Someone got an early Christmas present from Santa

Our lovely 17 year-old neighbour, Abi, passed her driving test - yippee - so I whipped up a card in double quick time:
I used:

- 6" x 6" white card blank

- a frame of gold mirri card

- the image is an upcycled card, but it seemed just so appropriate as if Santa is giving an early Christmas gift :)

- the L-plate was just copied and resized from the internet, printed onto glossy card, torn in half and placed so it looks as if Santa's throwing it away

- used gold peel offs for the 'Congratulations' and also Abi's name

I bet most of us can remember that heart in mouth feeling when we first took to the road without anyone sitting beside us. I certainly can!

Well done Abi, clever girl!

PS. Do make sure you join in the three year Snippets Playground Celebration party :) And I think I'm almost ready for Christmas - wahoo - that was a miracle!!!

  6. I was a very late learner driver . . . so I CAN remember that feeling . . . plus wondering HOW you got to places . . . never had to think about routes being a passenger for so long!!!!

Fabulous card idea Di. Abi is bound to love it. You won't see her for dust now!

So pleased your Christmas miracle has occurred and you're now READY for the big day.

  9. Congrats to Abi and this is a super card Di and very cleverly thought out. I too was a late learner but unfortunately as the car was not available for me to use that often it never got to feel natural and I lost my nerve. I did have some refresher lessons about three years ago, but I think that driving is not for me. I feel cross with myself sometimes for being such a scaredy cat and will probably regret not keeping it up but learning wben you are young and carefree is the best option. Glad you are ready for Christmas now Di and hope you have a lovely one. x

  10. You are so clever to come up with a card like this - which is perfect for Abi!! Who knew Santa driving a car would be the ideal image for such an occasion, but it certainly is! Congrats to Abi, and congrats to you for being ready for the big day! Merry Christmas Di!

  13. What a brilliant card! It wasn't until I read how you made it, that I realised that the L plate was added. I thought what a coincidence that you had a picture of Santa holding an L plate....... I should have guessed it was you being clever in adding it and making it look like part of the scene! Congratulations to Abi. What a fantastic early Christmas present!

Well done, Di, on being almost ready for Christmas. I'm nearly there, still have a few prezzies to wrap and some meringues to make today but that's about it.

    Have a great Christmas. xx

  18. What a lovely Christmas present for Abi and a fabulous card that you have made for her - a brilliant idea, were you on the cocktails!

All set here too, buffet Christmas eve and Christmas dinner at Daughters, me cooking of course and then buffet here Boxing Day, then it's tears on Saturday when Jude goes back 'home'

But I will get down to making some cards for the playground then, haven't made a card in over 2 weeks

  19. Oh how exciting for Abi! Oh yes, I can remember my first time alone on the road. lol And I can remember my youngest wanting me to go with him to town. I had laugh because I thought for sure he couldn't wait to get rid of me, but at 19 he is still asking me to go with him. lol I love, love this cute card Di! It is a perfect congrats card for Abi!! 20. What a perfect card to celebrate such an exciting celebration for your young neighbor. What fun she's going to have to be tooling around on her own, and enjoying freedom. How clever of you to have just 'the right card' to recycle to fit the occasion. Love all the detail touches you did to personalize it just for Abi, and bet she will too. TFS & Hugs
