I used:
- 5.5" x 4.25" white card blank - tent opening
- then die cut a further piece of the same white card using MFT's 'Diagonal Strip Sentiment Cover Up' die and popped the diagonal strips out
- trimmed another piece of the same white card to just a smidgen smaller than the diagonal strip die cut, covered one side with Stick It adhesive paper, peeled off the second backing and carefully adhered it to the back of the diagonal stripes die cut
- that meant I had nine diagonal die cut apertures in the white panel, backed with a nice sticky surface for the next step
- sorted the Lindy's Magical Shaker strips into the order I wanted
- then used my Cuttlebug to position the strips, mostly one at a time, into the corresponding positions on the back of the die. Die cut them and then popped them into the correct apertures in the die cut white panel
- a lovely friend recently sent me a gorgeous unbranded flora die and I used it to cut a layer of black velvet card then back it with die cut plain black card for stability - all snippets of course. Such a pretty die!
- die cut 'HB2U' using a Gummiapan die from their fairly recent Mystery Bags offer, again with black velvet card which was then backed with die cut plain black card - all snippets again
- adhered the silhouette die cut and the sentiment across and onto onto the broad white diagonal panel on the card front - using a glue pen
- finally, used very narrow double sided foam tape, with a glue stick, to adhere both the panel onto the front of the card blank
It was a pretty time consuming process but quite rewarding not to have wasted those leftover little strips of Lindy's Magical Shaker samples!
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenge:
- Darnell's NBUS challenge #60 - HERE - some of the 'Magical Shakers', as well as the two dies I used to cut the black velvet card, were having their first outing
Dudley Pupdate: We're all longing for some consistently dry and sunny days here. Meanwhile, Dudley is still snuggling up to us during the night - although I did spot him curled up in his own bed the other night. He seems to like to have a wander around and ring the changes particularly with the night temperatures being quite variable right now. Each day, when I make our bed, I carefully straighten the little fleecy paw printed cover that Dudley has in his bed - it's a good indicator of whether or not he's using the bed as it usually looks as if he's had a wrestling match in there if he has actually slept in it! When he came to us he travelled light with a puppy sized tennis ball, a much loved Monkey toy and his fleece blanket - plus some starter food. All from the breeder to try to help him settle into his new home. It all looked terribly sad looking back. But, he had to go to a new home and we three had chosen one another.
This was within an hour of us arriving back home with the tiny scrap and we, foolishly mistakenly, thought he'd settled in already! Fast forward to during that coming night ............. with Len ending up dozing on a sofa down in the lounge, with Dudley lying on his chest, wrapped in his fleece. so that the heart beat and warmth from Len along with the smell from his doggy Mum 'Dolly' would calm down one inconsolable and almost hysterical Havanese puppy.
Such a little guy, who Len and I now realise, had a predetermined agenda ........... which meant absolutely NO intention of sleeping alone! EVER! Bless his cotton socks!
Remember, the results from Challenge #475 are now published in the Snippets Playground HERE. Hope to see you on the swings for the current challenge too - I fully expect Sarn to be gearing up ready for Easter in a week's time!
Love as always, Dudley and yours truly,
Love this colourful snippets card with the gorgeous silhouette flowers and modern sentiment.
ReplyDeleteLovely to receive happy post treats from a sweet friend.
Of course you, Dudley and I will be busy burying eggs around the Playground ready for Easter xxx
You've made really good use of your left over sprayed strips of card - can't waste the smallest scrap of those pretty colours 😉. It works so well with the pretty floral spray and the quirky sentiment. A lovely Dudley pupdate this week, sweet photo 😊
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Di and great to use up those snippets from a previous card and how cute is Dudley nice to get an update x
ReplyDeleteA great way to use those beautiful snippets. Much too nice to waste! xx
ReplyDeleteHow pretty is that! I enjoy the Dudley pupdate!
ReplyDeleteI love the colourful Magicals snippets which you have used with this strip die and such a wonderful contrast with the added die cut flowers and sentiment in black...a really prettyu card Di. A super cute photo of Dudley when he first joined your family, and love your sweet piece about him being upset and wanting to have company for his night time slumbers which is what he gets when he wants it...ahhh. I made a bit of a 'boo boo' as I was supposed to be adding my latest card to the challenge, and in a bit of a rush to do it before going away for a couple of days I totally forgot to add it and then when I thought I would belatedly do it found that one of the challenges won't allow you to enter more than four others and I already had that number so apologies for that. x
ReplyDeleteHi Pat, Thank you for your lovely comment. You can have Dudley for a weekend visit if you like - it would be an eyeopener BUT, I'm willing to bet he would steal a little piece of your heart. Hope you have a lovely short break and don't fret over not adding a Snippets card - yet. There's still almost a week to go on this challenge! And if not, we'll have a fresh one starting on Easter Sunday!

What a wonderful use of those colorful strips to make your card. It's just so eye-catching and pretty with all the shimmer. Dudley is such a pretty dog and life would be very different had he not chosen to come live with you and Len I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Di and a great background die for using up snippets. Thank for the Dudley update. He may have grown, but is still as adorable as ever.

Wow Di what a stunning card … this takes snippeting to a whole new fabulous level! I love the colours, shine and clever use of the cut out die, with the fab black velvet flowers on top. Superb job!
ReplyDeletePauline xx
Wow, LOVE your colour swatches! Well done using their strips for this lovely card!! Lots of work and careful inlaid, but the result looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYour storytelling about the sad - almost hysterical puppy Dudley melts my heart. It has been a great change in his life, and now that he has a new Mum and Dad obviously he doesn't want sleep alone, it could be dangerous! :)
Lots of cuddle for him - and hugs to you!
Great use of your snippets Di, and a beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteDudley 'had' you from the moment you first set eyes on him, didn't he :)
Blessings
Maxine
He sure did! Len had him cupped in his hands and this solemn and rather wise little face gazed up at him as if to say 'You'll do!' This is a photo I took on the day we met. https://pixiescraftyworkshop.blogspot.com/2023/07/sunday-snippets-and-another-memory-box.html
DeleteToday they've been playing chase around the garden - Dudley is sneaky and runs to hide behind the cabin. Waiting to be found ........... before running off again!
Hugs

Great snippet card, those scraps are beautiful and great way to display them. Enjoyed the Dudley picture!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely couldn't waste those lovely shimmery snippets Di! What a gorgeous card - and the black velvet die cut sentiment is perfect with the rainbow background.
ReplyDeleteDarling Dudley, look at that little tummy! I love that you kept him with you. It always wrings my heart when tiny puppies have to sleep alone when they've just left their mum and everything they've ever known - I just couldn't! Vicky x
PS. Thanks for the 'tiny dustpan and brush' comment - really made me smile x
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comments Vicky! xx
DeleteWhat a wonderful use of the beautiful Magicals snippets! Just love seeing Dudley's baby picture and hearing about when you brought him home! He is such a cutie...and a stinker--haha!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea and great use of your snippets. Dudley certainly knows he's got it made!
