Playing with 'inchies'

If this card looks very much influenced by some of those that Irene makes, you wouldn't be far wrong:
Last week I had a couple of very welcome telephone conversations with Irene - what a lovely person she is too. We spoke firstly because I'd bought a Stampin' Up 1" square punch and then realised that Irene uses their 1.25" punch. Guess what, it's been discontinued :( Why, oh why, does that always seem to happen to me. Then we got talking about how Irene colours her stamps and gets such lovely results - I picked up a secret but that's for Irene to disclose, it works brilliantly! My first attempt was a bit 'iffy' so it was put to one side ready for another try.

Then, a lovely selection of punched papers and card arrived through the post from Irene, so yesterday I had a little play and came up with the card above.

I used:

- A6 white linen card blank

- white linen card, embossed using the Cuttlebug 'Swiss Dots' folder

- six white squares and three pink patterned squares plus the pink hearts and a teeny blue butterfly, all from Irene

- my previously mentioned 'iffy' go at colouring a stamp (blue and green) from SU's 'Serene Silhouettes' set, three squares were punched with SU's 1" square punch

- some white pearls to finish off

I tracked down SU's 1.25" square punch on a USA eBay site. Brand new ones to be had - at approximately $60 including postage! Guess who had to be revived and has gone back to the drawing board :(

  3. What an amazing card. This is fabulous. I have made a Twinchie before but never anything smaller. I love the look of your card with all the different squares. ! Awesome !! Yikes - yes I know what you mean about postage from the US. The last thing I wanted to buy - the postage cost more than the item. Needless to say, I went without !!!!

    Have a fabbo day :-D

  7. You'd think someone else MUST make a 1.25" square punch wouldn't you? But I'm guessing you've already looked into it!

I LOVE the look that Irene achieves, and you've got me wondering about her colouring 'secret' now!

LOVE the look that YOU'VE achieved here too Di. Great snippets card!

  11. Hello Di,

I teared up reading your comment on my Flat Susan post. I took a photo of the Dancing St. Francis but it came out horribly so I'll try again.

It's hard to believe that it's been 18 months since you and Len were here. Time flies.

Now, about that hole punch -- I'll see what I have and will get back to you.

    Hugs,
    Kay

  16. Ooh, there are no secrets in the Playground!! Lovely card, beautiful image you've cut up. EKSuccess and I think Fiskars also do a 1.25" square punch, more buying options for you to search on there, you might find something you can use that doesn't cost an arm and a leg!

  18. Hi Di, just reading about your punch woes. Over here, the WOODWARE brand punch, which is usually described as 1", is actually 1 1/4"- found that out the hard way! I already had one, and wanted a 1" punch. saw thw WW one described as such, ordered it, only to find its really the same as my 1 1/4" one! Its the blue bodied one, you can find them on e-bay and Amazon. search for 1" punch. Hope this helps a bit, its really frustrating when you NEED a particular thing, lol. Hugs, Shaz xx

  19. That is one fabulous and gorgeous card Miss Pixie!
I love that you have used beautiful stamped pieces which tend to get chopped off when we are cutting things up - I end up with a lot of those so will have a go soon. Love the CAS lines of this Di, thank you for sharing it and how you did it with us Karen x
