Leaving card

We have a lovely little 'beauty and health' centre close by - and for a while now I've been treating myself to a regular pedicure session, just to have my tootsie nails trimmed and a foot massage. Sadly, Shirley, the lady I see, isn't in great health herself (she has a back problem just for starters!) and she's decided that it's time she retired. I'll miss her loads as we're very similar in outlook, sigh.

So I made this card to take along for my final appointment with her:
I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card blank

- panels across the top and bottom of the card made using plain navy snippets and patterned card from the DCWV 'Juniper Berry' stack - glued in place using Collall All Purpose glue

- the sentiment was stamped using the Misti, SU's 'Marina Mist' ink and a sentiment stamp from Kaisercraft's 'Bon Voyage' set

- the three shoes were die cut and embossed using the Marianne Design Creatables - Shoe die (LR0291) and little snippets of blue card to pick out the colours in the patterned panels. One of the snippets is SU's 'Marina Mist', according to my comparison swatch - hence the colour of the sentiment :)

- then each shoe was glued in place, using Colall All Purpose glue in a fine line applicator bottle

- final touch, a little pearl in the centre of each embossed flower

Trying to keep a bit to the theme of her work, I suddenly found a use for the lovely little shoe die and they do look a little bit as if they heading off somewhere :)

  3. What a perfect card for a pedicurist, I bet she loved it! It's one of the joys of making cards isn't it - you couldn't possibly have found one so right for her in the shops

  13. Love that shoe die, and it is so appropriate for this purpose -- however, I also think you could use this design for a number of occasions just by altering the sentiment.

  15. I tried to leave a comment earlier to tell you how very thoughtful this was for you to give this to the lady who does your toes. Blogger is being a super pain today, but I got back to tell you how sweet your shoe dies look. A girl can never have too many shoes!

  17. Looks to me that if she is retiring she is "walking back to happiness" whoops oh yea, or something similar.
Great card for the Lady and you couldn't have picked a better image, great shades of blue too.

Another thought is that wearing those type of shoes folk will need a regular foot massage. Oh yes I remember those heels very well, I now wear Sketches trainer, whenever possible.
    Have a lovely weekend.

  20. Fabulous card! Love all the blues and those super cute shoes, perfect for Shirley's card, she will love it! If I wore shoes that high I would need a foot massage, that's if I could walk to the salon! My daughter loves wearing high heels, not me though! xxx

  23. Awww, what a great card for Shirley!!! I love it and love those heels, wish I could still wear them, but the RA screams if I put any kind of heel on. boo hoo. I so love heels too. lol Poor Shirley, I'm sure with her back problems that doing pedi's are hard it her back, so I can understand why she is retiring. Such a shame though as you both sounded like you were well suited with each other. I love getting a pedi too, got them last summer and I feel in love with getting them. Sadly I haven't been back but am considering for this summer season, to go once in a while. I hope you find another person who will be as good as Shirley was Di. Hugs, Brenda
