The little girl next door, called Gabriella, isn't yet seven and she coloured this for us. How sweet is that?
The piece of paper was badly crumpled from the effort of posting so the following day I carefully ironed it between a couple of sheets of paper, adhered it to a piece of card, popped it into a document holder and then stuck it to the inside of one of the front bedroom windows.
There was a note, also crumpled, which I also ironed as flat as I could:
It says - literally:
'To Len dy and duley hope you are oll OK and hope you have a lovely day here is a rainbow for you since you have not got one oredy love from your nabers Gabriella and Teddy'.
What to do? I messaged her Mum and she liked my suggestion so I stamped quite a few images for her to colour and also added a packet of unused crayons and quite a few plain and twinkly felt tipped pens. Apparently Gabriella fell upon the sparkly felt tipped pens and began colouring right away!
My next batch of images for Gabriella (and now one of her brothers) to colour is already under way - along with some using pigment ink which can be water coloured as a change. Keeps me out of mischief :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous story, Di, and I love that you now have your very own rainbow! What a sweet gift you sent in return. I know the children have to have more than just moments of boredom. I'm watching it happen with my own grandson and he's one of the best I know at self-entertaining.

Aww how cute of them to do this for you,Len and Dudley l haven’t coloured for ages but with lockdown l copied the NHS Hero poster with the rainbow 🌈 l coloured it and it’s taken place on my front window along with many others dispelling them stay safe 😘

ReplyDeleteIn Finland people have been putting teddy bears on their windows for children to spot them while walking by -- and of course it is now on social media also so if you spot a teddy bear or put one one your windows you can post about it by using #teddybearchallenge (well, of course the Finnish version of the words :)

They were Sister and Brother and it was a sort of pop up card and they had written "We hope this makes you smile" Well it did, but it made me thing "do I look like a miserable old woman. It has gone in our window though and I will send my entry to SS to them, if I can find where I have put the bl---- thing. How can you lose a card?

ReplyDeleteOh what a wonderful little 'naber' you have Dy. That is such a lovely rainbow and it was so nice that she cared about you. Great idea for you to give her images to colour. Last time we went to Oz I took stamped and die-cut images as well as some die-cut shapes (foam, card, glitter card, etc) for Asher to use to make cards, pictures and things. Hope you're keeping safe and well xx

ReplyDeleteI see at my children that they are being melancholic sometimes because we have a strict quarantine here (we are next to Italy) and we draw and colour together a lot - it is a family therapy. I am so happy that many artist are giving away their incredible drawings for free to color during these hard times.

Omygosh!! How sweet is that??! Those little ones are so caring and confused at the same time right now with all of this. Pandemic business. It’s so awesome that their peers, teachers, family and loved ones are showing them that compassion and spreading cheer is a way of life right now! I remember colouring the line drawings in my Milly Molly Mandy book, for which I was ticked off, but they were just asking to be coloured. I still have the book. 😄
