The current challenge over at Merry Monday is 'Non-Evergreen Trees'. And, over at Hazel's Craftyhazelnuts Christmas Challenge it's 'Use some of your favourite things'. I love stamping, embossing, die cutting, ribbon and sparkle - so out came a couple of stamps for the scene on this card and away I went:
I used:
- A6 white card blank
- a layer of white card, embossed using the Darice 'Snowflake Background' embossing folder and then trimmed to marginally
less than A6
- attached a band of ribbon (SU's 'Lost Lagoon') with a little piece knotted around it and glued the whole panel onto the card front
- the image was stamped using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink, trees first and then the deer with the aid of my
trusty stamp positioner. The trees are a Hobby Art 'Tree Scene' stamp and the little deer is probably by Serendipity
- then I covered the image in double sided sticky film, leaving the top still protected before die cutting it using a die from the Spellbinders 'Labels Eighteen' set. Then I peeled the top protective layer off and coated it
with glitter similar to Glamour Dust but less fine - and a lot cheaper too
- next I used the next die up in the 'Labels Eighteen' set and die cut a backing layer from silver holographic card and glued the two layers together
- then added the finished panel to the card front using thin sticky pads
And of course, while all the stuff was out I made a total of four cards, all the same :)
This is also for Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for May, where it's always 'Anything Goes'.

ReplyDeleteThis is SO gorgeous with that golden panel and all the sparkle! I love the embossed snowflake background too! NJ!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Di. Love the snowflake embossed background. And your image is so sparkly with the glitter coating. Gorgeous! Definitely worth making a few at once since you've got the glitter out ... then having to only clean up once. :) xx
ReplyDeleteThat's so pretty! Still not tried the double sided sticky glitter technique, but it's on the list!

ReplyDeleteLovely card Di......sensible to make a few...but doesn't ease my guilt at having made none yet!
ReplyDeleteI like the glittered panel, and that nice label die. And I much prefer that Darice snowflake EF to my old cuttlebug one. A lovely card. Kate x

ReplyDeleteWow! Fabulous card!! You used a very beautiful technique, love the glittered image!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, Di, the sparkle is fabulous. I really enjoy reading the tutorials, sticky film and glitter sounds more pleasant than glue and glitter.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs

I love your beautiful sparkly image, and it looks lovely in the silver frame. The snowflake embossing is just the right backing for it too. I have that EF and I find it so useful.

This is a lovely Christmas card Di and the pretty scene looks great with the covering of glitter which gives it an icy feel and is beautifully enhanced by the SB label shaped die. The snowflake EF gives it a pretty background too and the ribbon adds just the right amount of colour. x
ReplyDeleteOh my Di, this card is just beautiful!! I love the glittery scene, the paper mat under the scene is so neat looking and shiny-gotta love the glitter and shimmer! The embossing folder you used is perfect for your sweet scene and I love the ribbon on the side like that. Very beautiful indeed! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, Di! I tried to get the sparkle on a card and the images faded to nothing. I'll have to remember that sticky film. I use heat and stick. Maybe it's too thick... Anyway, thanks for sharing this beauty with us at Merry Monday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Di, the sparkle looks wonderful! TFS your tip with the sticky film too, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! Love the glitter over the image...I cheat with a cheaper version too!
ReplyDeleteThe silver mat is fabulous too!
Love the sparkle Di x
ReplyDeleteA jaw dropper, Di! I'm determined to case this beauty--love the glitter without using spray adhesive like I learned to do! I do "need" that embossing folder as I like it so much better than the one I have.
ReplyDeleteSuper sparkly Christmas card Di! Having a bit of me time catching up on blogs!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Diane, this is a stunning wintery scene. Thank you for joining us for Merry Monday.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really gorgeous design, Di, and a standout in the gallery at MM! I think you've got a winner here!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteI love how you added the glitter over the image. The scene is so serene and wintery. It makes me cold just looking at it.
ReplyDeleteSO pretty! It looks so elegant, perfect colour scheme. Thank you for joining us at CHNC Extra.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at this: "I love stamping, embossing, die cutting, ribbon and sparkle" which means just about everything is open to you for a do what you love challenge. Great card and I love the sparkle, it makes it very wintery. I feel the chill! Oh, nevermind, that's the air conditioner.
