Pixie's Snippets Playground - #368 - Prize G

Me again - with another snippets card:
I used:

- 5.75" x 5.75" square white card blank, side opening

- then, using the Misti, I first stamped the reindeer using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and Impression Obsession's 'Reindeer - F10007' stamp

- as the stamp is red rubber backed with cling mount (still think red rubber is so good for first time crisp images) I'd had to remove the foam inset from the Misti so I then popped it back in for the next stamp I used, which is a clear one from the Do-crafts Papermania 'Traditional Sentiments' stamp set - again with Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink

- the stamping looked very dark on the sentiment, but comfort and time weren't on my side so I toned it down a bit using clear Wink of Stella

- then coloured the reindeer using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils plus a Signo sparkly silver pen for the antlers, stars and outlines

- final touch was to run an embossing tool round each side using my Scor-Pal

A totally rubbish photo, which doesn't show up the colouring at all well, but I was too tired to start fiddling around with different lighting - even some blending fluid or using Pro markers would probably have been an idea. But at least you can see the sort of thing I had in mind! Given more time and patience I'll certainly revisit this lovely reindeer stamp, and perhaps heat emboss the sentiment in silver. It would look good with a strong Scandinavian theme as well - which is what I had in mind when I bought the reindeer stamp and, for me, a silver frame perhaps.

But, I was struggling with this dratted shoulder and some sweet person actually said in a comment, 'don't worry if you can't make the samples' and I did so appreciate that recognition as it hadn't crossed my mind as a 'Last Stand Saloon' solution - and that actually might happen with one or two of my future prize posts. We shall see though, I'm not a quitter :) Ha, I moved a linen basket of folded washing ready to iron today and that told me off a bit! Note, I only moved it folks!

And so, today's prize is (sorry, I'd forgotten to add this photo when I originally scheduled the post):
An Impression Obsession's 'Reindeer - F10007' stamp plus a Do-crafts Papermania 'Traditional Sentiments' stamp set.

At the end of all of the celebrations I'll do a massive draw session for all the prizes using the one Mr Linky - which is on the main snippets post HERE along with details of exactly how to join in - so you do need to have entered one snippets make over on that post during this fortnight to be in with a chance :) Maximum of one entry please - to keep things fair for those who may not have time to craft. Mr Linky closes at 11am on Saturday 4th January so you do need to have added a snippets make by then to be eligible for the draw.

Just leave a comment on this post if you would like the chance to win today's prize.
And can I also remind you please that you must use one or more snippets on your entry for the challenge.

I've just spent a good while going through your entries, as well as all of of your comments so far - jotting down potential 'picks' and also reading every single word of your lovely comments. I love to read your anecdotes and snippets of news. Remember girls, it's YOU who make this Playground happen - if it's really in your heart then you know just what I mean.

I've been a bit saddened that a few 'wild card' entries don't even make the effort to use a single snippet, lovely as they might be - I will exclude those during the draw. Our one rule IS to use at least one snippet ......... and mention it in your post so it's clearly a snippet you've used please.

Finally - did you know that Havanese dogs dance on their hind legs for treats? Dudley is utterly enchanting when he does it - he even does a good impression of a Rudolf Nureyev pirouette. Bichons do, so why not their Cuban cousins? If he starts to wear high heeled Cuban boots for the performance we'll be seriously worried! He could be on the way I fear - all of Christmas, during the day but not at night, he's trotted quite happily around wearing a Christmas bandana that Santa left for him! With a rather 'camp' flourish!

Love from Parsnip, Dudley and of course me,

  1. Oh no Di, I hope your setback is just a minor one but now you know to avoid ALL types of household chores, including moving a laundry basket, haha! I second the suggestion that you not worry about making samples for every single giveaway prize because aggravating your shoulder is just not worth it. If you link to the products in your post, we can go over and see what it's all about and imagine how itwould look in a project. After all, if we crafters can't use our imagination in coming up with our own ideas then we have no business buying or winning craft goodies anyway, right? Yes, I am a very stern taskmaster when it comes to keeping that right-brain process going.
I will pass on this prize pack as I have quite a few reindeer and sentiment stamps already that have no even been inked yet (head hanging in shame).
Also, added a sentence or two to my snippets card description to make it clear that I used all snippets in the finished product. Thanks for the reminder to include that in our descriptions for those new to the challenge.
Thank you again for all the generous giveaways, and give that shoulder the rest that it deserves. I would make some of the samples for you if I could but probably don't have the supplies that you're using..sigh.

  2. Don't worry for photos and samples, take care of your shoulder. Carrying a laundry basket is a clear sign that it is going better, but you will ironing it for sure before or after... and will be very tiring and time consuming :D
Your CAS with that cute and fun reindeer is so lovely, yes please for the draw. I entered just now my snippet work.
Hope to see a little video of the "treat dance" of Dudley, one day :)
    Hugs

  3. Haha laughed at that last thought dear Di. Wonderfully clever pup your Dudley but think shoes might just be beyond him!! 😁
Now don't worry about samples, photos or ironing.
A wounded wing needs rest... or it will demand it most vociferously and am sure you don't want that!
No thanks to prize as have one neglected one similar!
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless you dear Di, esp healing prayers.
    Hugs, Shaz in Oz.x

  4. You are stubborn--haha! Love seeing your samples, but you have to take care of yourself, Di. We don't have to have the sample or you can just delay things a bit. We'll all still be here! Big hugs & positive thoughts for healing! Please leave me out of the drawing.

  5. Glad to hear you only moved the ironing, and did not 'do' it!! And I agree, you really don't need a sample for every prize.
Dudley sounds quite the character... my cat sits on his scratching post for his treat. I taught him to use the post by giving him treats, and he still goes there to get them, but it was his initiative to sit on it, and take the treats from my hand!
Please 'count me in' for the prize. I have just uploaded my card
    Blessings

  6. I’m glad I’m not the only one struggling to get decent photos of my cards Di, due to the awful dark, damp days we’re having. Love your card today and would very much like to be entered into this draw please.
Thank you for the reminder that we should mention in our blog post that we’ve used snippets in our make. I’m not sure I have ever done that in all this time, but will certainly do so now!
As others have said, you must take care of number one, so if you cannot make a sample for the prize on offer, please relax and give your shoulder a rest.
    Take care

  7. Haha we will be waiting for the bandana photo now, you tease lol, but we can all imagine him dancing with his paws in the air.
Housework is dangerous, so leave it! So easy to try doing stuff, but do take care, and I totally agree we don't need samples, you've got enough to do! I normally mention snippets, but will go and check I did it this time, meantime it's a yes please and be kind to yourself xxx

  8. I agree with others that you don't always need to make a sample card - it's more important that you look after yourself. Moving the laundry basket was a good reminder not to overdo things.

It sounds like Dudley has been keeping you entertained. 😀 I'm visualising him now pirouetting around wearing a bandana - although I'm sure he'd look even cuter wearing red boots! LOL!

Your CAS card is lovely, Di, but I'll pass on Prize G as a I've already got a couple of similar stamps. xx

  9. A lovely reindeer card Di and I would love a chance to win, please.

Look after your shoulder and be careful - it's too easy to think that it's healing and use it too much. Dudley sounds adorable in his bandana!

  10. Health is more important Di so try and rest up lovely card and reindeer Die not for me just commenting please take some rest sending lots of love xx

  11. That you carrying out this amazing festive prize draw is extraordinary Di and we don't want you hurting yourself in the process, so I'm another one suggesting that samples for every prize is not necessary. Do take care of that shoulder - it could get worse and I'm sure you'd rather it got better instead!

Had to laugh about Dudley's antics - I reckon he's been watching Strictly!

Totally agree about the snippets. It's always great to see the inspiring ways other crafters are using theirs too.

I'm going to pass on today's prize as I seem to have reindeer and noels!

    Sending get well wishes!
    Vicky xx

  12. I don't think we realise until something is wrong just now much we use certain parts of our body so you must rest your shoulder as much as possible. I am playing (when I get round to it) just for fun on this one Di as I have a reindeer stamp and die which hasn't even been used yet! Would love to see Dudley in his bandana xx

  13. OK, now you've got me curious to see Dudley dancing for his treat wearing his new "duds" (pun intended) I bet that's just adorable! You need to rest that shoulder before it turns into something serious, so let the chores and card making go until you feel up to it. All of your readers understand! I may go back and add some wording to my snippets post to indicate I used snippets. I think I use snippets on nearly every card I make these days, but I will make that clear. I tend to assume things that should really be made clear - thanks for that reminder. I will pass on today's prize because I have lots of reindeer images now that I don't use as much as I should :) Take care of yourself in the meantime and rest that shoulder!

  14. OUCH! - OUCH!- OUCH - I know you are looking forward to that shoulder mending quickly - seems like a fall takes a long time to mend due to the tears - but surely it will come in due time - IRONING??? Oh my goodness - I remember that task - LOL - OKAY I did iron my jean this past week but I have to admit my ironing days are no longer schedule but flying by the seat of my pants so to say - if I need something ironed I get out the ironing board and iron that day like 15 minutes before I get dressed - hehe - and Dudley and dancing- oh I could see him in a pair of tiny boots fitting his sweet tiny paws - reminds me of a digital I own by Beccy's Place-- I have a cute and I do mean cute bird digital by Beccy that has boots on his feet and I love that image - used it a lot this year--- so possibly a photo shoot only of Dudley and the boots -

A marvelous prize is offered here - I am passing due to my supply of reindeer but it is a sweet rubber stamp image-- and the sentiments too boot - have a blessed day and thanks for the challenge

PS I was at a scare and when and re-checked my posting on my Snowman as I was sure I mentioned the snippets - Yep I did --- Yeah! Thanks for keeping us on track however Di -- blessings

  15. Please be careful with your shoulder, Di. I know that sickening shoulder/neck pain only too well. It's certainly not conducive to either card-making or ironing!!
One day when I am feeling brave I will show you a photo of snippet mountain - it's an independent, self-governing state. I think that's one of the main reasons I ended up with the gold-embossed bathroom lino...
Thank you, but passing on reindeer today, as like others here I seem to have accumulated a herd of them! Hope you feel better soon, hugs xxx

  16. Oh, dear....I am definitely feeling your pain, Di. Shoulders can take a maddeningly long time to heal sometimes. I took bone, muscle, cartilage supplements for months after my injury. I can't really say for certain that they helped...lol...but who knows what my shoulder would be like right now if I hadn't! No housework chores! That's Dr. Janis' Rx. Ha.

Adorable reindeer card! I like how you used the silver pen to accent the outlines...so shiny and pretty. Yes, please, to the lovely prize!! And I agree with all the others....do not feel pressured to make samples for all your prizes. You are doing an amazing job and we love seeing your cards, but take care of yourself!!

And when you can, we DO want to see a photo of Dudley in his scarf...and maybe even Cuban boots!! lol...

  18. Think I could cope with Dudders in high heeled cuban boots - but I may be a bit concerned if Len decides to do likewise.......

Offering again - remember I am here if you need it! Know won't be able to demonstrate the snippets prize but some'at is better than nowt if you need to.(Although my right shoulder appears to have come out in sympathy - no idea why - just very achy and stiff???)
No thanks to this one matey - have 4 reindeer stamps that have never seen ink so really don't think I will use it even if I was lucky - altho you've made a lovely job (again) with your card!
    See you tomorrow!(LOL) xx

  19. Ouch Miss Di, you really do need to take it steady until your shoulder is properly mended..... and I agree with the others regarding the making of samples. It's so generous of you to provide all these amazing prizes in the first place that no-one expects you to put so much pressure on yourself especially when you're in pain. Having said that you have created such a lovely CAS reindeer card but I it's a 'no thanks' again from me.
Would love to see a photo of Dudley wearing his bandana and doing a little dance. Take care xx

  20. Di, I agree with the others. Taking care of yourself is a priority. We can google cards with the prize items if we want to see a card. Then... when you are back to feeling 100% you can create sample cards if desired and post them for all to see. A virtual Gallery of your creativity that can also serve as a reason for all of us to celebrate your return to full health?!
Until then, do get lots of rest. (And I'd love to have my name in the draw for this pair of prizes.)

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm also in agreement - take care of yourself first & foremost! No need to put yourself in pain to make a card.
I do love that handsome reindeer and your card is festive and fun. Yes, please, to win the prize. :-)

  22. Thinking of you and wishing you will feel better soon. Echoing the no samples needed idea from your crafty friends. You take care now. Ironing? The only thing I iron these days is ribbon for a card which is a rare thing anyway. No prize for me. I have many reindeer, thanks for the other chances. Hugs!

  23. Love your description of Dudley dancing on his hind feet and wearing his Christmas bandana with a camp flourish! My English Cocker Tessa definitely can't dance on her hind feet - when she puts her front feet up, they have to balance on something for her to stay there. And she objected most strongly to wearing her plaid collar with jingle bells on it! Sorry to hear your shoulder is still plaguing you - maybe let that ironing languish for awhile!

I really love your sweet reindeer card - he definitely does have a Scandinavian feel.

I would love to be in this draw too. Thank you!

  24. Just want to agree with all the people who have already pointed out your comfort is far more important than samples. Take care of yourself, Di. If it hurts, please don't do it.
I think this is a lovely reindeer and I would like to be in the draw for it. (and I made a snippets card and am about to post it, so I'm finally in the legal column for the draws.)

  25. Please take care, Di!! You do so much, and I dont want to see you set your shoulder back!!! A great card, but I'll sit this draw out.

  27. So sorry you've had a setback with your shoulder - please be careful and don't stress about making samples! You are so kind and generous to be giving these prize packages, so please know that no samples are required! I think your card is adorable! I'm a YES, PLEASE for this one! Thanks so much!

  28. Such cute stamp sets! Truly hope your shoulder is soon on the mend. Would love to be entered for this prize.

  30. Must have seen this post on my phone as I just now read the entire post, thankfully--didn't know about dancing Havenese! I will be careful to include what is a snippet in the future as mine are probably not always obvious. Sorry if you've had to wonder in the past. At least this time it's clear--haha!

  31. I can just see Dudley pirouetting around with his Christmas bandana- totally cute and he'd be loving all the fuss. AND you, just look after yourself - I know it's hard not to try and do stuff (I broke my leg in Sept, and still have twinges in the ankle), our 'older' bodies just take longer to heal, so take card. I have trouble photographing cards too with the weird daylight (and we're in hot summer), anyway your reindeer card is fabulous Di.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes please to the prize. Please take care and though I enjoy your samples and how you've made them, you need to rest and recuperate.

  33. Love your story about Dudley's dance for treats, Di. He's such a sweetheart. :-D Love the reindeer and the sentiments and will gladly toss my hat into the ring for them. :-D

  34. Hi Di, we're back from the south coast again, we should have shares in the A3!! Happy new year to you, Len and Dudley. I love the idea of Dudley dancing for treats bless him. Just catching up with all the news. Hugs xxx
