Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #411 - Ruby's Memory

Our wee Ruby 2005-2020

Hello again - thanks for calling by! It's time for another snippets challenge dedicated to dear sweet Ruby's Memory, in aid of the centre who originally rescued her, and this is our sixth one.

The prize for this challenge has been kindly offered by Heather Mills with a few extras added by yours truly:

This super selection contains all things Halloween - stickers, purple sparkly ribbon, spooky embellishments, alphabet stickers, Halloween coloured sequins, sparkle dust, washi tape, Echo Park 'I love Halloween' paper pad, Taylored Expressions 'Boo to You' sentiments stamp set and a 'Sweet November Hazel & Webster' stamp. Oopsie, I left the sequins and sparkle dust out of the top photo - and also forgot to cover up the price of the cute little stamp.

It will reach the winner in plenty of time for Halloween I promise.

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 18th September. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.

It's a maximum of ONE entry, please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.

Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you want to be in the draw in a comment on here, then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' on the blog post itself - just in case you're only playing for fun - otherwise I don't add you to my little list. And I won't be splitting the prize of course.

Please also remember that I only allow a total of nine other challenges, which makes 10 in total, when you enter a snippets make into the Playground.

Huge apologies being so behind with commenting on Challenge #410. Also, I haven't yet managed to package and post the three 'Oddball Bunny' stamp prizes either. I'll email the winners once they're on the way.

All because I took a bit of a tumble one evening earlier this week, which ended up hours later in us having to have an ambulance call out to get me back up off the floor using an amazing inflatable seat thingy as well as to check me over. Oh the shame of it! Agonising shoulder pains as well as dodgy legs do not make one a floor gymnast - and certainly not able to hoist oneself back up from a flat floor, or even take the pain of being hauled up, trust me we tried! It's shaken both of us up and the rest of the week has just flown by. Even having a shower had me almost trembling in fear that it might happen again, although I know it was just my own clumsiness getting up from a sofa awkwardly. Hey ho - getting older ain't for wimps, we've now ordered the same inflating seat thingy 'just in case'. Thankfully am just a bit battered and bruised although for some reason still not firing on all cylinders mentally - not much new there then.

Have a good week! And be careful when standing up ☺

Lots of love from us all - Parsnip, Dudley and of course me,

  1. How lovely of Heather to donate the super prize, but as I do not really make Halloween cards I will say 'no thanks' and I know there will be lots who will make great use of this wonderful selection of goodies. So sorry to hear about your tumble Di and it must have been really frustrating for you having to stay there until they could come to help you up with their clever inflatable contraption. Glad that you didn't sustain any lasting damage and a great idea to buy one of these inflatable seats yourself as a 'just in case' and hope you are soon feeling less bruised and battered. x

  3. Sorry to hear you took a spill. Talk about adding insult to injury. Ugh!

Thank you to you and Heather for the prizes offered.

Yes, please, for the prize. Thank you. [Bunny]

  4. YES PLEASE to the fun Halloween prize! As my granddaughter was born on halloween, we always celebrate both holidays in a big way. My favorite part, of course, is the candy...and I skip the costumes and tomfoolery.

Oh my goodness Di, how frightening to have fallen. I'm so glad you didn't break a bone or hit your head and knock yourself out. I find myself paying special attention whenever I walk up and down the stairs...or in the dark. I know you also have stairs, and that Dudley often parks himself at the head of them, so am thankful that you didn't tumble anywhere near them.

Ah yes, getting older involves a lot of adjustments and is certainly not for the weak! Take care, as I'm sure you must have bruises and bumps. Oh, and you might think about a shower chair for extra safety too. Sending healing thoughts your way in the meantime.

  6. Another super prize, I hope to play, but just for fun. I’m not surprised you’re tender inside and out, what a shock, and I’m sure the paramedics were only too happy to help. I didn’t know there was an inflatable thingy! My Dad was always falling and waiting hours for an ambulance. If you find a name for it please do share, I’m sure it’ll be handy for lots of us! Take it easy and don’t worry about the small things xxx

  7. A wonderful prize for anyone who loves all thing Halloween. So sorry to hear about your fall and how annoying to have to lie on the floor to await assistance in getting up again. They say old age doesn't come alone but in my book it beats the alternative!! Take care and I'm sure everyone understands if you are a bit late in commenting. Hugs.

  8. Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad fall, hope you’ll soon make a full recovery. That inflatable thingy sounds a good thing to have ‘just in case‘, but don’t go falling over again just to try it out! 😉. Thanks to Heather and you for the super prize, I’ll be a Yes please this time. xx

  9. Oh Di - I feel your pain - falling is not for wimps, I agree... don't ask me how I know. Hope you recover fully very soon.
    Gentle cyber {{{{{hugs}}}}}
    Stay safe, and upright

  10. Oh my Di, how ever did that happen, you must be shaken and I imagine most bones in your body ache. The Ambulance guys used one of those inflatables to hoist my Dad when he fell, he talked about the genius of it for weeks. Not surprised your not firing on all cylinders, as we get old it doesn't take much to put us off kilter.

Rest and more rest and don't try and do all those things you know really shouldn't.

    B x

  11. So sorry to hear about your accident Di, we take our agility for granted when we are young and it comes as a shock to realise that the passage of time makes things a little more awkward for us. Good idea to get one of the inflatable things to keep at home just in case. You will need to take it easy for a little while to make sure you are fully over it. xoxo

  12. Oh dear, so sorry to hear all that. I hope you are feeling better today and back to normal very soon. It sounds horrible and would definitely make you wary of it happening again. Fingers crossed you stay on your own two feet and don't need to use your new inflatable. Great idea to have it though. xxx

  13. I'm back again with my card - playing for fun because I don't have a use for much Halloween 'stuff' so more chances for those who would love to win.

  14. What an awesome prize! THANK YOU! I will definitely be playing :)... OH DI! I am soooo sorry about your fall! Glad you are on the mend! Hopefully snuggling Dudley helps!

  15. Oh no, hope you're ok Di and no lasting hurt to your shoulder!! I'd say that was a shock for sure ☹️
Thank you to lovely Heather (and to your lovely self) for the fab prize xx

  16. Playing for the prize this month. I make cute Halloween cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids. I used most of what I had on hand this year so would really like some new supplies. I always enjoy opening your blog post about Ruby's memory. That face is so adorable. So sorry you took a tumble but am sort of chuckling about the "amazing inflatable seat thingy". That sound like a good thing to have on hand. Glad you are not hurt worse and wishing you a quick recovery.

  17. Oh Di, that's terrible that you fell getting up off the sofa, truly freaky accidents! I didn't know there was an inflatable seat thingy to get one up off the floor. I need myself one of those!!! Just had a tumble last weekend myself. Glad I was halfway down to the ground when I was knocked over or it could been bad, but in any case, the leg/knee wasn't strong enough to just get up, so had to have my granddaughter will a patio chair over so I could get up. I will definitely have to look up one of those inflatable things. So happy you weren't hurt!!! Nice Ruby prize! Big gentle hugs to you and the "kids". Brenda

  18. Poor you Di. I haven't yet found any wonderful things of getting old. At least you don't have to pay for medication!! So take it easy and rest when needed. Big hugs, Carol S.xxxx

  19. Oh my Di, I'm so sorry for your new accident!!! Please be careful and get well very soon!
Very generous by Heather Mills giving away all those items as Ruby's Memory Challenge prize!

  20. Oh, you poor thing. I'm sure you and Len were really worried, but sounds like you escaped with just fairly minor bumps and bruises. I wonder what Dudley thought about you laying there on the floor for so long. Too bad he isn't a rescue dog!!
Yes please to this really fun prize. We love Halloween here at our house and decorate everything, as well as make cards and favor bags.
    Get better soon...hugs to you.

I'm just playing for fun this time

  22. So sorry to read about your fall. Do take care and thank goodness you got the lift chair. Had me looking into one now for the MIL! I will be back with an entry but just for fun.

  23. I'm so sorry you've had a fall that required assistance in getting up! I'd never heard of those inflatable seats but now I may have to investigate too! I got down and sat on the floor last year to play with my neighbor's new puppy, and when they left I realized I was unable to get back up again! I scooted across the floor on my butt to the basement door where I dropped my legs down a few steps, grabbed the railing and was able to hoist myself back up again! LOL You are SO right about this aging thing not being for wimps! Every day brings a new challenge! Do take care of that shoulder and get all the rest you need! Just playing for fun this week, but what a nice prize package! Thanks for everything!

  26. First time participating here, although I have visited before! I am entering to play in the draw! It's a wonderful prize!
Sorry to hear about your fall. I had a bit of a mishap myself and am limping about these days, although my foot is on the mend!
I wanted to mention that my snippets that I used on my card were trimmed off pieces to square up a frame around a die cut. I rather liked the way they looked all lined up and incorporated that onto my card!

  27. What an absolutely lovely prize! So generous! I would love to receive this prize!

Sorry to hear about your fall but wishing you a quick recovery!

  29. Oh my goodness Di, I am so sorry to hear about your tumble. It sounds like a horrible fall, never mind the indignity of it, but helping is what those lovely ambulance folk do so well and I'm glad they were able to do so. I expect Dudley tried to help too... but perhaps not quite as expertly :/ By the way, I think you should be on commission for those inflatable thingies!

What a wonderful halloween prize from Heather and you but I will sit out the draw this time. Sending hugs and hoping you are on the mend, Vicky xx

  31. Hi Di

So sorry to read about your fall. That must have been really frightening.

I have seen that inflatable gadget on a TV programme.. .. a really great idea and much better than being "manhandled back to an upright position.

I am not surprised it has knocked your confidence though.

    Please take it easy.

My Mum and my Uncle have both told me not to sign up to getting old .. .. apparently it isn't all it is cracked up to be!!

    Love and hugs
    Jules xx

  32. Dear Di, so sorry to hear about your fall. I really hope you're recovering from your fall well. We just have to be so careful. The donated prize for this challenge is super. Very generous of Heather. I'd love to have a chance to win. Stay safe and look after yourself. :)

  33. Hello Diane and Snippets Friends! I don't like to hear that you fell, Di. We've gotta be careful not to take those little tumbles (I don't know about you, but as I've aged; some of those falls can be really painful). I also want to remember sweet Ruby. I don't look forward to the day we must say goodbye to our dear little Belle (as we had to do with our first Miniature Schnauzer). Anyway...I can't even imagine that Mr. Linky/Random.org would pull my name again this soon; but if it should happen, I'd take these awesome goodies in a heartbeat. Thanks again for a fun challenge where we can use our scraps and snippets.

  45. Oh my gosh, I am so very sorry to hear of your tumble, I agree the getting old thing is not for the weak, ask me how I know!! I will say yes please to the prize draw, I for one love making Halloween cards and wanted to add, your little Dudley pup is so precious, someone offered me $1000 for my dog, how insulting, I wouldn't take a million bucks for him , that would be like selling my child!!! I'll be back tomorrow to enter my card!

  48. Oh no--how scary & painful! I've got myself almost tripping several times lately & keep reminding myself to be careful & no rushing! Old age is not for whimps--that's for sure! So glad you weren't more seriously hurt. Can only imagine what Dudley must have thought, being he is so tuned in to you guys! Such a fun prize for Ruby's Memory this time. I'd like my name in the draw, if I get my post written in time to enter.

  52. Sorry to hear about your fall Di, but as I'm quite late with my card, I hope you are recovering well by now. It's a super prize on offer, but I will play just for fun this time and I don't tend to make Halloween cards. Have a good week and take care x

  53. I've been busy making Halloween cards and treat bags & boxes - yes, please, to this extremely generous prize!! Hope you are doing well, Di!!! hugs, Becca

  54. Just playing for fun as I don't make Halloween cards (but it's a super prize for those who do). Di, I hope you're getting over the fall - that is quite the story (and I've never heard of the inflatable seat thingy - amazing!). Balance seems to become more and more of an issue as we age. A good reminder to all of us to be careful!

  55. Wishing you a speedy recovery, this can happen so quickly, uf ...
yes for the great prize. thank you both - you and Heather!
    Take care.

  56. Goodness, I hope you've recovered from that nasty fall. I can understand why you'd be hesitant to make any move after that.
I do think the prize is adorable and I could find ways to use some of those papers, but since I don't really make Halloween cards I'm passing on the prize so it will go to someone who will use everything.
