Butterfly whisper and chocolate cake

Sitting in the craft room the other week, I spied a snippet of pink 'spider's web' in pink, grabbed another little piece of black 'spider's web' and this was born:
I used:

- 5" x 6" white linen card blank - a funny size but this card might well need a box anyhow

- black and pink 'spider's web' ribbon

- a lovely pink gauze jewelled butterfly embellishment, bought years ago - possibly from Lakeland Limited when they sold card making goodies

- sentiment by Hero Arts called 'Handwritten Happy Birthday' - very bravely  (for me) stamped in black Ranger Archival Ink without the aid of a safety net stamp positioner, once the card was almost finished

- a little mix of black pearls and pink gems at two corners plus one little pink one over the letter 'i'

Quite quick and easy, once I backed the inside of the front of the card to hide where the 'spider's web' ribbon was stuck down :)

Len had a lovely Birthday and thanks you all for your kind wishes. At 4pm yesterday this was brought to our room:
A delicious chocolate cake - which took the two-legged mouse completely by surprise. In fact it took me by surprise too when the Guest Relations Manager got me to one side at breakfast, said that they knew it was Len's birthday from his passport registration and what would be a good time to deliver a little Birthday cake to the room for him. Yummy!! And what a lovely and totally unsolicited gesture :) Another big tick in the box.

  6. Very pretty card! Love the contrast of the black with the pretty pink.
The pink layer looks like lace and is a nice foil to the black webbing.

    Len's cake is gorgeous!!!

I was quite sad when Lakelands stopped selling raft items. I used to like browsing that shelf when I visited.

Sorry not been around much this week, but I'm hiding up the back of the bike shed - you do not want to know what they are up to, I've heard whispers of a custard pie fight! Yeuck! Enjoy your time away Mr and Miss xx

  16. Huh, bet the house mouse hasn't saved a piece for the playgound, what a fab jesture thought, how observant of the guy to notice that, can tell he's not English.
When I saw the word 'sitting' I immediately thought 'on the dock of the Bay' and expected some exotic photo of you and Len under the board walk!?
Great idea, fab card. Love the jewels.

  19. Oh Happy Birthday Len! I hope you enjoyed that delicious looking cake! What a nice thing for your hotel to do & I'll bet he was surprised. Now to the lovely card: That says it all. Pure Lovely. Sheer genius to pair the laces in the 2 colors for drama behind your little fairy butterfly. So light, looks ready to lift off the card. Fancy having just the right pearls to embellish. TFS & Hugs
