Wow, that week just flew past! The biggest event was taking Dudley for his full grooming session. As usual - yup, I had to slide him along the floor of the store when we got there. Coming out HE almost had me sliding along the floor! He looks absolutely gorgeous and is so soft and white. As always, he was a bit unsettled by the whole experience but the girls say he did behave himself. Basically, he just isn't keen on being messed around with - despite me grooming him every evening. He still sits up like a little hare ready for a boxing match as soon as I begin the session!
As things have been all a bit upside down, I haven't managed to make a new snippets card so I'm showing you one from a few years ago - which also includes part of this fortnight's prize:
I used:- 6" x 6" square white card blank
- a snippet of snowflake backing paper from the LOTV 'Frosty Christmas' paper pad
- the hillsides were die cut using a plain curved die from the Spellbinders 'A2 Curved Borders One' set, with Stickles 'Crystal Ice' along the edge
- the trees were die cut using a Marianne die (LR0136), snippets of white card covered with self-adhesive film which was peeled off after die cutting and sprinkled with Cosmic Shimmer 'Diamond Sprinkles'
- snippets of red and white card (plus a little scrap of white and red patterned paper for the long johns!) and the 'Santa's Laundry' die by Cheery Lynn, Then I attached the washing line to each of the trees and topped them with a Josy Rose silver star nail head
- the sentiment was die cut twice and layered, using a Crafts-Too 'Merry Christmas die'
This card actually featured a few prizes back in 2014. As I said, this time only one item from the card is a prize as I did begin to collect stuff for the Grand Christmas Draw, which I have definitely decided against - for this year at least. Now seems a good time to offer my first Christmas themed prize as many people are beginning to make their Christmas cards - now that we're into Autumn.
And, here are the prizes for this fortnight:
First of all, as I used on my card, it's a Cheery Lynn die called 'Santa's Laundry'. I was reminded that I had the die in the Toybox when I spotted a great Halloween card, made by Connie using Cheery Lynn's Witches Laundry die HERE.
And as Halloween isn't too far off, there's this as well:
Tara, of Seven Hills Crafts, kindly enclosed something extra for the Toybox with a recent order. It's a 6" x 6" paper pad by My Mind's Eye called 'Something Wicked'. What's extra nice is that the papers are double sided, and many have glittered accents as well.
I love Seven Hills Crafts, they're based in the UK and are one of the few stockists of most American craft brands. And Tara has been a blogging friend almost right from when this blog first began - a while before she and Rick her husband took over the business in January 2014.
I won't be splitting the prize - if you win and don't want one of the items I will still send you both, then do feel free to give it to a friend, once you receive it.
As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 17th October. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.
It's a maximum of ONE entry, please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.
Remember the football sized hedgehog? He's only gone and only fallen asleep twice more on top of a feeding dish! So, we've had to abandon the covers for now as he really shouldn't be thinking about hibernating out in the open - even if he is underneath an upturned shelter. Thankfully, he's got the message now and seems to have retreated into the undergrowth and a nice leafy nest.
Dudley is such a little sweetie, he's curious of course but always leaves animals and birds well alone.
I wonder if it's the smells in the place where Dudley goes? I know one time I took a neighbors very well behaved dog to the vet. He was doing great and they had told me to make sure I held onto his leash which I did thank the Lord. As soon as I opened the door that dog turned into a lunatic and just about jerked my arm out of the socket. I think it was the smell that hit him and he associated bad memories with the smell. We might not think they're bad but we aren't the ones getting a shot or a scrubbing or a clipping. You never know.
ReplyDeleteYup, I'm into making Christmas cards. Yes, I'd love the prize this time. I do 3 Halloween cards for the grands and the Santa's clothes is adorable.
ReplyDeleteWow - that is such a fun card, loving the long johns!! Can my name please be included in the draw - thanks. Pleased to hear Dudley survived his grooming session without too much trauma - can just picture him dragging you off the premises smartish 🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteOoh what a cutie Di l love your image your card is fabulous love the layout and the Christmas trees just gorgeous nice snowflake background too ...ohh poor Dudley who would of thought he'd not like his grooming makes me laugh of loud sliding across the floor and then coming out almost you sliding too! he's a challenge Di and still a baby they put you through the test lol and poor hedgehog you will need to keep a close eye on him like you say they should be hibernating ...only playing for fun take care stay safe enjoy your day x
ReplyDeleteI wish want being a mosquito on the ceiling to see you and Dudley sliding together along the Grooming Store floor!! LOL :D You are very lucky that Dudley is only a little doggie... think about your health if he was a Bobtail!! LOL :D
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your card!! The fun Santa's Laundry is so striking and such perfect scene you have created! Hope to have time to play!
Hugs to you and cuddle to the poor groomed Dudley! Parsnip is so lucky as he haven't to being groomed! :D A cuddle also to him :)
I'm jealous of your hedgehog adventures!!! I love that Santa's laundry die! So unique and fun! I'll definitely be playing this week!
ReplyDeletePoor Dudley - grooming is definitely not his thing is it! He probably dragged you off the premises in case you were thinking of getting groomed too - "Zero out of ten Mum, do not recommend!"
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love your card which looks as fresh as the day it was made! Santas long johns are hilarious!! Love the snowy backing paper too.
I'm going to hold off from the draw this time and play just for fun :)
Vicky xx
Great card Di, even if it is an old one it is well worth a revisit. I am sorry to say it is a while since I have entered your challenge. I really don't know why, sometimes things just pass me by! Glad you are OK if very busy. Yes please for the prize draw xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun card Di. I still have a little paper left from that beautiful LOTV paper pad, I wish I'd bought a second pad at the time. I'll be a Yes Please for my name to go in the hat for the prize. xx
ReplyDeleteThink it is time we got a dog, can't recall having a big event at all this week. My youngest Grandson is sick to have a dog , but Mummy says NO. Funny as she was the one who nattered for one when she was little, and Chris gave in.. Queenie - a small whippet.
ReplyDeleteLovely Christmas snippets card, great papers and some super dies.
Kath x
Very pretty card Di - wants me to grab out some DP myself - I havent unpacked my stamps yet in my craft room - have been using dies only so far - oh the possibilities.... Cheers Maurs xxx
ReplyDeleteGoodness another 2 weeks passed in a flash!. I do enjoy your tails of Dudley and have a picture in my head of a soft fluffy white little dog draging you by the lead on your bum out of the shop before you even get a chance to pay hahaha. Really need to try to draw that it would be a terrific stamp wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteChristmas makes it easy for me to decline the opportunity to win in our family we are all allergic to that shopping festival. x
Hi Di your card is gorgeous. It is a yes please for the prize from me. I love hearing about Dudley. Our daughter and son-in-law are in the process of getting a dog. Take care. Hugs Jackie
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet throwback to an older card, I just love this one! So happy Dudley's grooming session went well even if he cleaned the floors with his sliding :) The mental picture of that is sad but cute at the same time. It's a yes please for me on the prize this week, and thanks for another great snippets challenge!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Di! Hopefully I will be entering this time, but it will just be for fun if I do xoxo
ReplyDeleteWow, this card is so wonderful and fun!!! I just love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI have my fingers crossed for the prize.
Hugs, Valerija
Santa's Laundry looks great fun Di, and especially love his starry longjohns, and some lovely papers too and not just for Halloween. If I get a card in I will be playing just for fun this time. I'm glad you managed Dudley's grooming session with not too much problem apart from some resistance going in and much insistent rushing out..lol, but I'm sure he looks so handsome now that it is all worthwhile. Take care. x
ReplyDeleteYour card is adorable. Yes please include me for the prize. I love Cheery Lynn and MME and those Halloween papers are awesome. Your tales of Dudley and hedgehogs are very entertaining. Take care. Hugz from Norway.
ReplyDeleteYES PLEASE for this fun prize package! I love the Santa's laundry line die, and the paper pad will be great to use next Halloween. My youngest granddaughter was born on Halloween so we always celebrate two holidays on Oct 31.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Dudley is able to be groomed regularly now, although he probably wishes otherwise. Our Toby never minded when we took him for grooming, but if he caught sight of us while he was on the grooming table...watch out!
Love hearing about the backyard hedgehogs. They're so lucky to have you and Len keeping an eye on them and making sure they are safe.
Just playing for fun this week Di, but I'm off to take a look at Seven Hills Crafts as there are so many American goodies i wish I could get here!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Dudley made it through another fur-cut! Our pup always hated them, too. But we all liked the results. Your card is a delight no matter if it is from years past. And I love the paper pack colors and patterns. So... yes please to the prizes. And thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh, I definitely need to be in the running for this prize, Di! It would be such a great addition to my Witch's Clothes Line die which I used for last snippets challenge. :-D
ReplyDeletePoor little Dudley. I'm sure he doesn't mind being clean and beautiful once it's over and done. Give him an extra hug or two from me.
Love that cute die. Yes, please put me in the draw.
ReplyDeleteFunny how different animals feel about grooming. My last cat has longish fur, and he adored being combed and brushed, which I did every evening. I remember being upstairs working on the computer one evening and hearing him yowling downstairs. I went to check on him, and it turns out it was just cat for "I had an 8 p.m. grooming appointment. Where's the groomer?"
Yes Please to this prize. I love the cute Santa's laundry line die so much.
ReplyDeleteThe description of Dudley needing to be pulled along for his grooming appointment, and then dragging you out afterwards made me giggle. I'll bet he's completely adorable even as he's being naughty!!
Your card is fab and so is your prize .. I use DP so seldom that I'm going to say JUST PLAYING FOR FUN THIS TIME AROUND
ReplyDeleteSome dogs love grooming and others do not ... we took our beardie to be groomed once (during the summer) .... the pared down dog we got back appeared to be so embarrassed by her "nakedness" she would NOT go for a walk for several weeks, once the fur had started to grow again ..... smarter than the average bear, Boo Boo!
Happy Wednesday
Kathyk
Really sweet card, Di! Yes please to the prize :) x
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a fab creation! How you cut the white pieces on the clothes by hand or does the die cut separate pieces for example on the Santa's coat? If you have done it by hand I must say you have done a splendid job -- they sure look like they are cut with the die.
ReplyDeleteYES please for the prizes, you are definitely spoiling us with two items this time. Will be back shortly with my card (I am currently finishing the blog post).
Hugs from rainy Finland,
Eemeli
A lovely cute card Di. I'll be in the playground soon, but am only playing for fun this time.
ReplyDeleteKath x
What a darling card, Di! Love all the sparkle and this die cut is really adorable. I'd love to play for the prize, thank you!!
ReplyDeleteOh I bet Dudley looks fabulous! Fritz is fine with the big goats we walk by, but the squirrels are driving him crazy & he'd sure love to chase them! Your card is so cute & what a great prize! Leave me out of the drawing please.
ReplyDeleteSant's clothesline is adorable. Yes on prize. I am out of Halloween paper.
ReplyDeleteHi Di So pleased I have found your friendly blog. I'd love to play for a prize please. Take care! Thanks again. Helen :)
ReplyDeleteFab card - love Santa's patterned long johns!
ReplyDeleteHelen x
PS - I'm a 'yes please' for the prize draw
Such a sweet card!! Yes please to the fun prize 😊 I know when I worked at a pet store/grooming studio, the pups that came in often acted differently than was their norm. With their keen senses, and just not fully understanding the environment, I think they were a bit overloaded!! Add to the fact that they were getting clipped and fussed over by relative strangers, it was often a bit much for them to be calm! Good for Dudley to be able to stick it out and get himself all done up!!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Susan
Mm seems Dudley and grooming not a good mix. He's got attitude! No thanks to prize.
ReplyDeleteIm tired but not sleeping. Going back to bed now hopefully to sleep.
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless and keep you and all whom you love safe and well.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz. X

ReplyDeleteYes for the prize.
Love your card so worth another look, its such fun, I would love to be in with a chance to win the die.
ReplyDeletePoor Dudley at least it is done and dusted again for a little while. We have fun when my grandson visits as he now brings a 6 mth old springer with him Merlin, Stanley and him get on great and it's lots fun, even if a bit tiring by the end of the day lol
Hello Diane...I hope this finds you doing well. I always LOVE to play along when I can. I enjoy the inspiration, your stories, fellowship and fun...and of course, using up my scraps. I'd love to win the amazing prizes. Take care and keep on crafting!
