Panic Birthday card

I was so involved with 'pre-teacher' training stuff that I almost missed a little chap's Birthday a few weeks ago - thank goodness for LOTV 'pre-coloured' images - phew:
I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card blank

- backing paper from DCWV's 'Juniper Berry' stack

- SU card stock to pick out the colours in the backing paper - I used 'Night of Navy' and 'Pool Party'

- pre-coloured LOTV Cute Square, die cut with a circle die - it's off the page so I could centre the image within the die more. Backed with a hand cut 'Night of Navy' circle

- a 'belly band' (I still grin at that description Elizabeth!) across the card using both SU colours, the top one was punched using a Martha Stewart edge punch called 'Lattice Edge'

- Britannia dies letter set for the name 'Joe' - I do have a love/hate relationship with these letters though - just in case you're wondering about ever buying them, even though they're a good deal cheaper than most others and do cut really well. For a start they aren't in perfect alphabetical order across the die set (must get round to marking the backs with each letter using a permanent marker) but no way would you want to separate them. It's very tricky to differentiate between some of the letters, EVEN once die cut. The letters are just too fancy and scrolled for my liking - trust me, I sat with an F and a J here for flipping ages before deciding which was actually the J - even though it still looks rather like an F to me :(

- the number 8 also was die cut using a Britannia dies set and mounted onto a circle of card

Then I dropped everything and ran for the post box. I didn't even stop to properly brush my hair, just hoped I didn't meet anyone I know :) Which reminds me of a friend going back MANY years. She was very blonde with fair eyelashes - and wouldn't even open the front door to anyone without having applied her mascara :)

  1. I was the very last minute getting a card done for my grandson. It wasn't nearly this cute and I didn't even have time to get a photo!

I forgot to take a picture of the card I made Little Miss C for her Birthday last week. Luckily i can bring my camera tomorrow and take a quick photo after school.

We are off to drive by houses for sale in Langley tomorrow.DH still says he is not ready to downsize...but I have scouted out a few likely candidates and plan to drag him by the outsides...prolly find they are behind power lines or Lord knows what all...but if you don't at least look, you will never know...right???

  5. Lovely card Di, the cut off die cut is very cool and really adds to the card. I chuckled too when you said belly band and the image in my mind was so different to card making lol. Hope you are having a wonderful holiday. Hugs, Amanda x

  8. This is super Di - I do admire crafters who can make quick cards like this one. What a sweet little image and the backing paper is brilliant. I have just about stopped laughing at the belly band - I sometimes wish my imagination wasn't sooo vivid!

    Hope you are both well.

    Hugs to you Sue Pxxx

  9. Great card Miss. I have a two toned pink DP by Sally Moret that is spookily very like your backing paper. I got it out just to check.
Tell me about those alphabets! I also bought the lower case set. It was like an Einstein puzzle. Not only were they NOT in order on the die cast but some of them were upside down. The only way I could work it out was die cut out and to paste them onto a sheet of card in the right order and do by sheer elimination!! I needed to go and lie down after that in a dark room!! Hugs Mrs A.

  13. Oh, great boy's card. Wow for you getting it done so rapidly too, and it turned out beautifully. He'll love this handmade card! Thx for the heads up on the alphabet set. I had drooled over it. Glad I got the word on it, and I see Mrs. A also had difficulties. If you 2 experts have problems, I _know_ I would!!! TFS & hugs.
