I got the idea from Helen, over at 'It's All Fiddle Fart'. She really does come up with some great ideas and I've followed her blog from waaay back before this blog was even thought about. I truly do think you should go and see what she gets up to.
A close up.
Just in case you need proof of how I started out making this card, sleeves were rolled up all ready for action :)
I used:
- 6" x 6" square cream card stock
- another piece of the same cream card stock, layered onto a square of SU's 'Always Artichoke' card stock
- a snippet of brown card, die cut using the totally fabulous Memory Box 'Arboscello Tree' die - it's 3.2" x 3.7" in size
- seven different coloured snippets of thin card (ha, that didn't make much of a dent in the ever-expanding snippets folder), all punched out with a small Tonic punch flower punch - approximately 1cm across
- seven different colours of sparkly 3mm gems
- a big dollop of patience/OCD
I adore this die - if you Google it there are tons of way to use it. I got carried away and really covered the lovely branches but less is as good or even better. Plain white on a sympathy card, a bit of glitter for Christmas, more than one to make a little copse of trees, the list goes on. I like the idea of leaving it plain and just drawing a little line with a single heart dangling from a branch.
OK, so this week's show and tell - which seemed to stream in at the end of the week:
And finally, Tara made this really amusing snippets card (could have been some of us last weekend girls!) - just look at the paper piecing! Great use of snippets.
I say it every week, and make no apologies either - each and every snippets make is gorgeous and I wish I had time to cover every single one. You can do your bit by going to last week's Mr Linky and having a little hop around.
And a big welcome to Max who played along for the first time this week too!
OK, drum roll - onto the draw for the lovely La Blanche stamp - and the winner is:
Scrappymo - aka Maureen
Again, it took me three goes to find someone who hadn't said no thank you. I do know that Mo said she loved this stamp so it's going to a good home!
Maybe this week's little prize will be no surprise -yup, it's an Arboscello Tree die of your very own. Maybe I'm inflicting my own taste on you at times 'cos often when I find something I love - two fall into my shopping basket! One for me and one for the snippets toy box:
The Playground is open all of this coming week, will close on
Saturday 27th April at noon UK time and Mr Linky is below as usual.
Just enter a snippets make into the Playground this week and I'll do a
draw after the Playground closes next Saturday.
As usual I am
asking for a snippets make please, maximum of three entries and please
say 'No thank you' in a comment if you wish to still play but not be a
winner of the die.
Enjoy the rest of the week! My back feels a lot better already, fingers crossed.

I'm so happy...I have a beaming smile on my face right now.
ReplyDeleteI just love this brand of stamps...they stamp a perfect image every time. I never have a problem with them...which is NOT something I can say about some of my other stamps!
The Littles will also have fun with this one... a certain young lady is so into nature and loves to colour "critters" and a certain young man now likes to colour beside her!
He even coloured a mermaid earlier today!!!
Thanks again Di...I did make some other cards this week but didn't have time to take pics and post them...gardening and life in general got in the way.
Hi Di, I love your tree! Just beautiful and so many snippets used!. I have this die and absolutely love it so I'll opt out of the draw thankyou :)
ReplyDeleteIt's nearly 11am on Sunday morning here and I thought I'd get my card posted before I go out into the sunshine to get some more weeding done. Have a great day :) Cathy x

My Oh My....spring has sprung in the playground. What a great card, and I'd say more than a dollop of patience. Well worth the effort I think. I have a tree die that I always wonder what to do with it...you gave some great ideas. Love the show and tell. The fairy in the jar is such fun. I think it would be something my granddaughter and I could make together.(not as fancy!) The card is lovely and the potted plant...oh my another glance into spring! Have a great week. I'm off to the big city to shop with the girls....ah, life is good!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh and Garters, Di, you will do anything to get out of ironing, won't you?! I've done a few baskets of flowers like this, but never a tree and the result is so beautiful!! I love that you've used such bright and happy rainbow colors!!
ReplyDeleteI will say no thank you again to your generous giftee, but only this time b/c I already have that amazing die. Now that you've tipped me off to my lucky streak tho, maybe next week I'll give you the go-ahead!

I love your gorgeous tree Di and what a brilliant way to use up tiny snippets. Great show and tell too - did Bubbles find that fairy in the playground?! Of course she did and now we'll all be there with our butterfly nets and jars terrorising the small folk! It's ok - I know they don't really exist although Pixies do of course! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteWell you've outdone yourself with your snippets this week - your flower covered tree is stunning! I'll have to dig my tree die out for a play :-)

What a beautiful tree! I love all the pretty flowers (and no pollen)! Hope you have a great week, Di!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely card Di, you must have some patience to stick on all your flowers and sparkles. & possibly some OCD when I see you pic with your neatly lined up flowers ready to go!
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous Di...Love all the flowers...a virtual blooming tree!
ReplyDeleteThat was a beilliant idea and should win a special prize for the best use of teensy snippets.
Love, love, LOVE the tree die! And all its darling little flowers. Did you have to have a special trip to the store to get more gems after that? LOL
ReplyDeleteSandra's stamped flowers are just amazing, aren't they? And Tara's stamp is the funniest and most appropriate I've seen in a while! Off to visit and find out where she got it. Thank you so much for sharing!

I'm back. Seems like feast or famine around here! And I wanted to feast my eyes on that beautiful tree again.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab idea Di! I don't have that die, sadly, but I'm wondering if I can do something similar with a stamp and my mahoosive pile of left overs/scraps/might need it one day/rejects. Thank you for the inspiration and for the challenge Di hugs Karen x
ReplyDeleteFull house from me this week....can you tell I want that die?!!

ReplyDeleteJust shows every last tiny scrap can be used!! Thanks for the inspiration!! Hugs Juls
Hi Di, that card must have been a labour of love ... and it's gorgeous too. I'd like a tree just like that growing in my garden :)
ReplyDeleteBelated congrats to Maureen on being drawn out of the hat this week - another reason to smile :)
Haven't really used up much in the way of snippets this week - one miserable strip of card is all that qualifies me popping in to play this week - I promise to do better next week.
Hugs, Elizabeth xx
