Three cheers for the post man!

Our local post man, Steve, is brilliant. He's always cheerful, never scrunches letters and packets through the letter box (unlike his 'cover guy' does if he's on holiday or it's his day off), arrives in all weathers and to be honest delivers one heck of a lot of mail to us.

We always give him a Christmas card with money in and I suddenly realised I only had 'girlie' Christmas cards left - but Len reminded me that Steve has a dog so this is what I made:
I used:

- white DL card blank

- red 'satin finish' mirri card

- a variety of stamps and some glitter to create the scene, sentiment and image - ha, I wish!! I actually used the front of one of last year's cards for speed, quick and easy and a bit of a cheat :)

This is for Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge where the theme is  'Whatever is urgent to make' and it's also for Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra where it's always 'Anything goes'.

  3. Awww..that is lovely! You are so lucky to have a non folder and a non scruncher! Wish I could say the same!
Postie are contracted out employees..often English is not their native language and it is hard to explain please do not fold my items. They are paid by item or by weight so they rush through their day to try to earn more.

When we still had postmen and women who were employees, they stayed a long time on the route and knew your preferences.

  6. Well done on another quick make. Looks just the thing for the postie. I'm sure he'll appreciate it. I did the Post office rounds when I was a student and it was a hard slog, even for just a week or two before Christmas! Kate x

  10. Such clever recylcing, perfect for quick cards.
Huge thanks to you and Mrs A for these creations. I don't think I'll be putting a lot of shop cards into the recycling bin this year - they are going to be used in other ways! xx

  11. Gorgeous card and I'm sure he'll love it. We're lucky too and Rob will sign for anything for us if we're not in and it will go through the letter slot. He's normally quite early and will call on his way back if he has a parcel for us in case we're back. One of the great things about living in a small village x

  13. Beautifully recycled card, I'm sure your postie will love it. I have a box full of cards with bits that I like and have kept with a view to recycling but never seem to get round to doing it.

  14. Bet he is well chuffed with this one.
Ours is called 'Little Dave' well Dave but when he walks past the kitchen window we can just barely see the top of his head if he has a cap on and if he has a parcel and I am in the kitchen he has a habit of banging on the window, frightening me to death as when I look round I can not see anyone.

  20. I upcycle some of the prettiest store-bought cards, too, and this one definitely needed to be regifted, as it were. It is such an artistic and heartwarming scene and I'm sure your heroic postal guy just loved it, Di! Holiday Hugs, Darnell

  21. I do wish your postie would give mine some lessons Di - hubster has even made another postbox on the wooden gate so he can get parcels through, yet he still crunches my magazines (complete with freebies) through the letterbox!

It certainly sounds as if yours deserves his card, which is wonderful btw.

I hope you both have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    Hugs to you Sue Pxxx

  23. Hi Di,

What a great card! I'm sure your postman will love it! I usually make some treats and give my postman a gift card to Starbucks. It's located right across the street from the main post office in town.

Thank you for my Christmas card - what an adorable little birdie! Has mine arrived yet?

    Hugs,
    Kay
