Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #371 - results

And it's March already! With rain, rain and yet more rain! It's actually sunny as I'm typing this on Saturday afternoon - but it's gonna be short lived according to the weather radar map.

Let's move straight into this fortnight's picks:
I totally adore this gorgeous bird house, made by our lovely Jules. What a delight it is, a 'Jules special' - and a super way to use up lots of pretty snippets too! See if you can spot the heart :)

Here's a really delightful Birthday baby card, made by Liz. The grey and yellow go together so beautifully and the dear little elephant die that Liz used, with the flower cut-out on his his 'rear end' is so cute!

And we're back to birds with this adorable card, brought to share with us by Vicky. I especially love the softness of the colours and design  - as well as having a peep at some of Vicky's snippets hoard!

So, that's my picks and I do hope they've given you some inspiration for ways in which you can use up some of your own snippets. I could have added more picks quite easily, but we're waiting for a Sainsbury's delivery anytime now so I'd better finish off!

We had 51 entries and no new Playmates this time.

Now for the prize draw, which is for a Lil'inkers die called 'Boxed Up Thanks'. And the winner is:

Shaz in Oz

Well done dear and very loyal Shaz! First win for a while I think - over a year if I'm right. I know I already have your address but can you please send it to remind me to package and post your prize. Please send me your address, with your full name at the top as well so I can copy and paste or just write straight from the email onto the envelope - for speed and ease. It's also confirmation that you still would like the prize of course and I'll post your prize once I hear from you. Please put Playground Winner or similar in the subject line of your email in case it drops into my junk mail. Email address is on RH sidebar as always.

And, here's another shout out to Emma who won the Clearly Besotted 'Simply Succulent' set of stamps and dies in Challenge #370. Can you please claim your prize and send me your address. I know that a few of you follow Emma - if any of you are in touch with her can you please give her a little nudge - her blog has been quiet for a couple of weeks or more now so I do hope she's OK. It might be internet issues as I do know she'd been having problems recently.

Remember folks, there's still almost another week to run on Challenge #372 - you can find it HERE. The prize is a set of Clearly Besotted 'Chirpy Chicks' stamps with matching dies. Plus, a little Happy Easter stamp by 'Stamping All Day'.

On the Dudley front, he's been to see his favourite vet again, sigh. Rash like areas, some looking very angry and sore, from his grooming session appeared - most likely from teeny little nicks (one is on the scar from his operation which really proves the point) and very probably from the use of improperly cleaned clippers. Also, as we thought, his nails hadn't been trimmed (well, there had been an attempt to do two of them, probably abandoned when we unexpectedly arrived back to find him trussed up and howling) so the vet did those for him at the same time. I do so wish we had legislation in this country to prevent any Tom, Dick or Harry from setting themselves up as a groomer with no controls in place. That's our vet's opinion as well, also totally horrified at Dudley's experience needless to say.

I managed to take a very blurred photo of him just before I hoofed it into the kitchen to begin our evening meal on Saturday. I had 'Stinky Monkey the 4th' in one hand and the camera in the other and of course Dudley wouldn't keep still. He's all head in this shot and moving about, but it's ages since I posted one of him on here - the serious look is him working out how to get at his latest Stinky Monkey toy! :

Love from Parsnip our sweet little bear mascot, a happy wave from Dudley (the gel is already beginning to clear the patches up thank goodness, two small ones on an ear have totally gone in just two days) - and of course hugs as always from me,

  1. It does just make you want to take matters into your own hands! Poor Dudley, but I'm so glad the med is working. The picks are really wonderful! Stay dry, Ms Di!

  2. Happy March Di, seems like an age ago since I last visited or was able to leave a comment. So sorry to read of poor Dudley's experience there really should be a way to stop anyone just setting up shop. My Mothers Westie had a bad experience at a (So Called) Pooch Parlour many moons ago it's awful to hear that these things can still go on. I hope he recovers asap.
Beautiful created cards, so nice to see the lovely Shaz in the winning seat, she makes such marvellous creations.
    Happy Sunday Hugs Tracey xx

  3. Lovely picks, and congrats to the winner. I share your frustration about the behaviour of your groomer. I simply cannot understand how someone who is working with animals can be so insensitive as to the animals' wellbeing. it must be a relieve that the gel is working winders.

  4. Great picks as always - with an animal theme too. I'm amazed there is no 'controlling body' for dog groomers in this day and age but pleased to hear that Dudley is recovering.

  13. Great spotlighted snippet makes this week once again and congrats to Shaz in Oz on her win! Poor Dudley, I'd be having a fit over what happened to him at the groomers, but I'm sure he's well on the way to erasing that horrible experience from his memory. He's got you and the Mr to focus on now, and hopefully he'll soon be completely healed - physically and emotionally! He's such a sweet little dog :)

  14. Congratulations to Shaz for the win, and to all the top picks. Oh my goodness, I love that birdhouse design, and the clever piecing of that stitched frame by Vicky is such a great way to use snippets. I'll have to remember that. Thank you for the peek at Dudley, wriggly as he is. His adorable face always makes me happy..but hearing about the damage that groomer left behind would have me seeing red. So glad he's healing now, and I am hoping that you are able to leave negative feedback for that groomer if she's on social media. If she wants to continue in business, she'll have to change her approach or she will be gone in no time.

  16. So pleased that my little bird card made your show and tell picks Miss Di! Love Jules's little bird house and that adorable little elephant card from Liz.
It's so awful when someone doesn't treat your dog with the care you expect of a professional and sometimes hard to work out the good from the bad - they'll all talk the talk, but do they walk the walk?! Is it possible for you or Len to groom Dudley yourselves?
    Sending hugs,
    Vicky xx

  17. Hi Miss Di - thank you for spotlighting my little birdhouse card. It was great fun to make.

If anyone would like a copy of Mr Heart’s template so they can make one then just drop me an email and I will “wing” it over.

Well done to Shaz on her win and to the other spotlighted playmates.

    Love Jules xx

  20. Such wonderful picks Di, I had fallen in love with Jule's card when I first saw it on her blog. And Liz's card was so pretty, loved that elephant die! Vickie's card is just stunning, her bird all but looks real, I so love the soft colors she used. Yay for Sharon on the win!!! She is such a sweetheart and yes, always a loyal player for sure! Oh poor Dudley, still having issues and probably nightmares from that horrid place! I'm so happy the gel is working and healing him up. I just can't believe someone treated him in that manner. They should be hung up by their toes! Sending hugs to Parsnips, Dudley and of course, you Di! Brenda

  21. Excellent choices, Di, and congratulations to those artists in the spotlight, so well-deserved! I'm just heartbroken to hear that Dudley is still trying to recover from that awful so-called groomer. I hope someone starts the ball rolling for legislation. I may have missed it on here where you said you did a bad detailed review of the person on Yelp or whatever review sites are popular in the area. It's the best way to get the word out and protect some other innocent dog from trauma and injury. I could weep, but I'm glad to hear the little sweetheart is recovering! Hugs, Darnell

  22. Hello Di, after all the storms it's such a relief to glimpse the sun, and get out in it too. Love your picks - each one is inspiring. Congratulations to Shaz on her win. I've been following what's been happening. So glad to hear Dudley is on the mend - poor wee guy. What a horrible experience for you all. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

  24. Poor sweet Dudley...I'm so glad that things are improving though Di. Well done to all , picks and to Sahz. Sorry I'm still a bit of a headless chicken at the mo as Bear has been poorly with a leg injury and has only just gone home, still needs more recovery time but fingers crossed. I'm also prepping away for B'ham which is only 2 weeks away now...eeek! Hugs xxx
