Teddies and toy soldiers

.....are really reminiscent of old style Christmas images. This week's theme over at Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge is 'monochrome' - so for a first card this is my offering:
As yesterday was a 'Domestic Goddess' day I could only grab five minutes to whip this card up and went for the safe option of black and white :)

I used:

- 6" x 6" square white card stock

- a silver edged piece of black card

- Kanban Christmas toppers from my goodies

- Craftwork Cards card candi

I hope to make something in shades of a single colour during the week, then I can enter it into both Hazel's challenge and Sarn's Rudolph Day challenge :)

Off out to have my hair chopped this morning - it's gonna be interesting to see properly again, fringe is currently like a curtain :)

And, we have sunshine too, enjoy - whoop, whoop!!

I think I will have a house full at some point today...Jo [as normal for a Monday],Amy and her three [to drop off her dress to wear at M's wedding ...it needs shortening!] and Michelle and the twins [to organise favour boxes and table bits!]......and I call this a day off!!! :-)

  2. Gorgeous card Di, love the monochrome look, that stamp is adorable and you are right it did remind me of christmas of old, before batteries were required for everything lol. Good luck with the haircut, i used to hate having mine cut till i changed to a new hairdresser and now get a head massage after the wash and feel so relaxed it is unreal, in fact I haven't chosen how she cuts my hair for years just say do whatever you want lol. Made your pasty's last night but with meat and had the highest praise l could receive-they were the best hubby had ever had, thanks for the recipe.

Enjoy the hairdressers today, take care xx

  6. Lovely old style image. I haven't quite got to grips with black Christmas cards, though I did make a few for challenges last year. Anyway, this one worked well but I will probably prefer a coloured one. Don't forget to post a picture of the haircut. Kate x

  8. See that's wot the problem wos you couldn't see the sun cos of yer fringe!!! Doesn't explain it all for us though. Love the bag of toys. Imediately made me think of the 'The Cracker' ballet. wish I could knock a card up that quick. Spent hours last night making a pigs ear of an anniversary card needed for Tuesday and took it apart again this morning and redid it. Just mowed the lawn and weeded a front border so in for 5 mins on the internet. Next job hack some of the ivy down off the side wall.
Praps that's why Iv'e not been seeing the sun. Hugs Mrs A.

  9. Lovely card there Di, as usual! I bet you will be glad to see what you are doing again with the fringe cut. Mine is desperate for a cut, but needs one about every four weeks! Expensive! All that stash I could be buying instead!!

  12. I always think that black and white cards need just a small touch of red somewhere. This is classic and elegant but I'm telling ya, just a smidge of red!
