Less is More - Week 280 - Splatters

The current theme over at Less is More this week is 'Splatters' - and it's one layer as well.

Hmmm, what to do? Rootling round for a sentiment to use I found a 'grungy/splattery' one - how lucky was that? Then out came a Stampin' Up stamp set and I was off and running:
I used:

- 4" x 5.5" white card blank, tent style

- splatter stamps from SU's 'Gorgeous Grunge' stamp set with SU's 'Daffodil Delight', 'Pumpkin Pie' and 'Tangelo Twist' ink pads

- used the Misti to stamp the sentiment using Memento 'Tuxedo Black' ink and a stamp from a 2015 QCME magazine free sentiments set called 'From the heart' - designed by Jenny Ellory

- rounded the top right hand corner for added interest

To be honest I feel a bit of a fraud just stamping a few splatters and a sentiment and calling it a day, this is waaaay out of my comfort zone! It seems too quick to me, who takes hours making a single card. Also other people do it with great aplomb and get such fabulous results. Plus, it looks a bit like there's been some blood dripped onto the card - IMHO, sigh. But, I wanted the yellow and oranges to echo the word sunshine in the sentiment :) The in-house critic loved it though!

  1. This is great for the LIM challenge Di and I know what you mean about it being difficult to be this minimal but it works well here. x

  2. Ah congrats on even attempting a LIM challenge tried it once I think.. I agree with you struggle to accept it as done with such little effort, but you had to think hunt and find so that is effort :D
I sometimes spend days before happy. Thanks so much for the inspiration.

  4. Love the ombre effect of the splatters! It's such a clean, eye catching card and perfectly CAS. Great LIM entry. I know what you mean about OLCs. They're so odd to make - I definitely prefer adding layers!

  5. A great card Di - love the splatter stamp. I know what you mean about quick cards! I often find that the ones I spend less time making are the ones I'm really pleased with and the ones that I take ages to make are the ones where I'm 'not quite sure'!

  6. Oh, but I think it's COOL! You know me . . . never happier than when I see splats on a card!

Personally I love this. You still MADE the card whether it took ages or was a quickie . . . there's at least 5 stampings there with 4 stamps. Don't be so hard on yourself!

    Hugs, Sarn! LOL! xxx

    1. PS - I just took a quick peek at the LIM Challenge entries . . . and due to the limited nature of a ONE LAYER CAS card, there are lots on there with only a couple of stamps used. xxx

  8. It's good to do something out of your comfort zone every now and then. I'm impressed that you have splatter stamps, I usually just make my own splatters when I don't intend too! Cara x

  10. This is stunning Di and if you can stamp and go and produce a card like this then good on you! That's what Less is More is all about eh! Not that I can ever seem to come up with a quick design that works first time! Great to see you playing along with us this week and hope all good with you. Hugs Sarah x

  11. Beautiful splatter, and perfect match of the colours with the sentiment. I have thought that you have made it with paint and a brush, before reading that it is a stamp! :D
I think that quick and easy sometime are great to do! :)
Love the touch of the rounded corner!

  13. What wonderful splatters and in such happy colors. I'm all about stamped splatters being as if I tried to do splatter splatters I'd get the wall or my glasses or anything other than what I intended.

  14. Those spatters are very effective to gain one's attention, and so is that single rounded corner! Nice!

  15. Great splatters and a fab sentiment. I know what you mean, I normally have to be so careful on CAS cards, but I could just go for it as it was part of the grunge!

  16. A perfect design for the LIM theme this week, Di. I must admit that I'm struggling with this theme. I don't own any splatter stamps, so the only alternative is to just splatter some inks.......😳 xx

  20. Whenever I make simple stamped OLCs I'm never sure I've done enough but they end up being some of my favourite creations in the end. I love the font of your sentiment, perfect choice to go with your splatters.
    Thanks for sharing with us.
