Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #395

First of all, many thanks to those of you who have already signed up to be Guest Designers, have very generously sent prizes for Ruby's Memory Challenge - and also those of you who played along with Challenge 394 where Jane was our Guest Designer. The cassette tape certainly brought back a few memories! The Guest Designer list is still open and any new and unwanted items for Ruby's Challenge are also always very welcome.

This fortnight it's my turn to be my own Guest Designer (snigger) and I aim to do this for every other challenge - interspersed with Guest Designer fortnights as well as Ruby's Memory Challenge.

The basic Snippets Playground rules are just the same so we should move seamlessly from one type of challenge to another and back again without you really noticing much different.

So here's my snippets card for this fortnight and it's one that I've been itching to make for a little while now:
I used:

- 5.5" x 4.25" black card blank, tent style

- snippet of white card onto which I stamped the main image using Memento 'Tuxedo Black'  and the Misti. The stamp is from the Stamping Bella 'Oddball with Martini' set

- then coloured the image using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and a Derwent blending pencil

- die cut the image using the matching die

- stamped the sentiment using the other stamp in the same set, again using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' and another snippet of white card

- snipped the sentiment into pieces (following a design on the Stamping Bella Blog where there are lots of ideas, I just chose one which would fit nicely onto the snippet of patterned paper I wanted to use up)

- slightly trimmed a snippet of gold spotted paper which was tucked into the back of my Studio Calico's 'Snippet Collection' paper pad and glued it onto the card front

- added a little bit of grey shadow to where the 'Oddball' was going to stand, to 'ground her' slightly  and then glued her in place

- followed by the snipped up sentiment words, which I just did fairly roughly - and called it done!

I made the card with a friend's Birthday firmly in mind but, due to keeping well hunkered down here, it didn't get written and posted - hope you had a lovely day my friend! x

Here's a photo of the prize for this fortnight:

It's a 'Stamping Bella 'Oddball with Martini' stamp set plus the matching die to cut out the main image. The sentiment doesn't need to be snipped up of course and you could stamp the 'Oddball' straight onto a plain card front without using the die. Lots of options!

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 6th February. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.

It's a maximum of ONE entry, please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.

Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you want to be in the draw in a comment on here, then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' on the blog post itself - just in case you're only playing for fun - otherwise I don't add you to my little list.

Please also remember that I only allow a total of nine other challenges, which makes 10 in total, when you enter a snippets make into the Playground. From now on I will delete entries which break this 'rule'. I'm a soft touch and have been as lenient as possible up until now so please don't forget - else your entry will just disappear in a puff of smoke with no reminder.

The results of the Grand Draw were published last Sunday (17th January) and thank you to all of you who have claimed your prizes and sent me your address.

I'll put a post on here when they've been posted as that's easier for me than emailing you all separately. Perhaps more than one post as they will probably go off to UK winners first then Overseas winners shortly afterwards - as and when I feel it's OK to venture out. Don't fret, I won't do anything daft (or let's say dafter than usual!). I'm watching things very closely here - our local area is now above the national average infection rate for this wretched virus. Sigh.

Dudley's latest role in life seems to be 'care giver'. The other morning I was sat in bed about to get my lazy rear end into gear and suddenly had a terrific sneezing bout right out of the blue. Dudley literally leapt up onto the bed and almost wrapped his paws round me whilst nuzzling me, whining and looking very anxious. Dudley was the one whining, not me - gonna buy him a nurses outfit I think! Betcha don't get fluffy hugs and nuzzles on the NHS!

I'd like to enter this card into Darnell's NBUS Challenge #22 HERE. I resisted entering all the snippets samples I made for the Grand Draw, which would have been nine NBUS entries in total!  Darnell only went and broke a bone in her back fairly recently (ouch!) - get well soon Darnell and much love from all of us in the Playground.

Stay safe and be kind. Right now some of our lovely Playmates, as well as Darnell, need our love and thoughts more than ever. Please remember, we all care about one another in the Playground and if one of us hurts then we all hurt for you.

Lots of love from us all - Parsnip, Dudley and of course me.

  2. Oh my, that’s a hilarious stamp, where do you find these gems?! Beautifully coloured, and love how you chopped up the sentiment, it adds to the oddball effect. So it’s a yes please from me. Hope Darnell heals quick smart, and lovely words you have used, that’s what I love about your caring sharing Playground. Healing thoughts to all those suffering. Nurse Dudley must have been so worried about you, such a cutie xxx

  3. I've seen this sentiment before and it makes me laugh every time. Although I'm not a drinker, I have several friends who would appreciate this image a LOT! Yes please to this hilarious stamp set.
Your story about Dudley grabbing hold of you when you started sneezing made me wonder if he was practicing the Heimlich maneuver on you, haha! The only thing Toby has ever done when I've suddenly sneezed near him was startle and then stare at me as he prepares to leave the vicinity!

  4. This is a really fun image and a super card. Just playing for fun this time around.

  14. Oh that sweet little Dudley! Your card is such a kick! Leave me out of the drawing, please. The virus is so scary & don't know if we'll even get our first shots next month. Thinking we need to double mask now that the variant is in our state. We only go inside one store & that's when it isn't crowded, but may not be safe now. Glad you guys have stayed healthy--keep it up!

  18. Your card is just perfect, especially for today's times! Those stamping Bella images are all hilarious! I find dogs are so special in the way they care for us, and Dudley is just precious. I'm so glad he watches over you in his own special way! Playing just for fun this time around, but whoever wins this will have fun with it for sure! Take care

  20. I've been gone for to long and it seems there have been some changes. Good ones though! Your card is adorable and makes me smile Di! That image just cracks me up and we all need some laughs with the currant situation all over the world. Here we were hoping things would be a bit better by now but it only seems to be worse and now we have to contend with new strains of this virus as well. So thank you for this cutie card! A smile is what I needed and I'm sure other's needed it too. I had to laugh at Dudley and his nursing skills. When I sneeze, Maverick comes jumping up (he is like a bull in a china shop!) and gets in my face to see if I'm ok. So funny they are. Yes, we all care about one another and if one of us hurts when we all hurt. My prayers have been going up for Auntie since I learned of her back break. Stay well, stay healthy, Hugs, Brenda

  28. Your card is hilarious, Di. Great sentiment and super coloring. Playing Just for Fun this time.
How sweet of Dudley to be concerned for you during your sneezing fit. My cats would probably hold a pillow over my face in my sleep if they weren't so concerned abt being fed in the morning!! lol...
Thank you for another fun challenge!
    Stay healthy and creative!!

  29. Thank you for the shoutout, sweet Di, so I have even more lovely friends praying for me. It is very much appreciated! I loved reading about how Dudley jumped to your aid during your sneezing fit! They might be little, but they are amazing and caring protectors! Of course, you know how much I love your alcoholic and amusing snippets card! What a hoot! I had to hold my core to keep from hurting myself with giggles! (BTW, the good news is that I got my first shot yesterday! No side effects except for a bit of soreness which Tylenol fixed. I hope you guys get yours soon!) Keep safe. Love and hugs, Darnell

  30. A great card and sentiment Di. I will be a yes please for this one.
Dudley is so sweet! One of ours put his arms around hubby's neck, but that's because he likes licking his bald head :). Have a good week xx

  31. Happy New Year, well first visit to you this year. Good little Dudley and a cuddle with will have given you the perfect reason to delay getting up just a little longer. When I'm going to sneeze there must be a tell because Harley cat jumps up and runs away. Sneezing is scary he tells me that cat is such a woose. Much as I loe your boozy prize this time I will pass it needs to go to a home where it will get lots of use! Take care, keep well and have fun x

  32. This card made me chuckle Di. It certainly wasn't too much salad she's been having!! It's a great stamp but I'm just playing along for fun this fortnight.

Dear Dudley is a sweetheart! Eva does the same when any of us sneeze - I'm certain she doesn't think we're capable of looking after ourselves! Vicky xx

  47. That sentiment is so funny. There's a billboard on Interstate 75 for the town of Dalton, Georgia, that uses it to advertise the local restaurants.
My card is another one inspired by Mrs. A and the Butterfly Challenge -- the current technique is another excellent one for snippets.
Just playing for fun this time.
