A little 'pupdate' - as my friend SaRn would say

We took Dudley to see Georgina the vet again today. He trotted in happily to her room this time, a week ago we had to slide him along the floor - a bit like a puck in ice hockey!

He's going great guns apparently. The outer stitches are dis-solvable so, until the crusty line/scab goes, we'll keep his onesie on - that was one less trauma than I expected to be honest as I thought the outer stitches needed to be removed. She confirmed that they did indeed dig deep and quite wide to be sure of clear margins just in case it was exactly what it turned out to be. But, he's totally clear now - hooray!

And, best of all - he can finally now have free run of the house again. The pure joy on his face when I moved the lower stair barrier and said 'Off you go then Dudley' was priceless. He goes up two at a time in bunny hops and was up there in a trice, on the landing with his tongue hanging out - grinning down at me :)

And, once again, Georgina reiterated how helpful our rapid detection and getting him to the vet had been. There's no knowing how things could have panned out had we just left it and we're just so very grateful things worked out well. It isn't over reaction to have things checked out after all and if you ever have concerns, this really is a lesson in getting to your vet soon.

Next, I queued at the village Post Office for ages (returning something for Len, so not even my own post) - Christmas madness is starting! Afterwards could hardly squeeze into my car for the huge 'Tonka Toy' car parked so close you'd think it wanted to be more than friends with my little car. My new one is now delayed until mid-January - purely at the manufacturer's end, sigh.

Then I ran the gauntlet of our local Sainsbury's and stocked up on a lot of Christmas (with long shelf life or freezable) goodies. Needless to say, full of shoppers with bursting trolleys - and literally four tills open in what's one of the biggest supermarket stores in our area.

Came home and finally collapsed - and there's still two weeks to go - I might have peaked early!

  1. Yay for Dudley. Run around boy and go wild! Just don't rip anything open.

All the stores are busy now. The post office is a nightmare. The grocery stores are stocking, emptying and re-stocking. It's like you have to get to these places at dawn. So............you're going to have to get your 2nd wind so you can start again. [Bunny]

  2. Such a great report & can just see Dudley when he got the run of the house again! We lost our first dog to melanoma, but he was 12 yrs old when diagnosed & lived another year. I didn't know it's often found in such young pups. So, so happy he's free & clear! I lucked out at our post office today--in & out in less than 10 minutes mailing 2 cards & buying stamps!

  3. I'm so glad he is doing so well xxx
Ack ! I don't miss all that Chrimbo rush thingy. At least on my little Greek island it is a little less madness. I shop early because the Greeks leave everything to the last minute LoL xxx

  4. So glad he is recovering well.
The supermarket frenzy seems to have started very early this year - I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping it means it will get quieter in the final few days!

  5. Such a lovely pup date indeed......I can just picture him whooshing up the stairs then grinning like a Cheshire Cat 😀
As for shopping ....UGH to this time of year.......Alan had to go to Portsmouth Black Friday Saturday (why is Black Friday not just on the Friday?!!!), and they were queueing to get in the shops! He gave up but couldn't even get in a cafe!

  6. It is great to have these 'pupdates' - Dudley has become an integral part of the playground now and I'm sure there are many of us who for various reasons can't have an animal friend of our own but love to share in his exploits.

  9. So happy for you both and (OF COURSE) for Dudders - he'll be glad to get rid of that onesie though he might feel cold once it comes off.

Well done on the unselfish queuing and for negotiating the overfriendly car parked too close to your own. Hope you won't have to wait too long in to the New Year for Santa's belated present to you!

    Happy Tuesday

  10. I need a onesie like Dudders - it's blowing a gale (again - second one in 4 days), raining and I am generally fed up with the weather - although I - at my time of life - cannot go up the stairs two at a time....
Ha! Tonka Toy takes on Tilly Tigra.... only one winner there!

  18. Hang in there and get some rest! I'm so glad Dudley is doing so well and almost back to his normal self. Dogs just adjust to whatever is going on and keep on going. Good for you for having him checked out.

  19. It's great that Dudley didn't have to have his stitches out so saved more discomfort having that done, and also being allowed upstairs again, I can imagine how excited he was Di, like a kid let out of school..lol. x

  25. That just the best possible report on Dudley! And a good reminder to us all not to ignore things - I agree, it's always worth going to the vet to have anything suspicious checked out. Christmas madness has started in the shops and post offices in Vancouver too - just crazy! I'd like to stay home with a good book and a cup of tea and my dog on my lap!!!

  26. Great to hear that Dudley is doing so much better now.

Christmas madness is _on_ in Finland too. Our post was on strike for nearly two weeks and that caused so much extra craziness with everything. Luckily it is only 9 more nights left and we are off to Tunisia for two weeks -- will be spending both Christmas and New Year's Eve abroad.

    Take care.
    Hugs,
    Eemeli

  27. Delighted to hear how well Dudley is doing and so relieved for you and Len. You were right to be concerned and to move as swiftly as you did. He's a wee cutie. I hate shopping at the best of times but at this time of year I'd really rather not. It's madness. If everyone goes home for Christmas then surely not everyone needs to pile into the supermarket and stock up as if for a siege - just my thoughts on it! Hugs, Elizabeth xx

  28. Such good news about Dudley and so happy for you that you can now start to relax again. Same crazyness here too. Queued for ages to post parcel for Emma, but I did manage to laugh about it as the poor postmaster (who I always joke with) was getting in a right tizz, so he was worse off than me xx

  29. Fantabulous outcome/news, Di! Give that adorable Dudley a big kiss and hug for me. Have a wonderful weekend. xx

  30. Thought I'd left a message here Di - absolutely delighted to hear that Dudley has the all-clear and is scampering around the house again :) You are brave - getting out there in the Christmas madness! I'm strictly 'out of hours' only! Vicky xx
