Love you just the way you are

Whilst Len was out at archery the other morning, I whipped up a very quick Valentine's Day card for him. Thankfully he doesn't check my blog :)
I used:

- A6 white card blank

- snippet of SU 'Real Red' card stock and a snippet of black card stock for the 'frames'

- stamped the heart using SU 'Real Red' and the sentiment using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' - both stamps came from SU's 'Sprinkled Expressions' set

- it looked a little stark so I stamped a couple of splatters using Memento 'Gray Flannel' and a stamp from SU's 'Gorgeous Grunge' set

- then I almost wrecked the thing - bearing in mind I was working to limited time as Len was almost due home! I punched all four corners using a Woodware fancy corner punch - and totally mis-punched the top left corner! Bit of swift thinking and I grabbed the corner rounder scissors and rounded that corner and the bottom right one

Shame it's not as I'd planned, but the scissors did save the day I suppose.

  11. This looks fabulous Di . . . I am all for a bit of Gorgeous Grunge on cards, as you know!

Len will love it because it was hand made by you with love (and a sprinkle of desperation . . . but HE doesn't know that bit!).

  14. This is wonderful Di and Len will love it. Those rounded edges look great and I would never have known that they weren't part of the original design and the SU stamp and sentiment work well with the ink spots too. I still have to make one for my other half - will probably be burning the midnight oil with a last minute make! x

  25. Aww thanks so much, didn't really know that you cared.
Brilliant card, very different shape and a great idea to use the scissors as it has worked so well. Can't beat that sentiment.
Now then, what's all this about turtles?, if I'd have know I could have smuggled a couple of those as well.
I sneaked Iggy in through the customs by putting him my pocket, never made a sound, in my other pocked was a cigarette lighter as they confiscate those as well at Barbados airport.
The bad news is, he has gone awol, no idea where, but he is in the house somewhere, maybe he got a little scared or excited after I showed him a picture of Parsnip
Grandson's coming tomorrow, so instead of hunt the thimble it will be hunt the Iguana as they are really looking forward to meeting him.

Have a great weekend, dreadful cough, pleased to hear that it is quite common at the moment as I was thinking of asking for a chest X-ray.

    Love and Happy Valentines Day,

    Kath x

  26. Hello Di,

What a great card for Len! I'm sure he'll love it. I'm doing fine. My new job is very busy and when I'm home I don't feel like turning on the computer - just sit in my chair and knit! I have several projects I've finished and need to write posts about them.

I found out I need my left knee replaced (no big surprise). I'll plan to do it after my cruise to Hawaii and when I've built up some vacation/sick hours. Other than that I'm doing well.

Hugs to you and Len and
    Happy Valentine's Day!!

  28. Lovely card and I'm sure it was much appreciated. Well done for rescuing the corners and I actually admired the asymmetrical look and assumed it was deliberate before I read the reason for it!!

  29. Had to giggle at your crafty mishap because that has happened so often with me as well. However, you saved it and created a beautiful tag!
