Whilst I love the fawns, I truly didn't like the idea of fussy cutting round the different layers - all the more so as they came with a pre-dotted white border which I felt would look a bit silly on decoupaged layers. Cutting the border off was going to mean losing some of the detail on the little fawn's fur etc. - so I just used the main image, closed my eyes, apologised to the little fawn and popped the 'layering' parts of his body into the waste paper bin - to be recycled of course, but not by me!
Anyhow, this was the end result:
- 6" x 6" square white card blank
- bluebell coloured Core'dinations backing card
- backing paper from the pack I was just writing about
- the little fawn image, popped onto a bluebell coloured frame cut (I'd used a Spellbinders Lattice Rectangle die to cut the plain card)
- TIP: from the word go I knew I wanted to add ribbon and a bow, but I only had lovely matching bluebell coloured organza ribbon and the pattern from the backing paper would show through. Why didn't I ever think to do this before - I just cut one side of the patterned paper shorter (ie, with a wider margin) so that the ribbon would sit nicely over just the plain bluebell backing card with no pattern showing through
- the ribbon, green cord and charm all came from my goodies here (I quite liked that the flower charm is a similar shape to the open flowers on the backing paper - just press your nose against the screen and you'll see what I mean)
- the sentiment is a Craftwork Cards one, just popped onto a snippet of the bluebell coloured card which was punched using SU's 'Scallop Oval' punch
Love the darling little fawn I must admit :) And I added a little touch of Wink of Stella to the butterfly after the photo was taken.
The Playground will close at 11am today remember, but it re-opens at midnight! My little fingers will be flying over the keyboard here doing the write-up this morning - the penalty of going out to play :) Parsnip is still recovering!!

This is so pretty and I love how you did your own thing with the design....and the ribbon!...clever idea. Funny how things suddenly click isn't it! I love the colours in this. and the fawn is super cute.

ReplyDeleteHope Parnsip and Fergus recover from all their rough and tumbling yesterday. Best we don't mention that Parsnip had his nose put out of joint when the waiter clearly gave Fergus preferential treatment. Or that Fergus was nearly kidnapped!

The paper you have used for the background is just gorgeous! I love that you made it shorter (I'm not sure I would have thought to do that) so the beautiful ribbon didn't fight to compete with the beautiful paper. Love that little charm too!
