A very quick card today, made for Hazel's Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge where the theme is 'seeing stars' this week - and also for her Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for May.
Hmmm, I spent ages looking for the perfect backing card in my goodies and found one with just the right shades of red and orange - then look what the camera did to it:
It only went and turned it pink! Sigh.
Anyhow, I used:
- A5 cream card stock with gold foiling around the edges
- the front of another upcycled Christmas card, sliced into three and popped onto gold mirri card
- red/orange backing card which I think is by Kanban, swirls and little stars
- a couple of strips of ribbon, one gold stripes and the other is red
- three shiny gold card candi dots
I'm gonna see if the light is better for another photo today, but I suspect it's one of those cases where the backing card won't wanna play!

Hello Di, I so know just what tricks the camera can play with colours - only too often a white base looks as though it has a pale pink glow about it - how does that happen!?!? Anyway, your card is lovely - the triptych is a great idea and the ribbon is lovely. Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteLove how you turned it into a tryptych...great idea. Must take a peek in my recycled card basket and see what I have left.
ReplyDeleteThe foil paper really set off the three strips of the image.
Goes perfect with that gold ribbon too!
this is beautiful and how cool to reuse an old card!!! :) so glad you linked up with CHNC Extra this month

Tee hee Di .. .. my camera does that too!!!
ReplyDeleteFabby up-cycling though and I love the gold touches.
Have a good day.
Love Jules xx
Love the background and can imagine it as red (why does the camera play such tricks?!) and I love the way you split the image card into three - must remember to do that when upcycling - makes it look much more professional - thanks for a lovely entry for both of my CHNC challenges - hope to see you again soon. x
ReplyDeleteFabulous card Di, love the image and papers. I have that paper too!

Yes maybe a nice sunny day would help. At least you are in the pink!!! x Jo
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card Di and the way you've sliced the original card into 3 before mounting looks incredible. Great upcycling - I'll have to remember that trick. x
ReplyDeleteIt can at times be hard to get that perfect picture but your card Di is totally stunning xx
ReplyDeleteYour card is so pretty (and your camera must know you love pink!). Loved that the flash hit the star and made it glow too! (more serendipity?!). You're doing wonderful things on this recycle effort. Gotta get myself back into the groove... Really liked this card a lot. TFS
ReplyDeleteDrives me mad when my camera messes with the colours!!
ReplyDeleteAnother great bit of upcycling and a fab card Di!
xx
Gosh this really looks to shine or should that be glossy, fabulous card, love the layout and the mirri card.
ReplyDeleteDon't suppose you know where I can get some pretty cheap mirri card as I need a load for a set of Christmas cards I am just starting on.

A great job of upcycling! Sometimes the camera just won't cooperate! Mine does the same thing.
