When I showed my in-house critic the results he said 'Love them, very clean and simple. Less is more works'!! Ahem, for ages he's been saying that white backgrounds look too stark, and once I closed my mouth that was agape with shock, I now know he meant white backgrounds behind certain stamped images. And as for using CAS and LIM in his comments, I think that guy has been doing some blog-hopping on the quiet!
This is what I came up with, two cards with the matting card, sentiment stamp colour and ribbons switched:
I used:
- 6" square plain white cards
- Image - Hero Arts stamp from the Watercolour Petals set (fab set BTW!)
- Sentiment - Elzybells
- Blue and green backing card from my snippets (Yay!)
- Inks - Tsukineko Brilliance - Pearl Thyme and Mediterranean Blue
- Ribbons - from my stash
As I used snippets here, I'm entering this into Jules Crafty Snippets Challenge Week 34 - just in case I don't get round to making the other card I had in mind for this week!
It's p*ssing lashing it down with rain here today - nothing for it but to play some more, oh, and make the Victoria Sandwich cake I've been promising the Boss as a rainy day bit of indulgence. His kind comments yesterday deserve a reward!
If you're sneaking a peek at this whilst at work - your boss has just walked up behind you!! And don't fret 'cos you're as well off there as anywhere today, except your craft room I guess :)
Have a good day!
Di

Change is as good as a rest is it?....Please can I just rest? :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the clean simple design of these cards Di. Keep up the good work.
Hugs,

ps still playing the waiting game here.
Beautifully classy :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely cards and I see you've got two different colours going on in the stamping - were you experimenting with markers? After my experience with SU markers at the class yesterday, I came home and experimented with AquaMarkers and they worked! Apparently, you can use ProMarkers/Copics but they have alcohol in them which may damage rubber stamps - it's down to individual choice as to whether you want to take the chance or not. The new Fleximarkers might be okay - and they have the same brush tip as SU markers which is definitely better for applying the ink. However, already having the aquas means no need to buy the SU markers yet - so money saved to spend on the craft retreat I'm going to 10 days from now. BTW, huffing is mandatory when stamping with markers :) Hope this answers the question you put yesterday. Elizabeth x
ReplyDeletePS: DH enjoyed the pickle sausage bake and surprised that pickle tastes good hot!
I like these cards too Di and I am not a CAS person. I usually fill all my spaces, but somehow, when anyone else has them I like it!
ReplyDeleteNo long words today?
Sorry you have rain again. I am hunting for my raincoat to bring to UK. Haven't used it since I came to Spain. It rains so rarely here that you just stay in and wait for it to stop.

Whoopee Elizabeth - I've already got Aqua Markers here :) I used two different coloured Dewdrops stamps on these cards, the pointed end allows you to define the colours more carefully. Gonna give the AMs a go though. G lad to hear your DH enjoyed the sausage and pickle bean bake!
ReplyDeleteNo long word today Kate, I kept everything pared down :) Let's hope the rain goes away for your trip to the UK!

Mmmm I'm coming round if there's Victoria sandwich on the menu. May just have to go and do a bit of baking myself, you've made my mouth water.
ReplyDeleteDH is definitely right about these gorgeous cards. I think LIM cards are definitely becoming more popular than lots of fuss aren't they. It's funny when Hubbys come out with these phrases isn't it, shows they listen to us sometimes!!
Hugs Lisax
Hi Di, truly another lovely card great layout and fabulous colour:) Sandra H
ReplyDeleteWow, this is stunning! Your hubby's comments are too funny! I guess they know what they like when they see it. Who couldn't like this one? Thanks for re-reading my post. I needed to go back and fix a line, I don't know what happened to it. My hubby wanted to read what I was writing and I remember him saying something about a word not needing a capital. I wonder if when he changed it, he messed up the one line? Probably!!!
ReplyDeletehaha - you sussed me - (am sneaking a peak from work - shock horror!!) I love these cards - keep them coming Hunny x x x
ReplyDeleteLovely cards. Love the flower stamp and great colours :o) Lisa x
ReplyDeleteI made Moccachino slices yesterday - I can recommend them!
ReplyDeleteI love your cards - fresh and really pretty.
Well I am stunned, my Hubby takes no interest in my cards at all, how the heck has he picked up the jargon, you are very lucky.
ReplyDeleteThese are two really lovely cards and work extreemly well in both colourways. I love them, very CAS and LIM to quote a certain Gentleman.

Victoria sandwich cake, Moccachino slices OMG You ladies have my mouth watering!
ReplyDeleteDi your cards are beautiful! I love the design! I find CAS cards nearly as difficult as masculine cards. I have a tendency toward fussy.
