Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #337 - results

We got through Halloween fine. Dudley met some new weirdly dressed people who called for trick or treat and wasn't fazed at all by all the activity of groups comming to the front door. A couple of fireworks went off in the distance and he was OK with that - it's Monday 5th November which will be the test, as well as the big organised display at our local community centre on Saturday 3rd! In fact the whole flipping weekend really. Obviously we'll be at home and plan to find a film or three to watch and turn the volume up - if we have 'Hanvaneed' to (see what I just did there?). In fact, I don't think we'll be out of the fireworks season now until after the New Year - fingers crossed he's OK!

Anyhow, let's get straight on with the fortnightly picks. This time I've picked out some ideas which you also might want to have a go at in order to use up some of those pesky small snippets and also some snippet strips.

First of all, we have a *Gold Star* pick:
Once again, Nicky caught my eye with this super 'tumbling numbers' card! That's three times I've chosen Nicky from our recent challenges but each one has been so worth being a pick for ingenuity and of course clever use of snippets! I just made a card using a previous idea of Nicky's and this latest one is now on my list of ones to try here.

I think you'll all agree for consistency that Nicky really does deserve a *Gold Star*! There's a badge on my right hand sidebar Nicky if you would like to take it for your blog. No offence if you don't - but it just means you won't get two of Parsnip's mince pies at the Christmas Party, snigger.

Again, no apologies for choosing Carol L again - this is a fabulous gift card holder, for more detail do hop on over to Carol's blog HERE. You can see the inside and how neatly it will hold a gift card - I first saw this gift card holder idea when Sarn made one a long time ago and it's lovely to be reminded again.

Marianne scampered into the Playground to share this really great idea for making Christmas tree cards using up little snippet strips. The papers don't even need to be specifically Christmas ones to get a lovely effect! Another idea I'll be trying out.

And last, but not least of the picks, Kathy A shared this great idea - also using up lots of little snippet strips by interweaving them - you can read exactly how over on Kathy's blog HERE. Another inspiring way to use up snippets!

We had no new Playmates joining us this time and we had a total of 50 entries once again.

Now it's prize draw time, and our winner of the Paper Smooches 'Birthday Words' die set (comprising 'celebrate', 'cheers' and 'Happy Birthday') plus The Works ' 10 Piece Numbered Candles' set of dies is:

Well done Sachi - I'm almost sure this is your first win, and you do play just about every time, along with Karen, so it was well due! And, I know you have little ones of your own so those number candles might come in handy.

Do please send me your address, with full name at the top as well so I can copy and paste or just write straight from the email onto the envelope - for speed and ease. I don't keep addresses of previous winners, even if they might be in my private address list - if that makes sense! It's also confirmation that you still would like the prize of course and I'll post your prize once I hear from you. Please put Playground Winner or similar in the subject line of your email in case it drops into my junk mail. Email address is on RH sidebar as always.

Remember folks, there's still almost another week to run on Challenge #337 - just check back a bit and you'll easily find it. The prize is a Lawn Fawn 'Year Five - Otterly Birthday' stamp set - with the matching dies.

Dudley has a 'play date' with little Teddy (age four) who lives next door to us - by the time this publishes we'll know if they hit it off OK as it's set for 'yesterday'. I do hope so as Teddy is such a dear little dog (he's a Shih Tzu so they're going to be fairly well matched in size once Dudley is fully grown). Once again, our little tinker just wouldn't sit still long enough for a photo call. He's really growing fast, but still so very full of mischief needless to say.

Edit - Teddy and Dudley did get on really well (one minor 'putting in' place for Dudley from Teddy although not either dog's fault at all, just the situation with shared treats - god, why do I feel like a protective mama!!?) and we have big hopes for the future. Teddy sent him home with a marrow bone as he thinks Dudley with his small snout and long tongue might be able to get even more out of it! PLUS, the noises from the big firework display didn't faze him one bit - so far, so good!

Dudley is lying here right beside me totally exhausted by all the excitement - and a happy hour or two socialising .......... whilst the grown-ups compared doggy tales! I learned so much - thank you Rebecca!! x

Hope you all have a lovely week ahead, and little Parsnip and Dudley (with a sleepy woof!) send their love too!

  2. Lovely picks. I do like the Christmas tree - I've used this technique before and in addition to using snippets, you don't even have to worry about things being straight. A little wonkiness adds to the charm.

  3. Fun, fun--wish I could have seen the 2 little guys! Fritz actually doesn't mind fireworks unless they're really loud & close, so hope Dudley is the same. Wonderful picks & congrats to the winner!

  12. Congratulations to the winner and also to the lovely picks winners.
Think Dudley needs a gold star for not being affected by the fireworks, I have jumped out of my skin a few time.

  13. Oh my goodness, just thinking of cute little Dudley on his first play date made me wiggle with excitement! I wish our Toby had been socialized to other dogs as a pup because it would have made it so much easier. It's always good to familiarize your dog with as many situations and people/dogs as possible in the early months so that they can remain calm when presented with new friends or occasions.
Congratulations to the picks and the Gold Star, and I am excited to see that Sachi won this challenge prize. I'll let her know as she's been so busy with birthday parties, baby showers, and Halloween that she might forget to check online.
Marianne's snippet tree design is one that I have used in the past but forgot all about. I'll have to go through my scrap stash to see what snippet strips I can put together for a similar tree. Loads of creative and wonderful designs!

  16. I'm honored to see my card featured along with the other amazing picks. And Nicky definitely deserves the gold star pick. I have bunches of number stickers left over from scrapbooking years ago. I used most of the letters, but seldom used numbers. So this will be a great way to put them to use. So fun.
