The week was going 'sort of OK', although I cancelled my hair appointment on Tuesday in favour of not taking any chances at being unable to get Dudley to his groomers appointment on Thursday. And how right I was to have done that!
I'll do an update at the end of this post but meanwhile we can jump straight in with the prize for this fortnight and it's a bit of a bumper one. Not so long ago, Lynn B (known to us as Linby) sent me a lovely package of goodies, all new and unused, for the Playground Toy Box. I could only source the adorable narwhal stamps and dies to make my own sample card (a few challenges ago) so I kept the other goodies for the time being as a future prize. It's almost serendipity really and I'm so very grateful for Lynn coming to the rescue - in advance as it were!
Above we have a 'Vase and flowers' pair of dies, made by Apple Blossom and on the right is a Crafters Companion set of stamps called 'Sweet Wishes'.
And above we have a Crafters Companion set of stamps called 'Spread Your Wings' and the sweetest set of Christmas/New Year stamps, by Apple Blossom, called 'Woodland Party'.
I really do not want to split this lovely bumper set of FOUR items - they cover different occasions and styles and would make a great addition to your 'stash'. As it is, I still have prizes to post to winners of two previous challenges. And I'm totally sure that if you do win then neither Lynn nor myself will mind in the least if you share your good fortune with friends that are local to you. So, if you play for the prize you'll be playing for the whole bundle. To be honest, I know that I could use every single item quite happily.
As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 16th March. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.
It's a maximum of ONE entry and please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.
Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you're wanting to be in the draw in a comment on here, then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' on the blog post itself- just in case you're playing only for fun - otherwise I don't add you to my little list.
Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, it's easy for me to sort out so don't struggle on alone ☺
Here's the update on what this past week brought. Feel free to just sigh and move on - I know that's exactly what I would jus love to do with this ongoing saga.
Having rested for most of the week, even managing to make a card for ScrappyMo's Rudolph Days Challenge, things were looking up and on Thursday afternoon we took Dudley to the groomers. I wore the most comfortable shoes possible, used the walking stick and took it very steady. We dropped Dudley off and then I suggested we called to see if a prescription was ready for me in our local Sainsbury's pharmacy. On a roll and getting over confident with it.
It wasn't too difficult getting round the supermarket as I used a shallow shopping trolley as a 'Walking frame with wheels'. Sure it wasn't comfortable but I'd dosed up on strong painkillers just beforehand. The prescription wasn't ready so we poodled around the supermarket doing a bit of shopping and killing time before collecting Dudley.
When we got back home the foot was sore but I thought that was to be expected - but didn't bargain for what hit me yesterday. One huge step backwards just as if an elephant had been tap dancing on the top of my foot - the shoes have a soft flap over the top and just that pressure must have been too much! So that put paid to my plans to sit at the desk and make a snippets card.
Today is an improvement thankfully and at least am sleeping much better, for several nights running now. I think it's just that the foot has been so inflamed it's taken a bit of a hammering already and it takes very little to cause it to react. So, back to being totally barefoot for now and just very grateful that we have no appointments lined up. Huge thanks to prizewinners for being so patient as well.
I do so wish I'd taken a photo of Dudley when we got home on Thursday - he still looks absolutely gorgeous after being bathed, slightly trimmed around his 'skirt' and paws, nails clipped etc. and he was also blow dried but when we picked him up he looked ready for the show ring! In the end we've decided to persevere with his fringe/bangs and the dear girls in the salon tied him a sweet little top knot. Ha, needless to say it was out by yesterday morning but it showed his sweet little face and huge brown eyes off perfectly. He looked just like a typical Havanese - what a surprise, I should hope he would! I now have some small latex bands bands and also a doggie hair styling product on order so we can keep going with the growing out of his fringe! Ha, ha - first catch your Havanese though - he's one wriggly little puppy! We weighed him at the pet place and he's 6kg now - so has put on half a kilo in six weeks. That's pretty good and means his rate of growth is slower - sort of plateau-ing.
Sorry about all the words, I did find writing about the gout useful for future reference. Looking back to three years ago it was quite a few weeks before I was able to attempt what I did on Thursday. That time, Christmas landed just as I was getting over the worst so there was no reason to be out and about. Having said that - I did so love the outing the other day, hence probably not knowing when to stop!
Lots of love from Parsnip, Dudley - and of course me,
Di, I am so sorry to hear about the pain you are in. Know that you have friends around the globe who are holding you in our thoughts and prayers. In spite of your situation, you still find time to post this challenge? You are really amazing. [And these four prize items are also amazing. I'd love to add them to my stash so please count me in.]
ReplyDeleteYes, I wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize.
ReplyDeleteHoping you recover soon from the pain!
ReplyDeleteYes, count me in for all these fab prizes, would love to win!
Oh no..so sorry to hear that you had a setback Di, but I'm glad you seem to be making baby steps back. I know how frustrating it must be to have the recuperation going so slowly but apparently your foot keeps reminding you to slow down. Isn't it a cruel irony that feeling good makes you push the limits..and then you're back where you started.
ReplyDeleteThe more I hear about gout the happier I am that I've never suffered from it...knock on wood.
Awww, I can't wait to see a recent photo of Dudley and I'll bet he was just the cutest thing after his trip to the groomers. I bathe and trim Toby at home now, as I know I will be more careful with him than at the crowded groomers. He's 14 years old and has bad knees so we have to be careful with his handling. Lucky for me he's always cooperative and sweet when I groom him, although it takes days instead of hours!
Yes please to this wonderful prize, and thank you to Lynn B for donating to your toybox!
Ouch! I'm so sorry to hear about the setback. Recuperation can be very challenging, you are constantly trying to work out how much you can "get away with" and if you push even slightly too far you feel as if you've gone back to square one. Hope this is just a temporary blip on the road to recovery.
ReplyDeleteMm so true Di, we are our own worst enemy at times, pain killers are great but they can make us do more than is wise.. pray you refer ASAP as it can be so discouraging the three steps forward two steps back...
ReplyDeleteWhat as really great prize will be back. and if you ever need a quickie Snippets Card you can always give me a yell, I could whip one up, just not with prize items of the challenge of course.. but happy to step in the breach so to speak. 😃
Sending prayer hugs🙏🏻🤗 for healing your way dear Di, will be back for a link up!
Hugs Shaz in Oz.x
Take it easy Di and I hope your foot starts to improve soon. I bet Dudley looked really cute!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous prize and I would love a chance to win, please. I'll be in the playground soon.
Kath x
Oh dear, so sorry to hear about your setback but hopefully it will be short-lived as long as you don't overdo things. I know what you mean about enjoying an outing, however mundane, when you've been confined to barracks for any reason. Take great care. Interesting prize selection.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to read of your setback and can almost feel your pain as I'm reading. So pleased I have at least been of some help to you take care L x
ReplyDeleteso sorry to hear of your set back, funny how as we feel a little better we all like to push the limits and our bodys answer back! It must be so frustrating but a least you can have lots of cuddles with Dudley and Parsnip. Just played along with my card for this fortnight and would love to be in with a chance of the lovely prizes you are offering.
ReplyDeleteHope your foot improves soon.
Love and hugs Nicky
So sorry for you, Di!! Perhaps you have forced a little bit too much your feet but hopefully they will go better early!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the little Dudley after his grooming, with the cute bow and his sweet brown eyes peeking out :) Six Kg, wow, he seems growing fast!
So kind of Lynn B donating all these fabulous gifts for the Playground toy-box!! Wow! And very generous from you both giving them away! Surely I say YES for entering in the draw, thanks!! Hopefully I will enter early this time, I'm just finishing my project :D
Hugs and take care!
Poor you Di. Hoping things get better for you very soon.
ReplyDeleteA great prize so yes please - (I have managed to join in despite the kitchen chaos!! Almost done thankfully) x
So sorry to hear your recovery has been set back somewhat Di, how frustrating for you, but glad that there has been some improvement since, but at least Dudley has been pampered and primped and looks a million dollars I'm sure. Thanks for this great prize but I have decided to play just for fun this time. x
ReplyDeleteEntered in the challenge! :D Yes please for the amazing big prize :)
ReplyDeleteHugs
So sorry to hear about your setback and hope things improve again soon... No more appointments and get that foot up and rested. I hope Dudley appreciates the pain you go through to get him pampered.
ReplyDeleteI shall be around with a card at some point but will only be playing for fun xx
Ii's so hard to stay down when you feel so much better. I hate that you are suffering again. I had to laugh when you said you have a doggie hair styling product. Oh my gosh, that is a hoot! Don't get it mixed up with yours. I bet Dudley looked so adorable when you picked him up.
ReplyDeleteWell, crap, I'm so sorry that your fun outing ended up landing on your toe, Di. Happily, it was much better the next day! Yes, please do take a photo of Sir in his top-knot. How long do you need to keep letting the fringe grow until it is "out" and can be cut. I always thought hair just grew whether you cut it or not, so this is all very fascinating to me and something I never heard about with Cisco. Take care of yourself as you pad around the house like Pocahontas! Hugs, Darnell xxoo
ReplyDeleteOUCH! Sounds like the outing didn't do your toe much good, but that it did your soul good to get out after so long. 'Spect you had cabin fever!
ReplyDeleteNot sure a top knot is suitable for a BOY though! Mind you, thinking about it, footballers go around with these days, so maybe it's ok?
GREAT prizes.
Good luck playmates.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Ooh l only hope your foot gets better soon and nice to read that you are getting there slowly but surely and rest is the best medicine you need Dudley seems to be keeping you on your toes too good that you cancelled your appointment and kept his, l managed to get the die and it's amazing how many different ways it can be used after checking it out on the internet you have some gorgeous goodies to give away and how nice of Lynn B to donate them l am only playing for fun but one lucky winner will love to win them take care sending lots of love x
ReplyDeleteGosh, the things we do for our animals LOL. I hope you feel better soon Di. I'm playing super early this fortnight and would love to be included in the draw for the prize. Hugz
ReplyDeleteAwww Di you poor thing, I'm so sorry that you are still suffering, it sounds so ruddy painful!! Glad Dudley is all neat but it's a shame you had to cancel your own hair appointment. What a awesome prize this fortnight. Yes please from me! Thanks so much and take care, sending healing love xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm saying prayers for you, Di, each morning and each evening. Stay off the foot, my friend, even though you think it's healing. Give it time!! :-D
ReplyDeleteI'm playing for fun this challenge. Hugs.
Chin up, feet up and don't feel fed up and get rid of that flipping elephant. Glad that you managed to get Dudley sorted and you are teasing us by telling us how cute he looks. Hope this coming week show a vast improvement for you.
ReplyDeleteKath x
Oh gosh, Di, so to hear that your little outing resulted in you being laid up again. Hope you're feeling a little better today. Looking forward to seeing more photos of cute little Dudley.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Yes Please for the draw this fortnight and I'll be back to link up my card. xx

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you're not back to feeling better yet - more prayers coming your way!
ReplyDeleteAnd WOW, Di, what a fabulous prize this challenge! Your generosity knows no bounds. And of course I would love to play for it. Thank you!!!
Goodness Di!!! You over did it with that shoe for sure! Pain killers are great for when you are home resting as they manage the pain for you, but they are not for going out and over doing it such as you did! Yes, I'm fussing you, but in a loving way. lol I know it was so nice to get out and about some but that foot needs to heal and that gout needs to go down. I hope you have your RX now and are taking it. I'm sure Dudley was as handsome as he would be with his "man" bun/knot. lol He is a cutie anyway! Yes, puppies are very squiggly and hard to hold on to. But one day he will calm down for you and hopefully will snuggle and let you do whatever you want with his hair. lol Get well my friend, that foot has to be miserable! Big Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteOh, my my my my, dear Di!! I am soooooooo sorry for your setback. That sounds terribly painful. Hoping it is better day by day and that you can find the right balance of activity and rest.
ReplyDeleteHow nice of Lynn B to donate the fabulous prize. Thank you!! Yes, please, to putting my name in the hat for it. Wow...wouldn't that be a treat to win!!
Thank you for another fun challenge, Di, even while you are undergoing a difficult challenge with your gout. Hoping you will be up and smelling the roses again very, very soon.

Oh, Di - am so sorry you are going through this pain. Wish I could give you a hug. Yes, I am playing this time for the draw. So wonderful you still are doing this even while laid up. Hugs to Dudley too.
ReplyDeleteHello Di, I do hope your poorly foot is easing somewhat by now... its so damn inconvenient when pain knocks you for six and its always when you have lots to do, take care. I'm playing just for fun this time around, thought I'd try and show my face more often this year :) x
ReplyDeleteJust uploaded my entry for this challenge and would like to say that I am just playing for fun this challenge as I would probably only use a fraction of your fabulous prize.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read of your set back and hope it's only been a temporary hiccup in your recovery. Dudley continues to sound like a little treasure, good to read he's growing according to plan!
Take care
Kathyk

ReplyDeleteWell Di I do hope you are improving every day, truly awful and painful, my MIL had a couple of bouts so I know it's a slow process to get back to 'normal'. I bet seeing Dudley all trimmed up helped a bit - he'd of looked too cute. Yes I'd love to go in draw for the stamp sets. Cheers and do get well soon, so you can make some cards Hugs Robyn

Hi Miss Di, the lovely Parsnip, and cutie Dudley.
ReplyDeleteYes Please if I'm lucky.
Thank you to Linby for her generosity she is a star.
Well it does sound like you over did it a bit with your outing, but needs must, and you do get so fed up with the same 4 walls at times.
I can relate to that as I don't get about much now as I can't drive beacause of my eye probs, and hubby also can't drive too, so my only outings are on the bus occasionally, and food shopping with my Daughter.
Oh lately I have joined another singing group, and that gets me out for an hour and half each week. Yipee!
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Oh, Di, I hope your recovery is progressing. Setbacks are so depressing.
ReplyDeleteYes please on the draw.
Yes Di, playing along to be a possible winner. Hugs my friend, Brenda
ReplyDeleteHi Di, I hope that you have been improving every day and your little mop top is behaving himself after his trim... Megan

ReplyDeleteDo take things easy, Di, because you don't want another setback.
Marianne x
Sorry to hear about your set-back, Di! You definitely over did it on the day when you were feeling pretty good. We've all done that. Glad you don't have to put those shoes back on for a while. Get lots of rest. Sending healing thoughts your way! Happy to find time to visit the playground again so soon!! :) xx
