Pixie's Snippets Playground #393 - Prize D

Yay, it's prize D - D for Dudley Dog! Here are two cards I made using the same stamp set and (admittedly) minimal snippets. First of all Dudley's card to Len - and then our card to Dudley, I know - crazy people:

I love the sentiment on the above card- so true.

After taking the photo I added grey shadow to the above card underneath the doggie's tummy area - so he didn't look as if he was levitating! ☺

I used:

- 5.5" x 4.25" white card blanks, side opening

- stamped images and sentiments onto rectangles of white card which I'd die cut using Lil'Inkers 'Stitched Rectangle' die a couple of week ago and found them lurking on my desk

- for the stamping I used Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink, the Misti and stamps from a lovely set of stamps by The Colorado Craft Company called 'Christmas Presents'

- then I coloured the images using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils, deliberately leaving the pencil strokes quite visible - explanation /excuse why is further down

- then just dug around in a Dovecrafts 'Back to Basics Christmas pack' for suitable snippets which seem to go with the colour palette of the real life colouringto add as extra snippety interest to make a couple of really quick cards

- glued patterned paper and images onto the card fronts - finished! Some of the paper doesn't join underneath the image panel, but that's always a good way to use up smallish snippets I find

And of course today's prize is this:

It's a (new to me) Colorado Craft Company set of stamps called 'Christmas Presents'. There's just one of these to be won this time, basically as it's a bit more expensive than the smaller prizes, it now seems to be sold out and I also think it might be of more interest to some people than to others. Prove me wrong though if you wish ☺

The reason I chose this set of stamps is because they're based on images by the artist Anita Jeram, who is a talented children's book author and illustrator - best known for her illustrations for Sam McBratney's 'Guess How Much I Love You' children's book, published in 1994. And of course, one image in particular (the one I used for Dudley's card to Len) reminded me so much of Dudley that I had to buy it! Little hint, she also uses cats in her illustrations - just wait and see! The reason I left the images a little bit 'sketchy' is that Anita doesn't overwork her illustrations .................. and the other reason was that I was frantically colouring late in the afternoon of 23rd December as I needed the Dudley cards for Christmas Day and was also in a bid to be able to step away from the blog for a few days!

At the end of all of the celebrations I'll do a massive draw session for all the prizes using the one Mr Linky - which is on the main snippets post HERE along with details of exactly how to join in - so you do need to have entered one snippets make over on that post during the three weeks that the challenge runs for to be in with a chance :) Maximum of one entry please - to keep things fair for those who may not have time to craft. Mr Linky closes at 11am on Saturday 9th January so you do need to have added a snippets make by then to be eligible for the draw.

Do please take time to read 'the rules' on the post in the above link. No-one has found them confusing, as yet, but they really do cover a lot of ground and are worth reading.

Just leave a comment on this post if you would like the chance to win today's prize.

Len hasn't been too well for a couple of days which I freely admit impacts on how much I need to cope with when he's 'down and out' especially as I struggle with things like even the stairs these days, so it's been a bit of a battle with last minute preparations and also juggling the blog. Why do I do it you may ask? This year more than ever we need things to look forward to and I only hope you look forward to seeing what's going to pop up next on here.

I know that Christmas Day will be very tiring (or will have been by the time you read this) and I'll need a good 24 hours to recover (thankfully we're all set up for 'cold cuts and leftovers' on Boxing Day though - which I like even more than the main event on Christmas Day). So that I can have a more relaxing day on Boxing Day, and as it isn't even written yet, I'm definitely moving the usual Sunday post which will cover picks from Challenge 392 as well as the winner of the Spellbinders 'Chevron Border' die to at least Monday 28th December. I know you'll understand. Just keep watching until I pop up again - thank goodness the challenge runs for three weeks!

Then we'll pick up speed again - still a good few more prizes to come - we're not quite halfway there yet! Stay safe you lovely ladies and keep tuning in!

Love from Parsnip, Dudley and of course me,

  6. Lovely cards for Dudley! They're cute stamps, but please leave me out of the draw for this prize.

I hope Len is feeling better soon. Our Christmas Day was all the things we should have done if we had been away in our campervan (we decided against going away as it's not essential travel) so a lovely quiet one for us!

    Take care

  7. What adorable cards, I'd love to be in the draw please.

Sorry to hear Len isn't well, hope he feels better soon. We managed to have a lovely Christmas, even though it wasn't the one we'd planned. Being able to Zoom with both daughters and their families, even though they were in two different countries, was a real treat - and the kind of thing we'd have never thought of doing before the pandemic.

  10. I do hope it wasn't anything serious and that Len is feeling much better now. You must put yourself first as everyone in the Playground will understand if things don't go to plan.

As for your cards... well they are both fabulous and those stamps are so cute. I will say no thenks to the prize though as I'm certain other people would get more use from them than I would.

Have a nice and relaxing boxing day and enjoy your leftovers.... just popped a turkey pie in the oven here and it'll be accompanied by chips xx

  16. Hi Di, hope you had a good Christmas and that Len is on the mend.
We had a sad one as our wee Ruby died at the beginning of the week. Give Dudley an extra big hug from me, your cards are fabulous as always x

  19. Love love this set of stamps! Of course I would since I'm such a dog person! So yes, please, put me in the draw for this prize. I love the cards you made with it. The first one looks a bit like my Tessa with her pale tan ears and her mostly white body, and the second card makes me think of her personality - tail wagging and yearning for that bone!! Hope you had a great Christmas Day and are now relaxing on Boxing Day.

  22. Whew! Christmas was wonderful but I'm glad that's over for another year! My 3 kids had the best time, and we felt so fortunate to have the whole family well and together. One benefit of this year in shut down is that we spent so much time as a family. With my husband working from home , and the kids distance learning, we learned to take it slower and enjoy things more. Hope Len feel better real soon and that it's not something that's serious. So many colds and flu going around this time of year along with COVID.
Yes please to this adorable stamp set. My two girls have been begging for a dog, but they'll have to settle to the crafted version for now, lol.

Merry Christmas to you Di, and a happy new year to you all!

  23. Two sweet doggie cards and the first really does have the look of Dudley, but I will be a 'no thank you' for this one. Sorry that Len has been a bit under the weather but hope he feels better now, and that you have managed a quieter day today Di, and I'm sure no-one would mind if you even didn't do the picks for Ch. 392 but just did a short note to say who the winner of the prize was, sometimes something has to give. x

  24. Ah, how cute cards!! :) Those doggies are fun and you made two lovely cards with them!! Yes please for the draw. I'm also curious to see the cats from the same illustrator.
So sorry to hear that Len has been unwell at Christmas, hope that now all is going better!!
Take care and keep your free time!

Your cards are sweet and the fact that Dudley received one too is even sweeter. I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve never read the AJ children books, but would still live to be in it to win it.
    Take care and stay healthy.

  33. Oh, yes, please to Prize D! It does have a bunny on it after all!! Your cards are so cute. You have such a zany sense of humor...love it! I learn so much from you, such as authors and books I have never heard of and stamp companies that are out there! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I hope when 2021 rolls around, you and Len will both feel up to snuff. A joyful heart is good medicine!!

  34. I hope that you have had some well deserved R & R, and that Len is feeling more chipper today.

  35. Di, I have no idea how you have managed to get cards done with everything else going on in your household but I'm so glad you got these made and shared. They are both fantastic, and you're right about how much that one little pup looks like like Dudley! I'm NOT going to toss anything in the ring for this prize because if my feline fur babies had any idea there were dog stamps in the house, they'd make life miserable for everyone. lol I know it will go happily to someone who really wants it. :-D

  36. Your cards are so cuuuuuute, Di! That's so fun that you make a card for Dudley! I don't make cards for the kitties, but I make cards *from* the kitties for Brian for nearly every occasion. We don't have kids so it seems like a fun thing to do! Super adorable stamp set and I'm definitely a YES, PLEASE! Still need to make my Snippets card - I haven't forgotten! Happy New Year if I'm not back here before then! Let's hope 2021 has something better than 2020!

  37. Oh no, it's hard enough feeling sick, but the holiday time is the worst. There's always so much to do, and the weather is usually bad as well. Hope you both are completely well before 2021 hits, because we want to start out on a positive note, right?

Yes please to this adorable stamp set. The one of the dog on his tummy, staring at the stack of presents made me chuckle.

  38. I hope Len is feeling much better by the time you read this. That stamp was meant for you! The little dog on the boxes looks just like Dudley. Yes, please to the prize. Take care!

  41. I'm so sorry to hear that Len has been ill Di and hope he's feeling better now. Of course it has an impact on how much you can do too so I do hope you didn't overdo it.
I have been aware of the popularity of these Anita Jeram illustrations for a while but somehow they don't do it for me (I know, as a dog walker too!!) so I will say no to the draw for prize D. Love the gentle way you coloured them though and they look lovely against the paper you chose. Vicky xx

  43. Adorable cards, Di!! Your sweet Dudley did a wonderful job on his card to Len! lol... And I know Dudley loved your card to him, too. So much fun.
This stamp set is perfect for a dog lover, so I will play just for fun on this prize and leave more chances for somebody without cats that might stage a mutiny if a dog stamp set made its way into the house! Ha.
Sending well wishes to Len. Hope he is feeling better by now. Take care of yourself, too, my friend!
