Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #372

Really quick post this time - running late here.

This is my snippets card for this fortnight - it's an Easter card, although I send very few of those out:
I used:

- 5" x 4" white card blank, tent style

- snippet of SU's 'Wisteria Wonder' card stock, trimmed to an eighth of an inch all round smaller than the card front and adhered it on top

- snippet of plain white card and leftover snippet strips of paper from Pink Petticoat's 'Wild Blossoms' collection paper pad

- then adhered the strips diagonally across the snippet of white card using a small tape runner for speed, trimmed it to an eighth of an inch all round smaller than the 'Wisteria Wonder' layer and adhered it on top

- then stamped the chicks and little Easter eggs onto snippets of white card stock using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and stamps from the Clearly Besotted 'Chirpy Chicks' set of stamps

- coloured all the images using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and then die cut them using the matching set of 'Chirpy Chicks' dies

- trimmed a snippet of white card and added the sentiment to the background panel using a dear little sentiment by 'Stamping All Day' - more about them below - and Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink

- used a couple of green Polychromos pencils to flick in some grass along the bottom of the image panel then layered it onto a trimmed snippet of 'Wild Wisteria' card stock and adhered that to the card front

- added the little chicks and Easter eggs, using very thin sticky pad snippets

- not perfect but at least finished, and just in time as well! 1:30 pm on Saturday afternoon - phew

I've written here before about 'Stamping All Day' and the lovely clear polymer sentiment stamps they produce. They're very varied and really good quality - also a UK based online store and it's always good to support smaller businesses. They come just with a backing of acetate per stamp - I always stamp the sentiment onto a snippet of white card or paper, write the name on and then pop them into individual little poly bags. It saves buying a full set of sentiments just for one stamp you might use and of course they're really cost effective. Go check them out! And I have no affiliation with them - I just like to see small businesses prosper. Lots of their sentiments are absolutely perfect to use with Clearly Besotted stamps if they don't happen to include exactly what you want. For example, the Clearly Besotted 'Chirpy Chicks' set is so perfect for Easter yet, although it does have some lovely sentiment stamps included, no specific Easter sentiment.

And here's the prize for this fortnight:
It's a set of Clearly Besotted 'Chirpy Chicks' stamps with matching dies. Plus, a little Happy Easter stamp by 'Stamping All Day' the same as the one I used. For once, a prize is timed far enough in advance of the event! The Happy Easter sentiment stamp isn't included in the photo but it's on its way here, I've had mine for ages and only thought to order one for the prize at the last minute!

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 7th March. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day.

It's a maximum of ONE entry, please say in a comment if you wish to play and be a possible winner of the prize. Please also link back to the Playground in your blog post to be eligible for the draw.

Remember, if you link into the Playground and don't say clearly that you want to be in the draw in a comment on here, then you will be bypassed if your name comes out of Mr Linky. I'm sure you all know I ask for a positive 'yes' on the blog post itself - just in case you're only playing for fun - otherwise I don't add you to my little list.

I was so pleased to see that you agreed a bit of tightening up the rules and I only had to gently remind a couple of people to make sure they said what snippets they'd used as well as including the link to the Playground Challenge in their own blog post. And one sweet player 'fessed up right away upon realising they had entered well over the number of challenges I allow with their snippets make. It will take just a little time until it all becomes second nature to everyone and, numbers are still very healthy so it doesn't seem to have scared anyone away.

Our news here:

Everything survived the storms, thankfully. The eye has settled back down, also thankfully. And my shoulder is still on the mend but slowly getting better all the time. I must have given it a jolly good wrench!

Dudley is doing well, possibly still a little more anxious about some things than we'd like, but time will tell.

The big news is that Spike the Hedgehog is back in town! Our CCTV picked him up at least two nights this past week - so the Hedgie Feeding Station is all primed ready for the family to descend.

And this coming week (Tuesday 25th) sees the start of February's Rudolph Days challenge over at Scrappy Mo's. It runs until the end of the month - which is the 29th this year so be sure to make your entry early. Ha, I have a batch of 12 Christmas cards all cut out etc. and lined up ready to assemble at some point soon so I can enter during this coming week.

Lots of love from us all - Parsnip, Dudley (as near as can be to being back on form and bouncing around like a Spring lamb) and of course me,

  6. Glad everything is on the mend and you survived the storm, although we've woken up to very strong winds and rain again. The walk out on the Marsh was lovely the walk back was hard work and Stanley just tried to hide behind me lol. Will look forward to see the Hedgehogs.

  22. I'm so glad that you are all doing better and that the hedgies are back in town...woot woot! Yes please to this adorable stamp and die set. The expression on that one chickie's face is hilarious and reminds me of my 1 year old son when he eats something yummy. He squints his eyes up just like that.
Thanks also for explaining the rules to us all because I think I may have skipped over reading some of the details in the past. I love your challenges and think the rules are more than fair.
Keep taking care of that shoulder, and of sweet Dudley!

  23. Good news all around with your post, Di. So glad you weathered the storm and that the eyes are better. Take very good care of that shoulder. I realize now that I likely should have had surgery on mine at the time of my fall last May. Ugh. It's so easy to re-injure when any part of us is compromised...so do be very careful.

Very glad that Dudley is near back to running full throttle!! :) Oh, and the hedgies....so happy they are back. Much better than what has graced us this evening: I think a skunk "discharged" under the house. Oh, my....oh, my!!! :o :o :o

Love your adorable chickie card with the gentle spring colors. So sweet. Yes, please, to the prize drawing!! Thanks for your kind generosity and for all the fun!!

Hurt my back last weekend on my alpine skis and now I am not able to sit down at all or being able to do any crafting either :/ Hope the situation will get better so that I can participate the fun here at Playground.

Yes, please. If I already left a message just chalk it up to old age. And I'm not even that old yet. Am I? Maybe I am.

  35. What a fun background and great way to use up those little scraps and snippets Di. I made two cards the other day and ended up with random strips of paper. Being the frugal crafter that I am, I didn't toss those paper strips...so now I'm motivated to turn them into a card background!
Yes please to this fun stamp set. I love that the set doesn't have to be used just for Easter.

I'm so glad that Dudley is nearly back to his usual self and hope that your eye problems and shoulder continue to improve. You've been through the wringer lately and deserve some sunnier days!

Off to dig out those paper scraps and see what I can put together. You've gotten me inspired in a major way now!

  36. Hi Di, cute cute cute Easter card and a lovely prize for the month (but I will leave my name off thanks). Glad to read you are on the mend in all aspects... slow and steady as we get older hey! I think it's wonderful you have a hedgehog family who visit - we don't have them in Australia, but I did see a slithery green tree snake swing by my garden the other week - I don't like snakes, but I'm assured that trees snakes are fine - he's been around for years. Take care and hi to Dudley (ps I'm not sure who Parsnip is?), hi anyway and hugs Robyn

  38. Hi dear Di, well so glad things on the up, with you all, esp your eye that had me concerned, quickly acting helped, and the shoulder does come good, I’ve issues with my right one but to be honest each year that passes just means another issue added to list, I’ve test coming up next week, hopefully some answers would be nice. Praying re Dudley to be bubbly Dudley again.. and restore his puppy trust in folks again.
Lovely snippets card, well done, I’m rushed tonight too. Must go! No thanks to cuties, no call for them here.. too many cuties not sued already! Shame on me!
Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too.

  42. What an adorable card - it's a yes please from me too, to going into the hat. Hope Spike will be OK, it seems a bit early to be coming out of hibernation, we could still get some very cold weather. We seem to have had weeks of this wet and windy weather, but it's been relatively mild in terms of temperature and a lot of plants and animals are getting confused by it.

If I recall correctly one of the updated rules was about not linking up too much later than the blog post has gone live. I hope it's within the limits that I linked up some hours after my post went live - the link to this challenge was there right from the start. I often have posts scheduled that go live during my work day (e.g. for Design Teams) and I can't link them to the challenges until I get home. (There have been a couple of times that it ends up being the following day, depending how busy I end up being, but I usually try to get it done in the evening.) I hope that's okay!

  51. Yes please to the prize, Di. It's lovely to hear Dudley is well on the mend now, and looking as handsome as ever. Please give both him and Parsnip a cuddle from me
