Recycle or use something free

....that's the current challenge over at Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge. So, I turned to Christmas cards from 2011 - such a hoarder here :(
Hmm, the lurex ribbon is gold and the card stock I used is cream, plus the greens are a perfect match , truly - must be the reflection of the snow bouncing back, how peculiar!

I used:

- 6" x 6" cream card stock

- image from a Christmas card, layered onto red and then gold card

- backing paper which I've had for years, think it originally came from Craft Creations

- red and gold ribbons from the ribbon box

And this is also being linked into Hazel's other challenge - it's run monthly and you have free rein so long as it's Christmas - Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra.

Don't forget - it's Rudolph Day over at Sarn's later this week too!

Oooer, I've been playing with the brayer here - got a lot of practise to get in yet but might even be brave enough to show my first result once it's been made into a card :)

They say more snow is on the way, we might escape this time but are just on the edge so, knowing our luck, there'll be more of the white stuff - sigh.

  3. Morning Di

A lovely card .. .. I haven't made any Christmas makes yet this year .. .. but Rudolph Day will no doubt remedy that LOL!!

"One" of my New Year Resolutions is to "not be such a hoarder" .. .. far too much clutter here!!

I loved watching Shaz's brayer video. She makes it look so easy. Might have to see if I have hoarded any glossy card LOL!!

    Have a good day Di.

    Love Jules xx

  6. They say that the camera never lies, but it's so annoying when it does and colours don't look like they do IRL - happens to me quite a bit. Your card is gorgeous - great use of recycling and just as well to be a hoarder- thanks for entering both of my CHNC challenges - hope to see you again soon. Oh, and looking forward to seeing the results of the brayering - you might just have prompted me to get mine out of the drawer! x

  11. LOL, I have some cards from earlier than 2011. It really confuses my daughters when they start looking through the Christmas card basket and reading the letters and notes. Maybe it's time to recycle! Your wreath looks beautiful even if the camera is playing tricks. Stay warm!

  12. A lovely card, Di - great recycling.

Photographing cards so that they look like they do in real life can be nigh impossible, especially if they have gold and glitter on them - though I like your snow reflection as an explanation :)

We have snow here but, sadly, it's not lying so no snow-covered garden for me to look out at yet :(

Take care and keep warm. Elizabeth xx

  13. Brilliant card, love the ribbon, everything gels so well.
Loads of snow here today, bin men didn't come, not seen sight of a postman and I am waiting for a parcel, not of flowers needless to say.
No snippets were harmed in the card I posted today.

  16. So glad you are using bits of cards from a couple of years ago - I keep mine ..... however, I also forget where I put them! I never change!

I love this little design, beautiful colours and great image.
