By request - after a tortuous journey

A few of you wanted to see what the full end result was of the six weeks of tortuous en-suite shower room refitting. What was supposed to be a two week re-fit ran into a full six weeks - a lovely result but what a looooong haul to get there. I did a full test run yesterday morning and all seems to be well - brilliant in fact. And no damp patches on the ceiling below either (one of my biggest fears) - thank goodness!

This was at the end of day one as they started work - just a partial view of our bedroom, full of stuff ready for the job. It would appear that the bathroom company lack their own storage space don't you think?

And six weeks later - tah, dah! At last :) The shower all ready to rock and roll.

And the view from the shower.
Tons of wall and floor cupboards for storage (10 cupboards in total) - yay, no more sprays and bottles of cleaning stuff cluttering the place up. Even the narrow cupboard to the side of the toilet will house the loo brush and bottle of cleaner nicely. And there's plenty of room inside the top cupboards for all the toiletries anyone could wish for.

As the window is on the side of the house and not overlooked I think the only window dressing will be something like a white orchid plant - artificial, given my lack of green fingers!
Dual fuel (central heating/electric) towel rail so no damp towels in the Summer. Am such a wimp!
Taken from our bedroom, with the flash accidentally turned on - but at least it hides yours truly holding the camera! The mosaic border tiles fascinate me, some are stone, some are Mother of Pearl and some are light brown glass - a really lovely combination. But, as I've been saying - what a ride it's been!

Now there's the bedroom to tackle of course. The wallpaper border is finally all off so that's a good start!

Hope I didn't bore you - after a grim few weeks there's a little dog wagging two tails here (that would be me of course!). And Len is delighted to have the main bathroom all to himself again I'm sure :) Thankfully that was all refitted when we doubled the size of it during the extension build about five years ago - no way could either of us face this lot again - for a while at least! Never say never of course.

  8. This looks great and no doubt worth the effort.
You know your towel rail....you can put your undies on there overnight so you have warm pants to put on in the morning. And your PJs too during the day!!
I do that with mine when it is cold.
    Hugs

  12. Wow, it's so worth it in the end. This is beautiful. I'm so envious of the heated towel rail. I would love that in the winter! Your tile is lovely and so is the mosaic. I like the way the sink is out over the counter top.

  14. Oh my goodness it is so nice. I love the glass.pearl etc tile border strip. My daughter has one very similar...I can just imagine how the light must catch and dispaly the beauty of it.

Your cupboards are wonderful. You managed to fit so many in and the storage will be great. That little one is perfect for the loobrush and cleaner.
I envy you your heated towel bars. They are very uncommon to be central heat installed here...just the cheaper electric ones here and they plug in! I would love to get a wired in one in my new bathroom...

  19. It looks stunning! We had ours done about ten years ago and it made such a difference to me. Needs a coat of paint or two now but it was worth the mess and hard work in the end. But I do so feel for you with it having taken so much more time! Enjoy it Karen x

  20. It is lovely DI, and I´m sure it was well worth the wait. It has a Spanish look about it. All the bathrooms here have a border of tiles around the middle of the walls, but they are not all as pretty as these. Kate X

  22. wonderful space-- and I would love to have the heated towel rack--such a nice treat to dry off in a toasty warm towel! Happy for you and thanks for sharing the pictures!

  23. Yeppers, TFS these pictures. The remodel turned out so well, a very luscious space. The tile is beautiful, I'm green over that heated towel rack (something we don't see as much 'round here..but a stellar design plan). Love the narrow shelf around the wall, and that narrow cupboard for the bowl brush was brilliant. Beats having it sit in a handy corner. I can see that a lot of thought was put into your design planning, and it certainly paid off. I smiled at your ceiling comment. We have the same concerns!!! Glad it's all finished - ready for enjoying now. Big hugs.

  24. Oops..forgot to say...your 2wk est timetable into 6 wks made me think of my 6wks kitchen cabinet makeover that took 5 months (and more white hair for Moi). Our finished project doesn't look nearly as beautiful as your gorgeous bathroom remodel. Hugs
