Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 123

Wow, another bumper lot of entries last week - which I think deserves a bit of a bumper prize this coming week. Not only that, I can hardly get the lid on the Playground toy box right now :)

So today, my snippets card is a Christmas one:
I used:

- 8" x 8" square white card blank

- white card stock embossed using the fabulous Embossalicious 'Swirl Corner 6" x 6" folder

- Woodware stamp called 'Patchwork Dove', paper pieced with snippets from LOTV's 'Winter Wishes' paper pad and just a tickle of Wink of Stella on the olive leaves (sigh to partly disguise that I smudged a bit)

- one whole sheet, shock, horror, of backing paper from the same LOTV paper pad

- SU's 'Crumb Cake' card stock for layering - sigh, cut into two fresh sheets thereby creating yet more snippets so in fact I used less snippets than I created with this card!

- sentiment is from the Creative Expressions 'Joy to the World' sentiments set. Wow, this set is terrific - it's unmounted grey rubber and you can snip it apart and mix and match part sentiments beautifully. Oh, and I stamped using a Memento 'Toffee Crunch' ink pad

And as luck would have it, the current challenge over at Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge is 'something beginning with B' - a dove is a bird and the card has a few blues - double qualification :)

So that's my offering - now let's take a peek at a few of yours. As always, not an easy choice and I ended up with a very long short-list so used a pin - I hope no-one is disappointed if they aren't a 'peek' this week. You really are going from strength to strength girls!

First of all, we have a few 'banners' cards and I think this is such a clever way to use up snippets, here's some examples:

Sarah (Sazzle Dazzle) made this card and I adore how the stars bring the whole card together, great idea.

Different style of banners, made by Liz W, beautifully complemented by the toning flowers.

Banners used the other way on by Anne F. And so well matched to the adorable image too.

Andrea (Kanda) also made two great banners cards but then she hopped in later on with this amazing humming bird card which I chose instead. So beautiful!

Bonnie always comes up trumps, and out of her cards this week I chose this one. It's so sunny, fabulous use of snippets to set of those beautiful tulips.

More flowers, this time from Lynn - such a clever idea to mix a jar stamp with those die cut flowers - some little snippets bit the dust too :)

This card, made by Mo, caused a sharp intake of breath here - it's just stunning! Mo is on a quest to use up loads of those flowers I'm sure we all have lurking from years ago - and what better way than this!
And a few Christmas cards - first of all this lovely one made by Brenda B - using banners too plus such a great image :)

Such an elegant card, made by Greta. We all have tons of white and cream snippets I'm sure and what a great way to use them.

Jean made this lovely card. again with the word 'Joy' and plenty of white - love those poinsettias!

Pat used snippets of white and black card when she made this beautiful scenic card. So lovely, gosh there's some clever sponging it been done on that there snow.

And Sandra H really went to town with this fabulous Christmas card, so many layers, sparkle and embellishments. Beautiful!

And now we have two new playmates:

Sheila H skipped in with this lovely butterfly card - and don't you love it when folk sort of 'dress' their card surroundings before taking a photo? I know a few of you do that - ha, I usually prop mine up with card behind against a flat screen TV, point and just shoot :(

And Carol Gill joined us waving this terrific card. I did giggle at the froggie - plus love the rainbow theme!

I hope you both come back to play soon :)

And onto the draw for the winner of the Memory Box 'Grand Happy Birthday' die:

Well done Kim! Can you please drop me an email with your snail mail address and I'll post the die off to you ASAP (di_wray@hotmail.com).

OK, so perhaps you're getting the drift that maybe, just maybe, it's a good idea to think about Christmas a little bit ahead of time? I've picked some Christmas cards today, and of course my own snippets card is a Christmas one. Can you guess where this is going? Yup, this week's prize is all for Christmas - in fact I lie as part of the prize is for all year round - but we haven't had a Christmassy prize since 29th December so here goes:
Embossalicious 'Swirl Corner 6" x 6" embossing folder - kindly donated by Lynn. Of course this folder would be great all year round and don't fret about it being a 6" x 6" one, I only have a little Cuttlebug here and mine went through no problem.

That fabulous Woodware 'Patchwork Dove' stamp, same as the one I used today, kindly donated by Elizabeth.

And the Creative Expressions 'Joy to the World' sentiments set, from me :) To cut and chop as you wish - the fonts really do lend themselves to being played around with to your heart's content, not just as they're shown on the packaging.

As usual, the snippets challenge will run for one week and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 10th May and will open again at midnight UK time on the same day. Maximum of three entries and please say 'No thank you' in a comment if you wish to still play but not be the winner of the prize. The prize IS all one bumper bundle, but if you only fancy one or more of the contents just say so in a comment and I'll do a second draw if you win for anything that's not on your wish list. But, you can have the lot if you wish :)

Mr Linky is below - please let me know if you have any problems linking, I can sort it out for you quite quickly and am always happy to do so.

Have a great week - keep those snippets coming :) We beat 70 entries last week, wahoo!!

Di (and a wave from Parsnip)
x

  42. That is some fantastic paper piecing & love that you chose the blue colors. Perfect for this little Bird of Peace, and cute to work in the tiny holly paper too! Don't you just love the WoStella for shine? Great corner emboss too, and so classy with the pretty blue bird. You got some wonderful mileage from your LOTV snippets. Would just hate to waste even a tiny snippet of that paper pad. Also congratulations to Kim. WTG! Some very awesome cards here already, and the ones from last week...Oh WOW! Pats & Hugs to Parsnip & yourself too! TFS
