the floor in your red dress! I love that song too - so very romantic (and no, I'm not too old to still get romantic occasionally!! LOL). This is a wonderful card, lucky you to have the Kanban supplies. Laughed at the bit about the 'just a bit' too small envelope...have done that trick too many times. Thks for the T'giving wishes...and we're waiting to put Mr. T in the oven. I'm assisting DD, not being responsible. Is nice to have a bit of pay-back!!! (Not really..I wait to be told what she wants done though...I don't 'take over'). I'll clean up. Hugs & I really am missing the playground. Off to have a snoop at some of the lovelies. Hugs
ReplyDeleteToppers and kits like this are fab when we want a quick card. I've always loved the Kanban images and card stock, shame they have bankrupted again.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my favourite songs too and I have a perfect dress for it, although not sure I can get into it any more lol! Take it easy xx
Super card Di and a fab story! Thanks SO much for your help this week with me linking for WOYWW'ing! Much love to you, Debbie #56 xXx
ReplyDeleteLoved your story Di - I like the song too. Your card is very classy. Lynn x
ReplyDeleteHi Di,
ReplyDeletelove your lady in red. There is something so elegant about anything in red especially this time of year.
I do love red clothes, but sadly not much about at the mo.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Had to come and look when I saw the title of your post. One of my favourite songs too - what a lovely (if slightly embarassing) experience in the restaurant. Everyone probably thought you were a celebrity. Love the card even if it is a quick one.

Great comment from Sarn, don't usually read other comments but ths just caught my eye as I scrolled down. She has said it all.
ReplyDeleteFab card, lovely shades of red, the image could be you actually looking all shy after the entrance, you shy, I don't think so!

Oh, to have seen you at the moment when all eyes were on you, Lady in Red! Priceless - and I know you were absolutely gorgeous! the same is true for your card: so pretty, so elegant, so eye-catching! Canadian Thanksgiving is long past, so I'm celebrating 'vicariously' with them...pumpkin pie on the dessert menu tonight!! Your card and story have brightened my day!
