This is my entry:
- 4.25" x 5.5" white card blank, tent style
- a slightly smaller backing layer of beige coloured Core'dinations card
- piece of white card, trimmed to slightly smaller than the beige layer and then (using the Misti) stamped the sentiment using Memento 'Toffee Crunch' ink and a sentiment from the Winnie & Walter's 'The Big, the Bold and the Happy' stamp set
- wrapped beige twine twice around the card front and stuck it in place at the back
- glued the panel to the card front using Collall All Purpose glue
- then, using the glue gun, added a Papermania 'Burlap Bloom' and topped it with a beige twine daisy flower
The beige twine, burlap flower and also the twine daisy were gifts from Jules a little while ago. And she made that lovely daisy using an 'almost antique' brass 'Daisy Loom'. A lovely little piece of equipment, very cleverly designed with retractable 'pins' so you can slip the daisy off when it's been sewn together in the centre.
Who knows, I may even hop back with a second entry next week as LIM is one of my favourite challenges :)
Next I need to catch up on my Christmas card making - beginning to slip again!

I'm loving the burlap flower with the loopy twine flower on top! It's a real honest-to-goodness homespun looking card!

ReplyDeleteI love your twine wrap Di and the burlap and twine flower sits beautifully on top and a nice large sentiment too. I haven't heard of the daisy loom before but it must be useful tool as the flower is very pretty. x

I love the simplicity of this card. I do believe i have one of those daisy makers somewhere. I remember making a blanket of green and yellow daisies for my doll's bed. So, yes, it is practically antique! I have never thought to use twine with it though. Thanks for another good idea. Kate xx

Wonderful texture with the burlap & twine in the CAS flower design. The subtle neutrals look so very cool! Yeah, bet the Swindon group are having such fun, and I enjoyed seeing you in the Darnell group photos. Spotted you right away. Saw a post you did at Linby's about the smaller Misti, vs the large one. If you do a lot of large projects, by all means the larger one is great. I just do cards, but got the larger one first. Debated on forking over for the small one, but I did, and have been happy to have it. Find that I reach for it more than the large one, and if you can borrow someone's first, before you buy the larger. And with the small misti, it's easier to use sitting down. I find that I have to stand to use the regular size one. Just FWIW...Hugs, and happy wkend. TFS

Read your comment about lining up. Believe me, even though it is held outside, they angle a car across and one of the store owners stands outside and prevents anyone from entering. There is always a big line up.
Usually I just arrive at 10 when they open but I did stand in that line up for the June sale as I wanted a Big Shot to leave up at the lake and did not want to pay over $50.
I got one plus platform and plates, plus long platform and log plates, and 2 extra plates for $50. I was over the moon!
Burlap and twine! What lovely textures. All that and are your card is clean and crisp (and not grungy which is always what pops in my mind when I hear 'texture'). That twine daisy is way cool! A daisy loom, eh? How awesome is that. I'm so glad to be alive in this world.
